  • Make pop art a threat again...

  • It was June 1984, I was 20 years old on a boat sailing North across the South Atlantic after a 4 month tour in the Falkland Islands, on my way home. On the radio, was music coming from Frankie goes to Hollywood, The Art of Noise and Simple Minds, and I thought grrrrreat!!!!! This is the music of the future. This is what I'm coming home to.

And from then on, I always thought things can only get better, until who should come and spoil everything but STOCK, AITKEN AND FUCKING WATERMAN!!!!!

  • This is QUALITY!!!!

  • Like it! :)

  • From the diamond mines to the factory...

  • WARIO!

  • I am going to be honest, I never even heard this song until last night, and when I did I was blown away. This song has an awesome keyboard hook, meaningful lyrics, and still rings true today. So what if they were a gay act, you'd have to be narrow-minded to give a shit about that. This is a great song, much better than some of the crapola dominating the airwaves today. Definitely a perfect addition as DLC for Rock Band 3 sometime, I hope they do it!

  • Stu

  • We have a load of movies, good movies, none that get over what it's like to be there for everyone involved.

You are right...no tunes for the conflict.

  • Interesting imagery...buy still disappointed that this track had an animated video.

    Alas...

  • yeaaaah, frankie rulzz for ever !!!!

  • Frankie rules! Always!

  • it is a fantastic song and always been associated with snow in my mind. Is there another video where the group sings in the snow? Anybody knows?

Happy New Year 2010 to all

  • elsa manchester ? much prefer this lp.

  • I would have to agree borederlands is imense

  • Correction Log E=MC Cylus

  • YES!!!! E=Mc nartin

  • dat is the biggest load of random crap ever. who ever agrees with that sy YES!

  • @rorzo77

    NO!

  • @FurryFenNick I would have to disagree with ur very tender hypothesis??!!

  • aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrggggh! - ruins it!

  • Great song!

  • great vid.

  • STORIC

  • i like the album version better

  • Me too, it rocked.

  • awesome thanks for posting

  • rizzo said this is good video....

  • Great video, great band, great song! One of my favorites of all times. Frankie is one of the best. To bad music changed so much.

Thank you for posting this great video! I love the caracters too.

  • @cuteblanca

Yeah we would need this so much. War, Two Tribes and Warriors are great songs. And now even 9 years in war we still have no single song about what is happening in Iraq.

  • @llothar68 To my mind, George Michael was the ONLY artist to make a public stand against the unjust unlawful war and look what happened to him. Where are today's protest songs? Why no comment from metalheads and rappers? Where's the spirit of rebellion? The silence is deafening.

  • @TheQuiet1 You're right. Well said. Today seems to have no protest songs. In the eighties it seemed that was the last great era with protest songs. Nik Kershaw was another who did a lot of protest songs (ie: I Won't Let the Sun Go Down On Me)... I just can't picture the likes of what's on offer today having the guts to do anything like that.

  • @TheQuiet1 Well, no one wants to be branded as supporting TERRORISM these days, do they?

  • Good producer... :)

  • Cloverfield911 - I remember when you knew nearly every song on a "Now That's What I Call Music" album. I don't know hardly any of them on the latest albums!

  • This should have been No.1. It only just got into the top 20, but it would probably still outsell today's No.1 as single sales were very much higher back in the eighties!

  • There were just so many great songs in the 80s that the entire chart was a chat of hits...every week.

  • great song, remember it since i was 6, I kept listenin it on my dad's 1st CD back in 88

  • awesome! reminds me of a better time

  • Big sound - great electro/rock track. This was the best track on the Liverpool album. This is a bit like Europe's "Final Countdown", but this has more meaningful lyrics. Nice video, too!

  • la mattina prima di uscire da casa dovremmo sentire tutti questo motivo che ti da una carica straordinaria

  • Great video, surprising it didn't do better off the back of this

  • great song. there's also a re-mix - the attack mix. Its a bit more metal. Wish i could find it again. Awsome song though

  • FGTH thanks for all good songs! You made my life so much better!!

  • Man what a song, you can relate this song to any genre, you can make a heavy metal song just by making guitars a cell different! Pity, where is this music today? Buried in the minds of happy people who lived in the '80. and now have 48 and so and 4 children....cccc...

  • just over the last few years is the album "liverpool" getting the great reviews it should have got back in 1986.

  • MITICI F.G.T.H.!!!

  • Makes my spine tingle. I don't remember it doing that well which is bizarre given the dynamic slice of pop that it is.

  • Incredible good song!

  • Blizzard of AHHHHHHHhs.....

  • is this the theme tune for the ryvita ad?

  • Directed by Nick Burgess-Jones

  • Underrated

  • Can you not read?

  • Thank you FGTH for some of the greatest music of the 80s.....

  • LOVE this song!

  • awesome song...i wish i could find an instrumental version of the album version (or at least a version with lead vocals removed) so I could sing it at a karaoke with some updated/altered lyrics that pertain to how the hunger for oil is the main reason behind the iraq war. Check out Rychard Head and their "American Brand Dammaged Goods" plus "Banjo Bob, The Topless Knob" videos right here on youtube...yes, thats Rychard Head with a 'y' in Rychard.

  • I've covered several Frankie goes to hollywood songs instrumentally.. i did "Relax", "Welcome to the pleasuredome" and right now i'm working on one of their songs called "Black night white light" ... never recorded any vocals on 'em though.

"Warriors of the wasteland" is definately next!

  • Black night white light is great!

  • class! thanks

  • This was my fist single back in the 80's and I still like it

  • Do you know if it excits a longplay version?

  • What longplay version? Video or a song?

  • Amazing -20 years and it sounds as cool as on the first day !

  • Yeah !

  • great video!

  • It's hard to believe it's been over 20 years since this came out. Still sounds fresh and ballzy. One of my all time faves! After all these yeasr it still makes me get up and dance and play air drums like a lunatic :):) Hi to all Frankie fans. The vid is spot on. Big song, big images.

  • Super video combining the Wall and Monty Python...not one of their better songs but still a super band for those few years

  • I love Frankie, there will never be something like them.

    Thanx for the video.

  • Great song and vid!

  • great guitar!

  • reminds me my the school

  • they fucking rock!

    love them.

  • Mad Max 4 main theme!

  • Fantastic,Frankies best in my opinion.

  • fantastico! i always thought Liverpool was a neglected classic album. and this video is a revelation, i am a cartoon/warhol/communist poster art junkie and just got fixed good and proper.

  • Excellent! Frankie lives on! THANKS for posting!

  • My fave Frankie's song!!

  • Thanks for posting!!! This is an awesome video, a work of art and great song
