  • I saw that the stars were close to Earth ... the only star reachable by man right now is the sun ... so, thats something that needs fixed, but that was awesome! (Everything can be fixed, done better, and/or restored.)

  • This is by far the best one i've seen. Can I please use this for an intro for my new montage that i'm making? Reply back!

  • wow, kudos to you, nice job

  • Excellent!!!!

  • how do you get the lens flare?

  • @seskwuhpuhdaylian The lens flare was created with the Knoll Light Factory plug-in for Adobe Premiere

  • Omg this is crazy. That is sooo realistic

  • ther is NO high quality XD

  • @XeloX2 Ya, 360P is the highest now, unfortunately. (I edited the title to reflect the change)

  • How to add stars ?

  • @SuperKaraburma Check the video description for how the stars were done. :)

  • @kai001 Tnx !!! : *

  • how did u make stars?

  • @CrucialzHD Well if I remember correctly there are several layers of stars in this video. Were you wondering about a specific kind?

  • @CrucialzHD For the ones that are close to the camera: I think that they were simply a disc in a MoGraph cloner in grid mode with a random effector to move them around randomly. Then the cloner is made editable and 'look at camera' tags are applied to all the discs so that they're always facing the camera (Might take some tweaking of the axis of the discs to get them to face the camera right). The result should be stars like in this video when the shader is applied

  • @CrucialzHD For the ones in the far distance I think I layered multiple starfield images on top of one another with various blend modes in the color and/or luminance channel of the shader. And then applied the shader to a skydome.

  • one word: epic!!! Great job : )

  • Very nice!

  • if the disklikes are really because its short, well let me tell you that it takes an hour and a half to render a 15 second intro

  • Wow, 2 dis-likes? Must be because it's so short?

  • wow how did you make the sun? D:

  • @ikpure A white sphere was places where the sun would be, and then motion tracked in Adobe After Effects. There, a lens-flare from the Knoll Light Factory plugin was placed onto the tracked point. Knoll Light Factory can make some very impressive lens-flares. :D

  • @kai001 thanks!

  • Looks like the stars are very near but are very small

  • what I want to know is how you made it look so High def in cinema 4d

  • @mgk22 So high-def? What do you mean? I don't think that this was rendered in HD resolution. Or do you mean something else? ^^

  • @kai001 ill be more specific, what I mean is you made the things on the earth and moon pop out more i.e. the clouds on the earth look like the move and the surface looked more like a surface than the bitmap stuff I use and the moon surface looks more like tha actual surface than just a smooth bitmap used ball if you know what I mean?

  • @mgk22 Sorry for the late reply!

The atmosphere, clouds and surface of the Earth are actually three separate objects. I used very high-res realistic textures and did a lot of experimenting with bumpmapping and diffusion to get the result. For the clouds, if I remember correctly I used sub-poly displacement to make the clouds actually 3D instead of trying to simulate a 3D look.

  • @mgk22 The moon also uses a high-res realistic texture map with some rather strong bumpmapping. I'd have to check, but I don't think I used any displacement mapping on it. Also quite important for the moon was using an Oren-Nayer illumination model instead of Phong or Blinn. I think you can change the illumination model under the options section of a Cinema 4D material. The Oren-Nayer model is more suitable for rough and porous surfaces and gives a much less plastic or metal look. ^^

  • Looks really sweet. I think it's just a little strange, that some stars seems to be closer to the earth than the moon o.O

  • @KleckaGandalf

I did just say that :D

  • @KleckaGandalf Ya, I guess I did it for the visually pleasing effect. But if I made it now I probably wouldn't. XD Thanks for the compliment though.

  • Omg , niiiceee, very epic !!! Sound fits so good to the animation!

But the white dots/ stars are to close to the camera aren´t they?

  • Excellent work its, big, bold and dynamic. The images and sound track fit together perfectly to make a professional shot.

  • Fuck me, that was AMAZING!

  • It's beautiful!

How long did you worked on it?

  • @vanlandschoote Thanks for the compliment!

I honestly can't remember exactly. Now I've spent a huge amount of time working on it, since updating it. But I'm clueless as to how long I spent making everything in this specific video. Sorry

  • its really good, but it would be better if it made more sense. theres no stars in the solar system other than the sun

  • @Cinema4DChannel Well, as I may have mentioned before, they were there simply because they looked good. I probably wouldn't leave them in any new animation though. Also, thanks for the compliment and your comment. :)

  • @Cinema4DChannel np, but u should make a tutorial

  • tutorial..... :)

  • gah. what are ur settings for rendering ?! mine are horrible quality D:

  • veri nice sun

  • ive heard that song...but i cant remember where

  • @cr3am3dCAK3 In all likelihood: Shrek. :)

  • @kai001 thats right....call space thing aswell

  • @cr3am3dCAK3 Call space thing aswell? What do you mean by that? :)

  • @kai001 cool* space thing :P

  • Comment removed

  • i started using this but somehow, i lost interest and didn't continue :S

perhaps sooner or later i might start it again.

  • hm, cool, but why 4D? that means going on an X axis, a Y axis, being able to turn, and go through space like 3D, and then the 4D adds going through time. but anyway nice job! if you had the time you could really do something cool!

  • Thanks!

To the best of my knowledge it's called Cinema 4D because it's 3D but also does animation, over time (4D).

And ya, I'm making a sequal but I have no idea how long it's going to take. XD

  • awesome. i need to learn to use blender... what do you use for this? is it called "Cinema 4D"?

  • A sequal is coming..

  • nic work !! it´s very awesome

  • Comment removed

  • ho ly SHIT! awesome work :O

  • what's the name of this song? O.o

  • what's the name of this song? i love it!!!

  • More more! This is awesome, but too short.

  • Would love a tutorial for sure

  • Do you mind if I use this in one of my vids? You'll be credited in the description.

  • WOW HOLY COW. I'll try to make something like this in After Effects.

By the way, do you use Blender at all? I'd love a good planet tutorial for Blender.

  • breathtaking

  • oh fuck damn!

    nice!

  • Yea dude, make a tut man! It's so damn awesome!! :D

  • Where did you get the music?..

  • The music's called "True Love's First Kiss", by Harry Gregson-Wiliams and John Power off the album of the movie Shrek. :)

  • Comment removed

  • can yo make a tutorial for this??

    it's really cool!

  • Thanks for the compliment! :D

And yes, perhaps I could make a tutorial. I'm just curious, would anyone else like a tutorial for this? :)

  • tut would be great!!!

  • hell yeah!

i would love to see an tut abt it

  • Yes PLEASE make a tut for this! You have a lot of great framing and timing in this animation and it would be helpful to see how you did it!

  • Ok, I think there seems to be quite enough demand to make a tutorial, so I'll get working on it. I can't set an exact date, yet, but I'll try to work on it as soon as I can. :D

  • better than my c4d vid

  • i have one word for this "WOW"

    very well done 5/5*

    -lorenzo

  • Thanks! :D

  • wow! your sun's lens effect if absolutely gorgeous! I'm actually working on a space / earth project right now and my sun is a bit boring compare to yours hehe

  • Thanks! :D And assuming you're using Cinema 4D, and want any pointers, feel free to ask. About the sun, it was a post effect in After Effects, I just rendered a small white sphere in place of the sun and motion tracked it so that the lens flare followed it. Although manually animating it works too. (By the way I used the "Light Factory" plugin for After Effects at redgiantsoftware(dot)com /products/all/knoll-light-factory-pro/ for it)

  • ooohh nice! This addon look realy cool, I'll have an eye on it for post-production : )

    thx for information

  • How did you motion track the light factory to the white sphere in after effects?

  • Adobe After Effects (I'm not sure since what version) has the ability to motion track a point or points in the video in 2D. After manually placing a tracking point and having it track it I anchored the EZLightFactory effects position property to the position property of the tracked point. I'd be much more specific, but After Effects is crashing every time I attempt to open my project now. Hopefully I can work this out.

  • it would be cool if i could see the first half of the video....

why is it basically black from 0:04-0:15?!?!

  • Well, you're on the back, or dark side of the Earth. That, and the stars are almost invisible at one point due to the motion blur on them.

But as I said in the description, I only intended it to be a test, I had no idea if it'd be that dark when rendered. :P

  • Very cool animation ;) But the stars could be smaller ;)

  • Thanks for the compliment! :D And I suppose they do look a little big, if I use this effect again I'll probably make them smaller. :P

  • How do you made the stars in 3D?

  • There are actually two steps to making the stars in this video. One is that the entire scene is enclosed in a massive sphere with a texture of stars applied to the entire inside. And as for the 3D ones, all I did was make a very small sphere with a glowing white shader, and use Cinema 4D's "clone" object to make a mass amount of them randomly spread out in the scene. And finally a motion blur to give them the slight streaking effect when there's camera movement. :)

  • I was actually expecting it to continue and play some epic movie or other :)

  • Heh, thanks (I think). And yes, this has an extremely abrupt beggining/ending, since I never really intended it to be anything more than a test. But the next video I post will be a full animation. :D

  • truly amazing!

what is the name of the song? and who is the artist? and perhaps the soundtrack it's from?

  • sonicballer8888: Thanks for the compliment, I'm glad you liked it! :D

As for the song, believe it or not but it's entitled "True Love's First Kiss", by Harry Gregson-Wiliams and John Power off the album of the movie Shrek. I'm amazed by it's epic feel so I used it.

By the way, I thought I'd point out that I'll have some bigger better animations up here quite soon. :) (i.e not tests)

  • cool, hey i think i have that CD!

  • Awesome! If you like that type of large epic music then it'd be worth checking out "X-Ray Dog". They make some of the most epic music I've heard, although, they don't sell their music to the general public (I assume so that they can license it to movie companies, seeing as I recognize one of their songs from Lord Of The Rings and anothe from Narnia) I see alot of people have posted their songs here on YouTube. ;)

  • Thanks for the compliments everyone, glad you liked it. :D

  • very nice.

  • well done
