  • Paul Lynde back in the day was the funniest man alive no matter where he appeared or what he did--but we were soooo disappointed when this show finally debuted. My family and I wanted to love it (because we loved him) but it was the wrong premise entirely for him. You had the feeling ABC hadn't the courage to give him a series that would really have suited his unique talents and screamingly obvious gay vibe. I think it frustrated him terribly to be relegated to that quippy Hollywood square role.

  • Loved the clip and this show when it was on when I was 8-9 years old and too bad it did not last. Even tho he was gay did not matter because he was so talented and gifted as far as what he was able to do what he loved doing. He was a jerk sometimes and drank a lot but still continued to work up until his death in 1982. Too bad he is dead and still love him today and am sure many people still do. Thanks for the post from this true fan.

  • They should retool this show with Andy Dick.

  • I does not matter if Paul was gay or not... but he was certainly gay!

  • How very cool! I recall seeing one or two episodes of the late great Mr Lynde's short lived ABC sitcom. What an amazing talent he was....much better than the material he was forced to work with on that rather silly show. THANK YOU so very much for sharing this delightful clip for us! :)

  • PAUL LYNDE IS NOT GAY, DAMMIT!!!!!!

    Who do these rumors start?!

  • @TalkinXbox LOL, that's funny. :P Paul was so gay that if he had been any gayer, he would of been straight.

  • @thunderlobosbaby The greatest fantasy role in television history is paul lynde playing a straight guy

  • @DocWyoming Actually seeing Ellen DeGeneres play a straight woman (first several seasons of "Ellen") was quite weird.

  • @TalkinXbox Probably from all the men he had sex with?

  • @TalkinXbox um dude if you watch his biography , they say he is and so does his CLOSEST FRIENDS. Im sure many people already told you that already however

  • @paramedicEmergency51 Jesus, I was joking. Some people have had the irony/sarcasm/sense of humor surgically removed.

  • Why the hell are these not released to DVD??? So many other really crap shows have been. I'm missing 3 episodes to complete the season which ran only once in the 70's. Sony REALLY SUCKS BALLS!!

  • This promo originally aired on November 7, 1972, the night before the episode described by the staff announcer at the end {"Unsteady Going"} was shown on November 8th.
