  • Jerry is really great, but he either stole his shirt from the set of the first Star Trek movie...or one of the dudes in P-Funk....

  • Steve's tone has gotten more aggressive as his style got more aggressive. i love the tone of his blue musicman guitar, man that axe sure saw some road use huh? but the frankenstein Tele is part of his evolution and def sounded great!

  • Wow! Thanks for posting. I can't add too much to what's been said - it's great! I remember when Steve came out with this lineup - I was knocked out by Jerry Peek as well. It was "Who is this guy?!" He used to be an architect or something? Really great technique and music all around.

  • I have seen this lineup severall times in germany ... i agree - the best ever!

    So what happened to Peek?

  • Whatever happened to Peek?

  • Thank You for posting one of my all time favorites

  • I saw this version of the Steve Morse Band at the Chestnut Cabaret in Philly. I believe it's his best version. Jerry Peek is incredible, not to take anything from Dave LaRue...

  • All I can say is... "FREAKIN HELLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!"

  • They make it look so effortless! Steve and co. FTW!

  • Chickin Pickin! Steve is the best. Probably one of the most proficient pickers on the planet. There's a story about Steve, Albert Lee and Eddie Van Halen doing a jam (possibly at a NAMM show?) with this kind of insane picking and when Eddie's turn came around he was embarrassingly lost amongst Steve and Albert. Steve is a very humble guy and always hangs around after his shows to meet and greet the fans and usually stays till every last person is gone. That's a true star...you rock Steve!

  • It's a shame that not many of us in the states can enjoy music like this. Three minute pop diddys are the norm here. We need bigger ears! This is the Sh@#!!!!

  • Thank you for posting ! Awesome stuff !

Anything that is related to the Dixie Dregs and Stev Morse is some of my favorite music.

  • Paul DiAnno´s an amazing bassist

  • That's Jerry Peek on bass. Who's Paul Di'Anno? The only Paul Do'Anno I've ever heard of, in music, is the former Iron Maiden vocalist.

  • U missed the joke

  • @KingTabor DiAnno doesnt really look like Peek....so joke fail

  • @vilseipankakan I think its an attempt at humor. Peek doesnt even look like DiAnno..

  • Such a sweet sound coming from that FrankenCaster...A true Unsung Hero!!!

  • A Steve Morse Band faz parte da minha vida como minha família, apesar dessa música ser originalmente dos Dixie Dregs, o trio detona tanto quanto! Deus abençoe esses caras!

  • This video is interesting because "Rock and Roll Park" was also filmed as part of the 1990 Ohne Filter gig DVD from which this 1984 version was pilfered. He plays the newer version much faster and with his Music Man guitar (with Dave LaRue on bass) - and I like the newer version better. His playing evolved noticeably over the 6 years and his use of effects (always well placed) obviously played a bigger part in the newer version. He's looser the second time around and I think it works well.

  • Thanks BlowByBlow1975 for the info on the V4 crannked to 10 ! I want to add that I own a Musicman SM model, and like it,but I still like the sound of his old Frankenstein better ( so maybe I'll put a 335 neck pickup in it ). Of course old Ampeg V4's are extremely rare to find, and to achieve that beautifully Fat tube neck tone he used, well I'll just keep on experimenting! try the Digitech 1550 distortion pedal ( find em on Ebay) - I got close to it with that.

  • been a morse fan for 30 years never get sick of real musitions because they play more than a power chord or an 8th note feel in 4/4 there music is timeless

  • thanks for posting this. The Dregs were one of my all time favorite bands! Great footage!

  • This was his best distortion tone, in my opinion. original and unique and hard to replicate.

  • I couldn't agree with you more. From what Steve told me in 1988, this tone was achieved by putting his Ampeg V4 on 10... that's it... no pedals.

In my opinion, his tone is too overdriven now and this inspires him to play in a different way.

I first saw this line-up in concert in 1983 when I was 13 years old. What a great and lasting effect it had on my life. Dregs Music Forever!!

  • Wanted to confirm BlowByBlow's comment about Steve's amp setting on his V-4. I actually brought my V-4 to a guitar seminar Steve conducted in Manchester, CT a few years ago so he could sign it. After he signed, he said if I wanted, he could set it to his preferred settings. I said "of course!", and with that, I noted he turned the volume up to 10. When I asked why he did that, he said "that's the way it sounds best!" I also agree that his old sound with the Tele is my favorite.

  • @CraigsDregs I totally agree! I really miss how big his old Frankenstein Tele tone was. Though always a fan, I have not been very inspired by most of his Music Man distorted guitar tones.

  • Woww!!!, great video !!!
