The majority of the judges actually placed them 5th or LOWER after this dance. Look carefully at the cross-rolls; they (noticeably Charlie White) skates on incorrect flat edges. And as the British Eurosport commentators noted from last yr's CD, Charlie seems like he is using his shoulders to force out the edges when the power should come from the waist down.
Still translating... He is not very convinced, he says the cross-rolls are ver flat and above all, she totally jumps on the choctaw (I think it's a choctaw) which is, according to him, an infraction, since it does not respect the official description of the steps (he did complain about this with other dancers though, he says it is a widespread infraction and that it's not due to "stress" but bad habits in training). She says that still, everyone looked very tense that day.

But the compulsories for next season have already been announced as Golden Waltz and Tango Romantica, in ISU press release, I think I saw such a file on ISU website.
ISU is considering eliminating compulsories after the 2009/2010 season. IOC wants ice dance to be in line with the other disciplines with only two segments to make it more TV friendly. ISU is considering creating a hybrid of CD's and OD's among other options. No final decision has been made and many ice dancers have publicly said they want CD's to stay. No matter what, any change made would only apply to senior teams, CD's would remain for juniors.
Yes you're right, it it's tricky though because it does look like a choctaw. The swing that comes beforehand ends on an outside edge, which makes it look like it's an outside-inside turn and therefore a choctaw... But it seems that just before you put down the other foot, you're supposed to switch to an inside edge for a fraction of a second, so it becomes inside-inside and therefore a mohawk... At least it looks like this on the official pattern. Not sure my comment actually makes any sense :D
Gotta love his fake tan.

Excellent footwork and unison. They really do have a flair for Spanish music.

I think their program was grossly underated. It was very strong and looked terrific.

Hi ChachouMiaou, thanks for translating! I think they were a little bit nervous there, I hope them do well in compulsories next season!

There might not be any compulsories next year. They are having a huge debate going on about this in the ISU.

it would also be better to keep the same format for ice dancing during an Olympic year... changes can be made after that though if necessary.

It's not a choctaw, it's an open mohawk. Just letting you know :)

no, the swing actually changes at the last minute to an inside and that makes it a mohawk.
Luukashism 2 years ago
Yes that's what I said, you switch to an inside edge at the last minute therefore it's inside-inside and a mohawk ;)
