@Ikillpeopleforfree Update: Just got mine today UPS. Wow the bass is beautiful, light, and the neck is wide and thin for fingerstyle and thumping pop style. My Fenders and LTDs have narrow necks better suited to pick style, so now I got all the basses covered. When I opened the box the first thing I said after I picked it up was I can see why this bass costs so much even though it is made in China & finshed in the USA & is insignificant compared to the reality of this amazing beautiful beast!
@bunkabusta01 Difference is being in a "Djent" band myself, Weight is a nice think about, I use a Ibanez SR505 light enough to throw about & Sturdy enough to take the beating too! The shame about most comments on here is people are more concerned about being able to "Crab" or "Throw down" with the bass, rather than listen to the tone or comfort ability of the neck. Idiots.
I had a Kingston 4 zx, amazing bass, sold it to buy a gibson thunderbird. Well, let's just say the thunderbrid is back on the market for trade for a 6 string model of these bad boys
If the bass needs to cut through the mix, yes they are good for metal.
These are very light, with very low action but unforgiving so if you are a sloppy player, look somewhere else (or learn to play more precise).
Also, if you have an all black clothes metal gig and come on stage with this boutique bass, I will be front row with popcorn seeing you get fagged off the stage ;)
I haven't tired this bass yet. But the lightest bass I've played is a Spector rebop. Insanely light. I bet the five string rebop is lighter then the MTD.
highly agree, i played an eden dc112 for the first time and fell in love, just made playing bass more fun and made me feel the rhythm n accents for real
that's a tobias bass. MTD - Michael Tobias Design. And about the price tag if you check out the gibson Tobias they're even more expensive (at least here in portugal). About $2600 USD
Just oerdered mine. Never played one yet. Looks great too.

I think that that specific model with the woods, and everything... is the best mtd lower line basses out there

Hear it on an eden amp. Ampegs make every bass sound the same.

I've played one of those. It had a weird neck to me but everything else was spot on fantastic.

Played the 4-string version through a Mark Bass amp. My hands couldn't help playing sexy grooves. Feels lovely.

for 1200 bucks one would expect better. Sounds like a quacking duck...plus this guy cant play.
