  • my shure mike fell 3 feet on a rug and it no longer works

  • @giojoeg Probably ain't a real Shure.

  • i wanna see them drop a telefunken u47

  • so shure workers r rednecks?

  • "nahh way to pretty" translates to roughly "Hell nah, this things gonna break to tiny bits and pieces if i do that" ?? haha

  • bando de maluco....

  • I've seen many episodes that basically prove that this Mic is VERY tough, though I would like to point out that I got a microphone just like this about two years ago, and in one and a half years time of having it, it stoped working. I found out recently that it was a problem with the wiring. I screwed off the top and the wires were disconnected. I have not done anything wrong for that to happen.

  • it totally lost punchyness after the second drop.

  • I love this video. I LOVE drop tests !! I have owned Shure mics for years and years, good job guys !

  • TA TARARAAAA

  • way to much free time?

  • I think the 58 actually sounds better after the second drop!!!

  • classic. Hate those 57 grills though. The Audix i5 has the right idea!

  • Anyone wondering how many they had to drop to get the desired result?

  • Only once I was there!!!!

  • LOL

  • @loftthebrit I've dropped this exact mic several times from ridiculous heights at school, and not once has it even dented or broken. I'm really impressed with how durable it is. This is probably the first try.

  • @loftthebrit just one.

  • I'm surprised that it landed in the box. Love your products. Check out my vids, I use Shure!

  • I sell these mikes and have always been able to count on their working, like a three pound hammer "You pick it up it works!"

  • Wow. My SM 57 didn't survive a 2 foot drop out of my hand onto a thickly graveled driveway, after I had it for only 2 days. That was about 15 years ago, and I haven't bought another Shure product since. I'm tempted to get another, though.

To be fair, my mic was made just after they moved production to Mexico. I'm sure Shure has brought their standards back up to close to what they once were by now.

  • Give the sm-58 a try next time. I have some 30-40 years old that have been slammed into walls, floors and still sound great. The 57 should do better than yours did, but it's a more fragile mic case than the sm-58

  • i'm a microphone technician at a sound company and these definitely can take a beating. the reason the 57 breaks easier is because of the plastic head. otherwise it's the same casing and everything. great video

  • heres the two issues. 15 years ago, older stuff wasnt as durable as it is now made. Mexico production. Forgien made products almost never take a beating, take Ipods and fancy cell phones for example.

  • Oh definitely.

    I highly recommend Shure products.

  • Wow...

I'd like to see iPod earphones accomplish that.

  • actully the Ipod buds can take a beating, it took me an hour of smashing them into desks and walls at my school to actully break them into not working and cracking them. The ipods themselves, not so much.

  • The Best mics in the world..

  • cool stuff guys!

  • Awesome!
