@0x51d yeah, thanks 4 tat! i heard whos girl 12" on late nite radio in summer 1983,and am dying to hear it again.im a huge eurythmics fan spending my pocket money buying their albums on cassette.it was a real buzz listening to their albums coz there were amazing album tracks on there also like ive got an angel, adrain, aqua, no hate-pain-broken hearts, the last time,i remember you to mention just a few.cheers,denis.
@fergusil Did you ever pick up any of their pre-Eurythmics stuff? One of the bands they had was called, The Tourists. Off the top of my head, I can't recall the other band.
@RedVynil The Tourists and The Catch is what the other band pre-Eurythmics was called.Im not bothered by them.I was a devoted Eurythmics fan as a kid/teenager in the early-mid 80s;and its interesting to see what Annie and Dave got up to before hand by watching various uploads on YouTube but thats as far as it goes with me.Even now 25-30 years later,I still listen to Eurythmics albums on CD: I can`t get enough! Cheers,Denis.
@fergusil Yeah, The Catch!! That's it! Thanks. I tend to be a completist of bands I really like. In a scant few cases, I'm not, as much. For instance, half of 10 c.c. came from The Mindbenders & the other half came from, The Mockingbirds, but, I'm not sure I want to collect all of their stuff as well as all of 10 c.c.'s stuff. Likewise, I don't exactly go for solo recordings or stuff band members did after they broke up. With XTC, The Beatles, & Todd Rundgren, yes, I go both directions.
@fergusil Godley & Creme, absolutely! I collect their stuff, too. Have you ever heard of the group, Hotlegs? That was 10 c.c. just before they became 10 c.c..
@fergusil Yes, around `70, `71, they were signed to Capitol and released at least one album called, "Hotlegs Thinks: School Stinks" and it not only had a minor hit called, "Neanderthal Man" on it, but the flip side of that on the single "You Didn't Like It, Because You Never Thought Of It" appeared in another form on the first 10 c.c. album a year later.
@fergusil Don't let your age stop you!! By the time I was MAYBE 10 years old, if that, I knew about Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Spike Jones, The Marx Brothers and tons of other stuff that was WAY before MY time, as in decades!! I was hatched in `57.
I guess I should know good music. In the first place, music is my life, in the second place, I've got 50,000 records in my collection. My oldest ones are probably 130 year old.
@RedVynil 50,000 records?? BLOODY HELL! and heres me thinking I was doing very well with my Ziggy Stardust limited red vinyl..hee hee.Promise me no matter how bad things get you`ll never part with them or you`ll never played them on a regular basis for fear *cooking a steak*soundeffects start to develope on them. You should upload a blog so people like me can look on in fasaciation if you haven`t already done;must check your uploads.
@fergusil I DO have some collectible stuff (Like, "Power Boogie" / "Liberation Special" by Elephant's Memory on Apple, worth at least $400.00 & I bought it for a quarter!!), but I'm not so much into money records as much as stuff I just like to listen to. I actually have a few hundred or so 45's & 78's (each) and a few dozen (I guess) albums that I haven't even heard yet. Most things I'll record one of the first times I play them, then just play the recordings. There's a FEW records I'm...
@fergusil ...thinking about selling. Mostly because I'll either never listen to them again, or, they're stuff I'm just not interested in. Problem is, there's probably not much of a market for any of them. I tend to think of my records as my children, so, I do take good care of them, but I DID unknowingly (sort of) abuse them a tiny bit as a kid. I don't think there's all that many that sizzle. I don't have any uploads, I'm not sure how to do it, yet, & my viddy cam just died 4 months ago.
@fergusil Some other guy here wanted me to shoot a quick vid of my collection for huim, but, besides the cam dying, I needed to straighten out my collection, because it's scattered (shelves and stacks) all over the 3rd floor. I'm HOPING to get some time this spring to finally get it all sorted out Right now, it's basically oganized chaos. Except for newer stuff I've bought, or was given, in bulk, I know what I've got & USUALLY know exactly where to find it. Maybe this spring I can do a vid.
Yeah, really cool! Reminds me of Throbbing Gristle and all those kinda electronic / industrial acts.
Eurythmics were a really good band back in the early 80's! I didn't really like the way they became more "funky" as the 80's progressed, but that happened to most bands. :(
thumbs up if you watch in 3D without the glasses
