  • This is really cool tom!!!!

  • @xoxoPriority thank you! Right now it looks like it got attacked be a lemon and lime!! LOL! (I shared a photo at Facebook in case you wondering) I really appreciate you checking this out! :D

  • Wow you are amazing. The detail in your videos are great. I've just started off using clay and i don't have enough money to actually by appliances or clay I just make my own and use stuff like pencils or butter knifes but hopefully I can be as good as you one day.

  • @DragonBornLeader Thank you I appreciate it! You would be surprised how many different things you find around the house that can be used as a sculpting tool.. but if you use stuff meant for food like spoons, knifes, and pasta machines.. be sure to KEEP them for clay only afterwords. And sculpting is not a matter of skill, its more an enjoyment and a means to express yourself. Just keep sculpting and you will eventually do more. Thanks again!

  • I've been watching your videos for the last month or so. They've really inspired me to get back to working with polyclay. Your video editing and narration of the process really helps. You've got this video thing down man. Also, the little digressions about how you are testing various methods or techniques are also very enlightening. This is just the kind of stuff that we need on YouTube. If you never posted another video, I would still be thankful for what you have given us. Cheers dude!

  • @CherenkovBlues ...thank you so much.. That really means a lot to me. I am not the best video maker and despite what people say, not the best narrator either.. But I DO try my best! And to hear things like that really makes feel like I am doing something right... I'm not always sure about everything, so thank you for the boost in confidence! ..much needed, thank you!

  • I do have one question, what was the material/item you used to smooth the clay out? i hate having My finger inprints on my work...?

  • @Goomba1002 It was a empty laminating card (plastic) I use it when I can, it shows me where the low spots are, very useful. =D

  • @TheBroodingTom Oh, thank you :)

  • Tom, You have inspired me so so much :) your sculpting is superb and i have watched ALL of your videos, keep up the good work! Thank you for being such a good inspiration, (Alien = Epic) Thanks :)

  • @Goomba1002 Thank is awesome, thank you!

  • @TheBroodingTom No problem keep it up :)

  • how do you get your clay to stay so clean???? i always get a peace of lint or dust in mine.

  • @inkheartfan1 umm.. I dunno LOL But when I do get something on it like a hair or something, I use a steel dentist's pick to remove it. ..other then that, I got nothing xD

  • asome,nice work!!!

  • @ImClayMara Thank you!

  • oh my gosh, this is incredible!!!! :D the brain looking details are just amazing!!! :D

  • @LlamaBoyProductions Thank you!

  • Hey your intro looks great! what did you change?

  • @LlamaBoyProductions My exposure compensation was set to [auto] so I turned it off.. It was brilliant looking afterwards! I want to do a line-rider animation, something simple.. It only took me about a hour to make that intro, including making the letters from clay too! Thanks for noticing! (damn that just sounded like Eeyore!! LOL)

  • awesome!!! I love the detail of the brain

  • AWSOME!!! turning out even better than i thought it would. and i thought it was going to be great!

  • So cool ^_^ mmmm "BRAINS" lol great job Its looking so cool

  • @CRAFTSANDSTUFF09 Thank you!! =D

  • @TheBroodingTom Yourwelcome

  • Seriously, this is incredible, you're a genius! The detail is astounding!

  • @TruthSeekingElf Wow, thank you so much! I really appreciate that!!! =O

  • It's perfect! Who can say that is NOT what an alien brain looks like? Plus, those details kinda remind me of some of the heads when the football helmet is removed...

  • @strube1369 LOL Like "hat hair" I know.. the wife said the SAME thing when she first seen it!! LOL

  • Comment removed

  • Aaaah I just had an idea to incorporate the glowinthedark clay! Y'kniw how every one wants veins? Make them with glowin the dark!!!

  • @m0ship0t Not a bad idea.. the only problem with this glow clay is if you mix color into it, even a little bit, it losses some of the brightness of the glow. And if you cover it with other clay, you will not see it at all.. you would have to use pure translucent to cover the veins to actually see them. I want to maybe do pen-striping, like I did with my glow frog....? Kinda like highlight it here and there.. Thank you for the feed back!

  • I think it would be cool if you made the skin look like it was peeling in one area

  • @LollipopHugger98 LOL ..like a zombie?

  • everytime i bake the bottom of my sculptures burn :(

  • @IHeArTrOcK20 Burn? Or does it just darken a bit? I use a sheet of wax paper between the sculpture and sheet pan, if that helps any. And you should buy a thermometer to check if you oven has accurate temperate.. if its not right you can make a mark on the knob where 275 degrees is. Hope that helps =/

  • @TheBroodingTom they get black-ish some more than others ill try the wax sheet because the only part that burns is the bottom

  • Clearly Mountain Dew makes you a good at sculpting. I must purchase some. ( 7:24 on the desk, lol)

  • @BeyondBracelets LOL.. We just recycled 110 pounds of Mountain Dew can not too long ago.. we drink WAY too much of that stuff! ...OMG, I am drinking one right now! Seriously though... the fountain drinks are the best! =D Thanks for saying I am good at sculpting!!

  • @TheBroodingTom Dude, start saving the tabs and send them my way. I'd love you even more than I already dew.

Get it? Dew? Okay, leaving now before I make a bigger fool of myself. lol!

  • mhmmmm! BRRRAAAINss....

  • @Frozensoft =P

  • O-O Awesome

  • @ZenithRadProductions Thanks!

  • I actually think you should do something to the mouth, not sure what but i don't really like how the mouth looks right now, how about something crazy weird like a 3rd eye inside the mouth haha? Or a glow in the dark tongue? Teeth? Fangs?

  • @BagiClaymations LOL It has been cooked for like 2 hours now.. I can do more with the colored clay part.. but I was going for a friendly alien.. as opposed to a "kill you dead" alien .. I am going to try to work glow clay into the skin somehow, like maybe neat patterns or some thing =D

  • SCARY!!!!!!!!AHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

  • The brain structure is awesome. Your video and your voice really calm me down when i come home stressed out from work :) thanks for that

  • @Looryn WOW.. that's awesome! well, I'm glad to be able to help!

  • Really excellent, great technique.

  • @cityzenkane108 I try to keep it simple, using simple methods.. really cause I don't know any other way LOL Thank you!

  • SWEET! love the brain idea! looking wicked Tom keep at it! :)

  • @BerryliciousDecay Thank you I sure will!

  • make it scary! change the mouth to have fangs!

  • @laughablemania ...just think of all the things he knows... that we don't.. now THAT'S scary!! LOL Anyhow, its kinda turning out to be cute, or indifferent. =P

  • Oooooooo, love the additions! And the brain is just perfect! :D

ps you could try painting 2D veins with a wee brush... I wonder what would happen if you 'sandwiched' painted veins within the sculpy?

  • @TheBabbleBeast That's an interesting question... I was wondering the same thing, but instead of painting the veins, use clay instead.. ..paint the sculpture (after cooking) then add veins using polymer clay, THAN wrap it in pure translucent!!?! hmmm.. I just have to test that idea! I have reheated painted sculptures in the oven before without any problem believe it or not lol But colored clay could be used for skin as well. Either way. Thank you btw!!

  • @TheBroodingTom :) So many techniques to discover, so little time, huh?! lol ;D

  • So intense :P

  • @DemonicRainbows LOL ...yeah?

  • It's looking so good cant wait for more. Amazing talent!!!!

  • @2009ladybugz That means so much, thank you!

  • Wow Tom! You're sculptures are fantastic! Keep it up! :D

  • @AnaestheticGas Thank you!

  • PS - for vein work, do you air brush? Perhaps painting veins on. Just tossing some ideas here. Take it the direction you want - its your creation. And so far, so good! Applause!

  • @ImTheDaveman I have not done any airbrushing yet.. I want to try though. I already have the compressor but need to get a new gun because its a old setup. Thanks for reminding about that!! =O As for the ears, I figured it would be better making those from the colored clay I mix up for the skin.. instead of trying to cover something like that. I'm gonna give it BIG elf ears!!! Just kidding! LOL xD Seriously though.. the smaller the better in my opinion.. Thanks for the feed back!

  • I am impressed with the direction you're taking the alien. Its as though you were creating an original alien as reference for a major Hollywood movie. Very original and awesome work with the brains and neck features! Just don't create a Zombie sculpture and set it too close to the alien or its lunch time. *smiles*

Suggestion; For ears I think just a hole on either side of his head would be great - maybe make them as slight slits or oval shape perhaps.

  • wow great sculpture

  • @ImJustCommenting Thank you! =D

  • Looking Awesome Tom

  • @TUCKERZONE Thank you so much!

  • I said this to you before but I like everything about the alien but the nose. It's WAY to human. You could take that nose and put it on half the people in Hollywood! like Sara Jessica Parker, That Screech guy from "Saved by the Bell" ? and they wold look better than they do with their own nose.

I also like the green eye treatment your working on, can hardly wait till your next "episode!"

  • @bigskip2121 LOL ..maybe when its green it will look a bit more... "other-worldly" LOL Thank you! I will try not to make you wait too long. =D (I can't wait either) =P

  • This is amazing. Every video you put up of this model it just gets better and better. I really like where you have gone with this. You used a piece of plastic a couple of time. Was that just to help out the smoothing of it ?. The eye you should at the end I thought look awesome. It would be so nice to see that on the whole of the model I must say. Looking forward to seeing the next video Tom.

  • @markasomerville Thank you, I really appreciate that! And that plastic thing I used is what you would laminate a business card with. Its firm, yet flexible enough to match the contour of most surfaces I work on. Using that you can easily see low spots too.. I can't always use it, but when I can it works good! Thank you so much, glad you are enjoying this!!!

  • AWEESOME WORK! Also, if you need reference for alien brains, look up the movie Mars Attacks by Tim Burton, the aliens in that were basically skeletons with huge brains. It's a very underrated movie, and it's worth checking out. Epic sculpture nonetheless!

  • @TransfatylvaniaFilms Ya, I never thought of that LOL. I never seen that movie either... I'll be sure to check it out, thank you!!

  • wow this is awesome!

  • @webkinzstripe Thank you!

  • I think your Alien Sculpture has his own personality, I like all the work you have done with him I cant wait to see the final product though. Awesome!!! Keep up the good work :)

  • @EmeralDQueenTV Depending on how I position the eyelids the personality can change a lot. Right now he looks a bit... happy. So by giving a rainbow-like eyelid pattern I can enhance this I think. I may just do a indifferent look to it though.. I dunno. Thanks for the feed back!
