this game is awesome, it's nothing like Shogun. Shogun Total War is cool, but this game has detail, SO MUCH DETAIL! from marriage, to heirs, to vassals who you trust, becoming pretenders for the throne, to ronin, to fully managing your clan. This game has more depth than you might realize, don't judge it by some crappy trailer.

@Equinoxmies well it's to simple,almost no variables,it completly sucks for a strategy game,it sucks compared to EU3,Victoria 2 and other paradox games,the economy system is very primitive,it basically only has the military component(and it's also to damn simple),well i hated it,in first 10 minutes of play i got tired of it,you can always download it first to try,you can find it on piratebay or something...i disliked it,it's my opinion,you might like it.

Crusader kings 2 got out,much better.

@hilletehnoob I pre-ordered Crusader Kings 2 and it's great game. At least I thought Sengoku is quite similar and as great as CK2. Actually Crusader Kings 2 and Victoria are my favourites. I like Total Wars too and have all of them but I think something between paradox games and total wars could be awesome. Perhaps it's easier said that done. Thank you for advice, maybe I download Sengoku first and try out it.

I just played this game for about 5 hours and it doesnt realy seem to be any more complex than shogun 2, i even would go so far as to say shogun 2 offers more strategic depth + of course the huge real time battles where as sengoku offers more complexity in the family and clan systems which for some reason makes it feel more like a sim than a grand stategy game..

No real time battles like shogun total war, FAR deeper diplomacy system, and the whole game would play soooooooo different from shogun total war. I bet if you played, then assuming its like other paradox games, i bet you wouldn't know wtf to do if you played it. This game would be much more complex and deeper than shogun total. But im not saying its better, because it probably isn't.

LoL I almost purchased this game in steam thinking it was somehow associated with S2TW. It might be a good game but anyone pretending that this game is somehow better in strategy than TW is delirious. TW is the father of all EPIC strategy games.

@SaintMichael82 If you have never tried it you are not one to make that assesment. Trust me, the avarage Paradox strategy game is a lot more complex than any TW game. If thats your cup of tea is a different matter entirely and neither game is better at "strategy". They are both very different.

I play both and enjoy both. However if you want a real strategic challenge and dont mind a lot of depth and different layers and bad graphics, i'd recommend paradox games any day.

@Kh4yl Some of us enjoyed the campaign map on Total War, but always felt that it lacked depth. EU3 is the Total War campaign map that I always dreamt of. The RTS part of Total War is fun, but is broken by how useless the AI is. Creative Assembly still haven't given us real multiplayer, yet EU3 managed it out of the box.

@dotjeanpaul Yup, because Total war simply does the absolute best there ever could be of battles, Paradox knows there's no competing with that, but they do know they can totally best total war's campaign with complexity, realisticness, and simply create a campaign so fun it makes up for the fact that there are no battles.

Paradox games... in the other hand... they belong to a completely different class of games, the GRAND STRATEGY GAMES. Total War fanboys. Yes, total war used to be amazing, used to put the concept of strategysimulation before graphics. The first Shogun Total war, the first Medieval Total war, they were indeed incredible games. They must have known that Creative was preparing Shogun 2 Total War many months before it's release, and they try to compete with them!!! Total War has trampled over every other wannabee strategy game, and in this market, they have been the de facto "Fittest of the fit". While Sengoku looks good, unless it puts you in direct control of player like Paradox's Mount and Blade, I see no way it could be as good as Shogun, and Im no simpleton. I understand epic strategy, but you sir are wrong.
