  • fucking epic!

  • Wow. Do I ever hate this version of Pink Floyd! I've only liked a few pieces of theirs after this album came out, but this is one of their shittier pieces of dreck, and put to scenes of 2001 is insulting. This music is so lame!!

  • @pacific707 Pink Floyd isn't really that good

  • @Colton5 Agreed!

  • @pacific707

Are you kidding the moment that funky bass line comes in is probably is the greatest moment in music and its fits so perfect with the movie. Kubrick wanted them to put music to his flick, but circumstances made it so they made the music after. By the way Pink Floyd is really that good, in fact they're the best.

  • I heard pink floyd was interested in doing the actual sound track for this film? They had already done a few underground movie soundtracks already before 69 or 70? That one India hippie movie with the mudmen.. All the rich hippies got on a funbus said later San francisco, I only seen pictures so i don't really know?..It would have been cool if the funbus went into the ocean and hit the ocean sea floor highway and just drove partied all the way there..I'm trippin on my oyster soup and saltines

  • ahh such a soft smooth voice as smoothe as butter. no, as smoothe as well, an inconcievibly smoothe substande, i got it! No fat whip cream. that's how smoothe his voice is.

  • this is music very good

  • 28 people were too comfortably numb to hit the like button ... no edukashun!

  • @whatisitfawlty 'shitty music'

    are you fuckin retarded?

  • @blandortaker he or she is indeed.

  • if heaven's real, i hope this is the entrance music.

  • I admire and consider both Roger Waters and Stanley Kubrick as one of my personal heroes, but I don't agree that the music and the movie sequence go synchronized here.

Was this a good experience for me? Sure. I listened one of my best songs and watched one of my best movies all the time, but I don't think there's any connection. At least it's obvious (if you look at the production dates) there was no intention at all by Kubrick. By Roger Waters? I don't think so.

  • Kubrick did talk with Pink Floyd about using their music, but it was the "Before Meddle" period

I think it was Saucer full of Secrets

  • 27 people who disliked this video are mad because their bongs are empty.

  • Muy buenoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • Always a pleasure to listen to and always will be .

Pink Foyd is my all time favourite

  • this is one of my favorite albums and movies, so this vid caught my attention, if you sync up dark side of the moon with the wizard of oz you'll find it interesting I think, hit play on dark side at the third roar of the m.g.m. lion at the start.

  • @TheMadmac59 thanks for the advice !! i'll try it !

  • Kubrick and Waters. What else can one ask for?

  • @gmstr515 Gilmore. lol

  • @Swholli its spelled Gilmour

but hey, whos payin' attention well I am

  • @XWiseXGuy Oh well shit, that was a typo man. Fraudian slip. lol

I had even Googled it just to make sure I got it right and didn't even bother reading what I wrote.

Anyway, point was though, Gilmour was an amazing singer and guitarist, and while Water's was an amazing lyricist and bassist, his singing wasn't all that great, in my opinion. Regardless, Waters and Gilmour made an amazing team, it's just I don't think you can just leave him out like that.

  • pink floyd MADE this song to go with this scene, it's not a coincidence

  • @jbenz1993 echoes was originally 4 or 5 pieces of music .They did not write it for this scene .The movie was long out before meddle was released. Echoes fits a ton of movies .

  • this is pure orgasmus for soul

  • alright, props. echos went good with that scene, especially when it was showing jupiter and its moons

  • They tried to smash that cosmic rectangle just recently.

  • I just watched this movie last night and thought it was right up pink floyd's alley! Glad to see other people feel the same way! :D

  • Pink Floyd makes Space Odessey that much cooler to watch :)

  • @MichaelMorbius4ever by the time of this movie release, most of Pink Floyd music (including Echoes) was not yet produced.

  • fake and gay. ive tried this before because my friends forced tme to and it didnt even work you just make it seem liek it does sci fi fags

  • @ReshaValentine1000 you're either a troll or a member of the undead zombies. you should be exterminated regardless.

  • whoooooooooooooo that's so fucking great! pink floyd + kubrick's images from odyssey = i'll see this until i die!

  • this music fits perfectly!

  • i love to get stoned and listen to this shit

  • 26 dislike ?? haha ppl just dont have good choice in music.. fags!!!

  • @maakaladlabigadgaya Really? "fags!!!". What, are you in 5th grade?

  • @photolitherland HA I know right .

  • watch?v=b6tZLkIRpJU watch in 720p

  • SUPERB.

    Thank you.

  • Ends too soon, what a waste !

  • watch this the other night and finally got the ending. They touch the monolith on the moon and it sends a signal to Jupiter. That signal told them where to find the next monolith. That's where Bowman goes; beyond space and time to find the next monolith, but he can't touch it. Mankind isn't ready, they are still infants (the baby Bowman). The monolith they touched on the moon evolves man beyond space and time, where they can touch the next monolith, evolving us into something even more.

  • You must have some decent stuff, celticrune12345.

  • funny

  • @snk07 does this imply that they are gay? I do not believe it one bit.

  • @Swordmasterninja i dont like you sir

  • This is BS. Ain't that synchronized as to be worth anything more than a reefer.

  • Just too Cool!!

  • I think Pink Floyd was offered to write the music for the movie while it was in development, and they turned it down... I think Roger Waters said that was one of his greatest regrets.

  • what the fuuuuuck this deserves a nobel prize

  • A brilliant conglomeration of Pink Floyd's magic with Stanley Kubrick and A.C Clarke's imagination. This is a work of art ....a masterpiece.....

  • nerdy question, is this footage from a film print or a DVD? the reason is I want to know the frame rate... If it's film or NTSC the it wuld be 24 FPS or 30 FPS with frame dropdown where as with PAL it would be 25 FPS (to make up the extra frame they just speed to footage up by 9% I think)

  • It's like the perfect marriage!

    Pink Floyd " Echoes" + 2001: A space Odyssey .. damn!

    This is life!

  • Stanley and Pink Floyd are great, but let's not forget about the man who put this story on paper, the great sci fi author, Arthur C Clarke!

  • @CtrlRm

Thank you! Some one finally said it. You ever read childhoods end?

  • @CtrlRm Arthur C Clarke and Kubrick worked on the screenplay together BEFORE Arthur C published it as a book

  • @CtrlRm I've read the book, and didn't quite like it, it felt like an excuse to speak his ideas out and how much he knew about physics , logic, and astronomy. It could have been much less reptitive and descriptive. It's a good reading though but I think this one of those rare cases where a film based on a book improves the written word. Cheers

  • Also Sprach Gilmour

  • pink floyd y kubrick la mezcla perfecta para perder la cabeza en la inmensidad del cosmos......... gracias!

  • My song ''Waves'' is influenced by this song. check it out please. Pink Floyd is amazing.

    Peace

  • Trippy as hell.

  • 25 people were too high to remember the different between the thumbs up and down icons

  • @ignorgasm

haaaahahahahhaha Yeeeaah! LOOOL! Best Comment Ever!

  • WOW, and I don't say that often on yt. Floyd and Kubrick. My favourite music played to my favourite movie. This works so well. Brilliant.

  • Estamos haciendo el mas maravilloso viaje con la nave Tierra ,trasladándonos y rotando en el espacio ....por si fuera poco....es gratis ...

  • Google video has an un-segmented version.

To diy, start the echoes track a slit second before the Jupiter... title appears. i time it be keeping the volume up on the original track. After dave fades, the audio continues, fades, then is abruptly cut. A split second (wait for it!) after that, unpause the Echoes track. If your cd player doesn't it may be slow by some few ms, but should be fine.

you got it right if the 3rd ping hits right after the Jupiter title cuts to the starfield.

    enjoy!

  • fuck the 25 ppl who didnt like this song

  • @darklight675 who are this people you talk about?

  • look at the thumbs up and thumbs down thing. 25 ppl didnt like this video

  • @darklight675 25 tone-deaf mental midgets

  • 25 justin beiber fans.

  • This is a musical EVENT. They should be doing this in cinemas as a kind of 'special performance'. Oh, let me guess, WMG are gonna get their noses poked in it and that won't happen.

  • hay varios nabos qe dijeron q no les gusto ...q papanaatas

  • no me gusto.

  • What a privilege it must be to see the Solar System from these perspectives.

  • Even better version (FULL) David Gilmour live in gdansk .. lazers a plenty !!

  • soothing....

  • Im sorry metamorphosis, I cannot help you with that.

  • The Atom Heart Mother suite goes to this too- like, very very tightly. You should do that next!

  • sounds like the beginning of "Das Boot" lol

  • One of the best tunes ever!

  • Ah this brings back memories...that, or it's just the acid from college :D

  • can someone do this in 740?

  • did i just go on a bad acid trip?

  • 2001 est un film mystique qui évoque Dieu et la réincarnation. les pink dans leur période planante c est la que je les aime ensuite c est de la merde

  • I think 2001 is a film than "évoque" the limitation of the human race, and the mistery of life. In other way, the book of Athur C.Clarke is just a story about evolution, and all the final travel is a travel around the universe, with Bowman that has evolved like the monkeys.

  • breathtaking. i recommend everyone to watch this on an HD projector on shrooms...religious experience

  • Hahaha! Looks like THE MATRIX with the TEXTP shiznit lol- Totally awesome- greatest film ever conceived or produced- better than the bible!

  • whats the name of this song

  • Echoes

  • I hope when I die I'll be hearing this music

  • ECHOS--Deep classic Pick Floyd! Materpiece!

  • somebody tell me what song this is!!!

    its so trippy man

  • Hey guys I just uploaded this video in 3 parts set to Shine On You Crazy Diamond (live version recorded in LA 1975). It fits really well. Check it out it`s on my channel! :)

  • I wish I knew what David was seeing

  • oh, and turn it up a lil more.....

  • pass the spliff man............

  • And everything is green and submarine.

  • single planet species have no future, because a mass extinction event is going to wipe out us all, sooner or later

  • well that sure was stating the obvious. We will die some day, the planet most surely will go to a flaming end at some point due to some astronomical disaster. If knowing this is reason enough for you to come to a flaming end, please do.

  • So you agree with Stephen Hawking, that the hope for mankind resides in the colonisation of space.(Good point!)

  • How do I escape this shithole of a world?

    ...the answer is becoming clearer.

  • Very, very, very cool dude. And I'm a movie editor.

  • And i am you

and what i see is me

  • Oh yes...

  • well its way passed 2001 and weare still siting our asses

  • I agree. It's 9 years after 2001, and we're nowhere near the vision of Arthur C. Clarke.

NASA has been adrift for the past 3 decades, thanks to an over-reliance on the space shuttle. They need to refocus and think about realistic, yet aspiring goals for manned spaceflight.

Not to take away from NASA's robotic missions, of course, which have been tremendously successful.

  • single planet species have no future ... mankind has to go to the stars, otherwise we will be wiped out be a mass extinction even, sooner or later ..

  • Not sure why people are having problems with your comments they seem self evidently true(obvious even)to me.

  • Blotter Floyd The 80's Loved it Still alive

  • @hippiedboy this wasn't written in the 80s you moron

nor was any of the floyd's good stuff

  • trip.

    ;]

  • Looks fine, don't worry about all the professional opinions. There spending there time so it's good.

  • not action packed but very epic and suspenseful...

  • I thought Echoes synced better with 2001 than DSOTM did with Wizard of Oz.

  • I concur.

  • sarebbe stato bello vedere i pink floyd sotto 2001... se ne era parlato, poi niente.

  • You obviously have never timed them together. This video doesn't show the entirety of the song and also doesn't have the movie's soundtrack playing either. Both coincide nicely with each other and last another 10 minutes or so. Give it a try sometime. You might be pleasantly surprised. So much so it might make you comfortably numb.

  • Pink Floyd = Genius

    Stanley Kubrick = Genius

Pink Floyd + Stanley Kubrick =......<3

  • So perfect

  • @snk07

    GENIUS²

  • @snk07

LOL... Pink Floyd + Stanley Kubrik = Super Computer maybe?

  • @snk07 =Orgasm

  • @welker831 MIND ORGASM

  • Perfect.

  • floyd and 2001!!!!!!! perfect.

the best in music and cinema....in my oppinion

  • One of the coolest songs ever to one of the coolest movies ever -- I dig it.

  • PURE MUSICAL PEFECTION

  • Psychodelicious!

  • and i am you and what i see is me

  • magnificaaaaaa perfettaaaaaa (come il video del resto)

  • NO, REALLY??

  • Yeah apparently waters of pink floyd was really upset that Andrew Lloyd Webber (The Phantom of the Opera composer) copied part of echoes

  • echoes came first, lloyd-webber copied

  • @backendofhorse

    so....its still alreeete! :)

  • This song was written before The Phantom of The Opera. If you read the Wikipedia entry for the song, you'll see that Pink Floyd realized that Andrew Lloyd Webber might have ripped the note progression off from this song.

  • Espetacular!!!

  • DIO CANEEEEEEEEEEEEE

  • This version doesn't quite work with the film.

  • oh yesssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

  • can someone explain how this song "goes" with the film. I heard that it was as if Pink Floyd timed it perfectly with it. I admit it goes nicely but none of the big musical cues go with the big events in the film. When the lasers start coming out of space, nothing new happens with the music like you would expect from a song that supposedly goes perfectly to this film. What I've come to realize is that Pink Floyd goes to everything. It goes to cartoons, commercials, even fat people hoolahooping.

  • @bronsonallen Sure. If you are in the right frame of mind, the right sort of place, and under (or capable) of the sort of thinking that leads to pure focus, you might notice how Echoes is quite clearly synchronous to the ending of 2001.

But what you've realized is false. You can apply their songs to random video for effect, but not in this case. Tom and Jerry, Pink Floyd does not want.

  • Well i think Pink floyd did a fantastic job with the "More" soundtrack

  • I think the original version is wonderful.

I think this version is also wonderful.

    Get lives, people

  • I'm gay!

  • Cool.

  • this is the same version, man....-_-

  • This is not the version in the movie.

This has pink floyd added in.

I think they are both great.

I don't see how people had a problem with that.

    Weird!

  • agreed. pink floyd could never fill in for strauss. 2001 was a classic and still remains a classic as long as its not touched by any other media. i admit john williams couldn't even make this movie better. this film is too perfect.

  • total retard here

  • Thanks for checking in, retard.

  • RickWagons what the fuck is your problem. This scene is fucking amazing with this song on it.

  • He gave his opinion no need to ask him what the fuck his problem is

  • ya, good thing that Kubric didn't change the score of his film 5 years after it was made

  • PureJeenyus: what you've just written is PureReetarded, if you're criticizing what I posted. Kubrick offered Floyd the job and they refused. He ended up paying some other prick to do a soundtrack, realized it sucked, and put some Schubert in there.

Put down the bong, rethink your comment...and go fuck yourself.

  • da kunt ge nu toch geen muziek noemen :s

  • Beter als dit kan en zal muziek niet meer worden.

  • Beter dan dit

  • Juist ja, excuses

Maar dat was het punt niet :-p

  • Would be possible if Warner Bros to have a 2001 box set , but have Echoes on this scene as a 'bonus' feature or something. As long as EMI/and the rest of Pink Floyd agree on it.

  • theres your problem, pink floyd is stingy on their cataloge, and what get puts out

  • agreed.

  • Hahah hiiii

  • such a wierd scene but it makes sense after you understand it

  • I don't suppose that you can explain it to me?

  • It works off the original "Meddle"; side one
