I used to get this comic as a young lad back in the sixties and I think they have done a great job. The style of the drawings is spot on, the plots are tight with punches and twists and yes, I think the accent is appropriate and that is coming from someone with a home counties and cockney accent who can do most voices and does so part-time for a living. The main thing is that I really enjoy it. He was my hero and vicarious kindred spirit and this series fans the embers of my mischieviousness.
I love all cartoons, so the change doesn't affect me too personally. However I understand why people may dislike it as it doesn't provide some of the qualities of the precedor.

Ive got a stack of annuals from years before(hes too old now) sent to my son from his nan, and none of them have got the spider in....Did I mention my sons also got a pet tarantula - called the Trminator...I hasten to add, I dont go in his room much(teenager).
Oh, you're welcome! I don't blame you for not knowing because Dasher wasn't as prominent as Gnasher and Rasher and only appeared on occasion; plus, his appearance changed. But I bet your son's tarantula is a bit more scary!

@TeaCub His spider is very scary. It lives in a plastic see-through box near his bed, and has red eyes which follow you round the room.He also has a big box of wheaty stuff to breed worms in for its dinner.He says his little hairy friend eats them like speghetti.
aaah, I'm not sure. I know he's played around with a lot of cyberstuff in his time, but nothing in particular rings a bell as a pet (unless you count the giant Gnasher spaceship he got in the 1998 annual).

I agree with RifRaf.. I grew up with Beano too 1970-1980's and it looks way too childish.. Dennis the menace looked older, more menacing, he had a big chin he looked older and certainly if a cartoon was made he wouldnt be made to sound like a 5 year old.. Gnasher is drawn terribly too.. Why is it cartoonists never respect the previous cartoonist's work?

aaah, I'm not sure. I know he's played around with a lot of cyberstuff in his time, but nothing in particular rings a bell as a pet (unless you count the giant Gnasher spaceship he got in the 1998 annual).
