Osceola is one of the birds we have at the American Eagle Foundation. Challenger and Osceola live at the same facility (the American Eagle Foundation)in Pigeon Forge, TN along with many other non-releasable eagles and other birds of prey. You can see the Osceola video on our website (eagles.org) and also on our YouTube channel.
If you think this is great you need to see the Eagles @ Dollywood in Tennessee. Osceola is my favorite...I cried the first time I saw only one wing.....there is a neat video of the trainer that took Osceola for a flight...changed him forever. Osceola is a learning tool for the American Eagle Foundation. The story of this bird is amazing as are the stories of the others living & breeding in East Tennessee.
Nice eagle from a great nation. Though I am european it's thanks to the USA that we live in freedom over here and I am gratefull for that. I hope the balance of power remains with the americans and europeans.
I love this message and tribute to our nations Bird. I live in northern Iowa and today I saw one here. What an amazing creature to see up close and just sitting in a tree. When I was taking a picture of it it just sat there and looked around not even caring I was around. What a site. I also saw a hawk just moments before seeing the Eagle. What a nation we can be so proud of.
What a majestic bird! We used the Bald Eagle in an animation for our Feather Project trailer that is inspired by Native American Leader Chief Oren Lyons, feel invited to check it out...
sad to say when challenger passes some of America goes with him he'll always will be remebered by Americans. When any bald eagle goes most of America goes with them. God blessed us with such majestic creatures as bald eagles.God bless the U.S.A!
I almost Drown on my tears,I've always been fascinated with bold Eagles. Reading the story of Challenger touch my heart. I love this country and everything we stand for, and This bird being the symbol of strenght, liberty and freedom its all i need to be Proud of being an American. God Bless the USA!!!!!!
this is one of the most inspirational videos on You Tube. I love it. My hard drive just blew up and I lost all of my files. Challenger is one of the first things I went looking ior today.
eagles at a very old age dont wither out and die, it's been said by native people they go up to the mountains look for a stone wall and the slam there claws, beak cause of there beak has curved alot since of the old age, they also slam there wings against the stone ground, it seems like it is giving up but it actually is renewing there strength, in the days ahead it'll be stronger then it was before. these are true avents, awesome story
To date, Challenger performed free-flights at 5 MLB World Series openers, 3 NFL Pro-Bowl ll-Star games, 4 Fiesta Bowls, 1 NCAA Men's Final Four Championship, 1 BCS College National Title Championship, 2 NCAA Men's World Series of Baseball Championships, 1 AFC Champtionship, 1 Men's Professional Soccer National Championship, 1 Insight Bowl, and many more professional and college sporting events and non-sporting special events coast to coast.
Challenger's awesome. I was very fortunete to see Challenger with my own eyes. I was working at Gillette Stadium in 2002 when they were rehearsing Challenger and since I had seen him perform before on TV I knew who he was. It was before the gates opened. I was setting up my beer cart in the 300 level getting everything ready. At the same time he was being brought to the top of the stadium and he was sitting on his perch, blindfolded cause they didn't want him to be scared.

This is amazing. I have several favorited vids of Challenger on another acct, since this one is just for the obvious, but Haliaeetus leucocephalus is one of the most beautiful eagles in the world, along with H. vocifer, its African cousin.
My account favors what actually got started in America, the greatest country in the world to be, despite all our flaws.
Challenger is most welcome to also come to one of our heritage harvesting shows, where he will be treated to fresh fish, too!
I NEED my weekly "fix" of this video. He is soooooooooo awesome, beautiful and handsome. God bless you Challenger and thank you for being here when we now need yyou the most.
I can't get enough of this video and what all Eagles represent...... Thank you for saving this beautiful Eagle! I love you Challenger and all your brothers and sisters!
Challenger's nest was blown from the tree (in Louisiana) about 20 years ago -- a fisherman happened by in a boat, saw the nest down with the parents flying up above. At that time, Challenger was about 5 weeks old. The fisherman rescued the baby, cared for him and then tried to release him when he was old enough, but Challenger did not know how to take care of himself because he was human-imprinted.
You know, it is videos like this that truely inspire us as Americns. This is the type of video I would be proud to be a part of, and all those that this great country has to thank for our freedom, the veterans that gave of themselve, the spouses that went alone and some that never saw their loved one return, as one who has felt the wrath of war, thank you o all that support us. Best wishes to Challenger and his future "explorations". DRC US Navy, Ret.
My husband and I were lucky enough to help rescue a young bald eagle in our area of Tennessee. It was send to the eagle foundation of Dollywood. This was the greatest honor I feel any human could experience. I have kept up with the progress of "our eagle" and am proud to report there is possibly a chance for his release beck into the wild. This video of Challenger was amazing.
Magnificent bird! PLEASE all see The Golden Eagle Trust website and sign the Irish petition against poisoning eagles. What a beautiful video. Challenger is incredible and nothing better then a bald eagle to represent America...God bless you Challenger and your handler for a job well done...Thank you
In early 1989, Challenger was blown from a wild nest as a baby during a storm, and was hand raised by the people who found him. Unfortunately, he experienced too much human contact at a very young age and became highly "human socialized." As a result, "Challenger" thinks he's a person, and cannot survive on his own in the wild.
Absolutely FABULOUS! What a beautiful song as well! All school children in America should be given the opportunity to see this video and to learn about eagles and what the symbolism means. Thanks to all who produced this! Any sequels?

this video is cool. once i saw a Bald Eagle in the wild. it was the coolest thing i have ever seen in the wild in real life (not on TV or net). i will never forget that day
Great video!!! Awesome, I have never seen a Eagle like that.. I wish it could go free, but I think It in the right hands!! I would love to see it in person!!!!
This is SO AWESOME!!! The goosebumps I get every time I watch it are so big they hurt! But IT is SO worth it!!! When watching it I feel the Awesomeness of GOD"S creations!
Oh, my goodness, this is GORGEOUS. Tears flowing from my eyes - in gratitude for our troops, for the symbol of strength the Eagle symbolizes ... thank you, Challenger, 10 stars and an add to my playlist!

We saw them years ago, flying near Albuquerque, NM, while on the tram ride to the top of Sandia peak. Wow, they are awesome and what a great symbol for our nation.
You made my day with this out-of-this world video of this beautiful eagle flying and how tame he is. I will save this video forever and also send it to my children. What a beautiful way to get away from the bad stuff on the news every day. God bless you.
Living in Maine I am blessed to have a place to see these magnificent animals during breeding and fledging season, it is wonderful that some people who would not normaly see these wonderful creatures can. I have always been in awe of these bird, thier devotion to each other and their hatchlings. I liked this video
I love Eagles and collect stuff with Eagles on them and what not, but I have never seen one up close like that. It would just make my day if I would be able to have one rest on my arm.
This is so amazingly beautiful. What a symbol of freedom he represents. I could not be prouder to be an American and so glad I served my Country. God Bless America!!!!!
That brought back memories. I will never forget that day. The eagle reminded us that we are all Americans. And we must stand together in the land of the free.
That brought back memories. The eagle reminds us that we are all Americans and we must stand together as the land of the free. We are a blessed country and we must never forget that.
WOW !! What an amazing video !! I have to admit it brought tears to my eyes. Remembering all those who lost their lives on 9/11. Also, all of our Military men & women fighting for our wonderful country. I am a Marine Mother myself. God Bless & be with all who are servinng or who have served our country !! THANK YOU !!
This is beautiful! It's calming and very touching.
We have such beauty out there that so many just take for granted. It's like stopping to smell the roses. We need to take time to take in all of America's beauty, and appreciate it, while we still can
It's actually performed (and was written) by James Rogers, formerly the headliner at Dolly Parton's Music Mansion in Pigeon Forge, TN. Challenger lives at Dollywood, and Rogers performs there occcasionally.
nothing so beautiful, nothing so strong of spirit, nothing so moving as the love of a human for the animals of the earth. Our hearts will always be tied to this beautiful creature. As our hearts are tied to our Veterans. Thank you, my heart sings, this day of all days.
One flew over my car on the way to vote in Ohio last week - it made voting just that more memorable - like it was out of a commercial or something. I live pretty close to a wildlife refuge so we see a them every so often. Great video!
This is what it is to be American. If you don't watch this and get chills and maybe a tear or two;I guess maybe your not American!God-Bless to all Americans!!
I live in Upper MI and we have a lot of Bald Eagles in my area I never get tired of watching them fly. Some times even over my house or I see them while I am driving. Truelly a beautiful site to see. Makes me proud to be an American every time I see one
I hear ya. I am by Lake Charlevoix and love the sight of seeing them soar in the sky where I live. It is truly patriotic and warms the heart. God bless America!!
Have only seen two bald eagles in the "wild" in my lifetime. I feel the spirit of America when I see those proud birds. I also saw one flying right after my father died, I always think he sent it to me - just so I would know his spirit was flying free. Thank you. I'm so proud to be an American, I hope our country remains FREE like our founding fathers wanted it to be.
It's funny when you think that most of those birds are in British Columbia and Alaska. One can only wonder if the Bald Eagle would not have become Canada's bird had Cartier discovered the continent from the West instead of the East. But then, we wouldn't have the busy little beaver to represent us!! §:C)
The Bald Eagle is indeed a wonderful bird. And the more a tribute to your astronauts that this one be named Challenger!
I thought I'd let you know that, in addition to the others on here who regularly see them elsewhere in the US... we saw them regularly in Florida, and my husband saw them regularly in Montana. :-)
I'm a volunteer at the Center for Birds of Prey near Charleston, SC, & I am always humbled at the sight of these magnificent birds. They are the perfect God-given symbol of all the good & the brave of the USA!
Osceola is one of the birds we have at the American Eagle Foundation. Extremely moving. It's rare to see a free-flying bald eagle. Well done. Raptors rule!

This is beautiful! It's calming and very touching.
We have such beauty out there that so many just take for granted. It's like stopping to smell the roses. We need to take time to take in all of America's beauty, and appreciate it, while we still can
Thanks for sharing!

It's actually performed (and was written) by James Rogers, formerly the headliner at Dolly Parton's Music Mansion in Pigeon Forge, TN. Challenger lives at Dollywood, and Rogers performs there occcasionally.

The name of the singer is James Rogers. It's printed at the beginning of the video.

nothing so beautiful, nothing so strong of spirit, nothing so moving as the love of a human for the animals of the earth. Our hearts will always be tied to this beautiful creature. As our hearts are tied to our Veterans. Thank you, my heart sings, this day of all days.

for our freedom to fly. Enjoy your Veterans day, You have earned it.

One flew over my car on the way to vote in Ohio last week - it made voting just that more memorable - like it was out of a commercial or something. I live pretty close to a wildlife refuge so we see a them every so often. Great video!

And to think that Ben Franklin wanted the National Bird to be the Turkey! Man we would have never lived that down. lol

Couldn't have said it better myself! Thank you indeed!

How old does a Bald Eagle live, anyways?
pamibeau 3 years ago
I thought I'd let you know that, in addition to the others on here who regularly see them elsewhere in the US... we saw them regularly in Florida, and my husband saw them regularly in Montana. :-)
