  • Hello from a Grandchild of one of the Authors of this Beautiful Song, I am OBCB Music Publishing and my Grandmother wrote this song in 1954, I grew up listening to this song with others All my Life.. I love that it's made such a impact on the Internet, I have designed FORMS FOR INTERNET ACCOUNTING because of this song.. Look for ShockzoneCD here in the Net..

  • OMG........I LOVED THIS, JUST LOVED IT.

I remember you David, still Loving You.

  • For a short time I,m 17 again. This was before the Cuban Missile Crisis, JFK being assassinated, the Vietnam war and the protests against a corrupt government war machine> Have things changed that much? I,m afraid they have. We actually Talked to each other then!

  • Puts Edwards to shame!!!!! you r kidding, she screeches and is unbearable to listen to.

  • @1crankyvet your nuts

  • @1crankyvet To very great shame. I guess a lot of people agree with us about whose version is better. Look at the difference in sales. TE had some great songs, but Kathy Jean fits this one just right.

  • this is dedicated to my sweetheart Sue whom i love very much

  • this is great should be million hits on this ... they just dont and appreciate great music

  • she puts tommy edwards to shame............any questions??? usually i don't like someone else to copy someone else's song. but she blows him away............belie dat!!

  • NICE 1!!! THNX!!!

  • That is beautiful - never heard it before.

  • to jg048, thanks so much for your warm and kind words, i'm starting on my next 40 lol

  • They don't make beautiful music like this any more , but then again it is not a civilized world ,like when this music was made , I feel for these teenagers nowadays , they will never know about CYO dances , car hops and great times , Frank

  • @06131942 I agree with you, I grew up in the '80's and '90's but I'm well-aware that our society has regressed a lot since the '50's and '60's. Everything has really fallen apart and people are completely narcisstic and negative now. Our culture has become primitive and regressive, and all taste and class that people once had has dissapeared. Nowhere is this reflected better than in the music today.

  • I gotta luv this song forever

  • Congrats to oldysrg8. I hope you both have many more to come, all in good health and happiness. There aren't too many marriages that last as long as yours.

  • This was my, and my wifes wedding song in 1971 when we tied the knot, and am still with her, it will be 40 years in August.

  • Great memories of teen age dreams, first love, heartbreak and everything else..friends, family good times, enjoying every minute of our happy lives.Pea

  • Junior in high school in 1961. Life was good. No worries, no problems, so happy.

  • Yes I Also Would give It All Up for 1961 Again. Beautifull Memories !

  • This is my favorite version of this song. Thanks for the memories.

  • Great song, great voice , great version.

  • one of the best versions ever made tom thanks for posting , im a tom to the song must be catchy lol i love it

  • This is the one I REMEMBER!

The Room-mates, her voice was very different!

    LIKE IT!

  • Such screeching!! It was screeching then, and it's screeching now!!

  • thanks for bringing back the good times

  • One of the most romantic songs of the 60's....

  • I first heard this song in 1973 on KFQD radio in Anchorage, AK where I joined the US Communist Party for a few years and where in the 1950's Rosie Hamlin lived for a few years!!!

  • Another great slow dance million seller from one of many great female recording artist of that era. Cathy Jean and the Roomates had a wonderful arrangement of this song and her strong voice with the background harmony has made this a eternal favorite for those of us who lived it.

  • I DJ'ed at Orlando AFB in the 60's. This song was one of the favorites that the kids would ask for - and the floor would be crowded. I love her voice - this is a lover's song - thanks for the memory. Carol A. I hope you are happy and had a good live.....Jim

  • I was a DJ at Orlando AFB in the 60's and this song was requested many times - I usually made it a ladies choice...........thanks...........and to all those who went to the dances - hope you had a good life........God Bless..........

  • The thing thats unique about this song is that the Roomates and Kathy Jean did this song withot even knowing one another. Kathy Jeans track was laid down and Tit was sent to the Roomates to add background vocals in another locaton. The genius of the Record Produccers

  • just got married to my high school sweetheart and played this song we hadn't been out in 40 yrs or seen one another she got married and i did also we hooked back up on classmates and played this song at our wedding reception thanks cathy

  • Listen to the first line.. Please don't stop loving me, EEEEEEE!!! Cathy Jean is the greatest!

  • I love you Cathy Jean. Your voice hypnotizes me.

  • Much better than Kathy Young's version. Cathy Jean sings with so much heart and conviction, no wonder this song has had me mesmerized for over 45 years.

  • i'd give back my cell phone..big screen t.v...ipod....mp3 player and p.c. for just one more day in 1961....such a great time to be alive and young

  • @arizonaghost1 just keep dreaming buddy i do

  • @arizonaghost1 17 but right there with you

  • Bring back The Doo Wop Shop!

  • Dang. Cathy Jean had a great voice. Cant describe it accurately, but it moves me.

  • About 9 years ago, Cathy Jean appeared by herself on the now-defunct Doo-Wop Shop on NYC's CBS-FM as a guest.

She sang this live and sounded excellent, although completely different.

On the original, she had the same sincere sweetness as Rosie did on the equally immortal `Angel Baby'.

  • This the best version of this song and most feeling in the words. I will always remember the intro and ending it will stick my forever! Classic song!

  • I agree with you, filmbuff57. This is a great example of the wonderful New York Doo Wop sound.

  • still remember belting this song out alone in my bedroom while listening to the 45

  • Great song, brings back memories. Cathy Jean is a little shrill at the beginning of the song.

  • I'm taken back to my high school days---what a great time I had back then. I'd do it all over in a heart beat!!! Thanks for sharing this song! It's great

  • I know what you mean, I loved my high school days too. Glad you like the song.

  • Thanks !! Great Oldie !!

  • lOVE THIS SONG.

  • Heres another super song for all of us who had boyfriends & girlfriends in the fifties & early sixties, what great memories they bring back.Oh those good old days ! Pat

  • The singer, fourteen year old Cathy Jean Giordano, recorded the ballad "Please Love Me Forever."

"Please Love Me Forever" won Murray the K's Boss record of the Week on WINS in New York City in late 1960. On February 27th it entered the Billboard Hot 100 and by April it was at number twelve, reaching number two in New York. None of Cathy's follow-ups sold many copies.

  • Oh, as young as fourteen years old. Almost like Etta James was when she sang "Wallflower- Dance with me Henry" but there she was 15 years old.

  • ahhhh, one of my all time favorites. lights low, eyes closed, volume up, and dance with me jenniluv !!!!

  • I should tell you that I'm a guy whose name is Tom, :). My name is ILoveJenni because I love a girl named Jenni. Thanks for all your great comments though, keep them coming please!

  • OK,OK, my mistake. Pass the comment to Jenni

Again, Thanks and best wishes. No harm intended,

    Ken

  • The first version was by Tommy Edwards.

It was the flip side of "It's all in the game".

  • thanks so much. i have this 45. i've never heard it since it was a hit.

  • You're welcome!

  • This, though, is the definitive version in my opinion! Thanks for posting, and so glad you are back on!

  • It's so great to hear from you again, it's been a long time! I'm glad you are back making comments on my videos. :)

  • The first version of this song that I knew was by Bobby Vinton. It was a hit for him in 1967.

  • That's right, Bobby had a lot of hits by remaking previous hits.
