It looks to me that you're using a low pressure tank. I can tell by the blue ring around the reg, meaning its a Crossfire LP. If I'm wrong correct me though.
I don't think that's good for the internals or the performance of your gun.
What are you TALKING about? take your 2 cents back. ALL matrixes are LP. The PMR does run higher than most, but no where near the operating pressure of the Crossfire LP tank. The Tank runs at 450psi. The PMR runs around 225. And there is nothing in the gun that would receive any damage using low pressure air in the first place.
With matrixes, the only thing anyone has to be cautious of is reg creep from a crappy aftermarket reg. THAT will blow orings.
Thank you for actually correcting me. Finally someone has relayed knowledge to me. Again, that was 2 months ago, I was far less knowledgeable then. Keep up the good work!
Yes, if I can get my hands on one of the new 09 markers. I had the SLG UL, but it was sent off to one of the other Moderators from Matrixowner so he can do the complete tear-down and rebuilt tutorial.
doesnt matter, u were judgin the gun on extra parts you put in,
i got nothing against matrix's, im looking at getting one myself, im not judging you review or saying its wrong, but i disagree you judging a gun with extra shit you put in which would make it better,
we cant see how well it is with standard parts, thats why we are lloking for reviews
But when I talked of the upgrades, I also stated that stock is fine. And it was fine.
regardless, Most 'ballers that buy one are going to upgrade anyway. I pointed out the concerns that everyone had and tried to lay them to rest. the stock detents, barrel, and board are all perfectly fine for competition play.
Really... Did you miss the part about me talking about why certain upgrades were on the gun and whether or not they were necessary? Did you pay attention at all? No...apparently you didn't. At 51,018 views and 508 comments, I have had about 10 negatives concerning the "upgrades" I was using. And I am pretty sure that one of the following statements about you is true:
HE PRESSED THE DOMINATE BUTTON! haha, i have the 07 PMR - bought from a kid for 350 - little did he know about the upgrades he had in the gun - a friend of his gave it to him in a bet (a one on one i suppose) thing has virtue lazers, virtue board, UL frame, Dye UL barrel, Q-Loc feedneck, and the empire reloader with the virtue feed. Great vid =]
Ya i liked your review of this gun and it really helped out. I will take a look at the rail 09. Either way i want a dye gun. i was leaning towards the invert mini but that gun just looks completely weird and is way to small.
pm5 has a LPR but does not have modes other than semi so if your field allows and uses ramping then go with the pmr. the pmr is newer and does not have a LPR so you will not get the effieciency. if you can afford it go with the pmr special edition it is so much better. i have one and i never worry about ups. aluminum back cap. trigger guard. trigger with barries. aluminum asa. 2 piece 14" barrel
Well I got it for $180, the wires that go to the board from the battery harness came out so I had to get that fixed. So really I got if for $200. But I cant use it for awhile because I still need a tank and a loader for it. I just couldn't pass on the deal. :)
lol a 16inch!!!! be careful not to knock someone out off the break. i suggest 14 inch barrels because there really is no difference between 14 inch and 156 inch but CP BARRELS ARE AMZING
pmr i believe. i work at a paintball field, and ive shot many guns in my day, and i can say a pmr, stock-for-stock, blows the ion, or ion xe out of the water. and with regards to the eos, i would still say overall the pmr is a better investment.
ya i no im not talkin bout the guy who put the video on here ...the other kid told this kid that he sucks N THAT HES 13 N HES BETTER THEN HIM N HES BEEN PLAYIN FOR A WEEK LIKE HES TRYIN TO B BIG SHIT N HES NOT
ok i know this is kind of random but i have a pmr and do paintball guns tend to leak a little because it is low on air cause that happens with my pmr sometimes
Used to regulate the air pressure used to move the bolt. The PMR doesn't use one. Instead, it re-directs some of the air from the shot chamber directly behind the bolt to move it forward.
Very very good review video (this and techpb's are the best you'll probably find)...i haven't read all comments so sorry if i missed it but what about the screw-on end cap? i've heard it sucks and should be upgraded. beyond that are there any good upgrades you didn't mention in your vid? Thanks!
Barrel, board, back boltcap ( get the metal one. seems that too many people are stripping the plastic one.) That's about all you will ever really want to upgrade. Anything else is purely cosmetic.
with the ul frame can u put a different board in it cause i want to get a ul to get different grips and not have to mess with the buttons but i want the tadeo or w/e board cause it looks bad ass with all of the stuff in it???????????? some one help please
The UL frame for the PMR is specifically made for ONLY the PMR. I do not believe it has the available connector for anything other than ribbon cabled eyes
have an issue with my PMR. The gun shoots a ball perfectly once then when i shoot again it doesnt shoot. Also the bolt in the back is sticking out about an inch and its stuck i cant push it in or take it out. SOMEONE TELL ME WTH TO DO PLZ
do you still use this(the pmr)? if so have you added any ups(maybe ul frame) if so, how is your feel about the marker now over a year after posting this?
Keep the upgrades simple. Think of how you play and what would improve your game the most. Normally a new barrel is generally a first choice. If that is the route you go, I suggest a whole kit. second would be a new board- especially if you are playing tourneys.
After that, new detents and if you aren't happy with the grip frame, then that would be last on my list ( unless you are going for a frame/board combo.
Depending on if you are going to be a weekend warrior or a avid tourney player you need to think about how you are going to play and what your budget is. The PMR is a great gun out of the box and will generally cover all types of play, but if you are a really serious tourny player, and you have a decent budget, I would say you might want to look at the Proto M7. Otherwise the Rail is a wise choice.
And your basis for this conclusion? That's right, there isn't one.
Admit it, you're jealous. It's ok, I understand. Buying an Ion, realizing your mistake and selling it before your friends start making fun of you... Life for you must be tough. Buck-up though, Matrixes are affordable, even for someone like you.
Most barrels are the same. The main thing with how a barrel performs is a)the paint to barrel fit, and b)how the ball travels down the barrel.
Some barrels are stepped, and get larger in their 2nd Stage, allowing the ball to travel straighter because it's surrounded by air as it leaves the barrel.
Personally I would recommend a kit like the powerlyte scepter, allowing you to match your paint to barrel much better.
how exactly do I install a new trigger, it's the New Designz Slik Trigger, It's smaller then the stock one so does the trigger guard have to be taken off, I just ordered the gun online and haven't got that or the trigger in yet.
I cannot give you prices off the top of my head, but with the PMR now down around 250.00 I think that you should be able to upgrade the hell out of it and not past 450 total cost(no including tank or hopper)
okay with my pmr i lubed the bolt but then when ever i went to shoot if i start to walk it even at like 10 bps 2 out of every ten balls drop and i dont know why??
and also whenever i first start shoot the bolt doesnt start moving until i have fired about 20 to 30 shots and its pretty annyoing so what can i do please do healp.!!!!
Well I'm a beginner and really thinking of getting this badboy. Should I get it? Or should I just get a C02 gun just because it's a whole lot easier to get c02? SORRY FOR BUGGIN YA-IM A NOOBIE
you're not bugging me at all. If you are serious about getting into paintball, then you first need to think about what type of ball you want to play. Woods and scenario ball is not the same as competition. If you go the competition route, I would save up and buy some high-end equipment right off the bat. it will save you money in the long run from upgrading. That being said, the PMR is a great entry to mid level gun, and is even used in the pro div.
However, the $600-$1400 do have some differences that you should consider. Personally, I really liked the PMR, and it satisfied what I wanted/needed to play since it's so light and shoots well.
But compared to the DM8 ($1399) there are differences that a pro would definitely consider over the PMR. Choose how you want to play, and then make a choice on your equipment, planning for long term rather than right now.
THx for answering so QUIK! Im really thinkin about investing in this gun...another question ....1. Can this gun be used as c02 or just compresssed air? if compressed air only, i have a friend who has a huge compressor which is for cars really..hes a mechanic.....can i use that to fill up this gun?
The tanks tanks either 3000PSI or 4500PSI. A shop compressor generally will not generate over 125psi.
and yes, nitrogen fills and compressed air fills can both be used with a HPA ( high pressure air ) tank, but they are not the same thing. Nitrogen is more "consistant with its pressure and while there is a cool down period, it's not as drastic as regular compressed air.
I switched the detents. So what. The rubber ones perform fine as long as you change them on a regular basis- as I stated.
Tadao- at the time was a prototype board. I also stated that the original electronics are fine.
Scepter- again, the paint was rolling out of the barrel. I matched the paint to a barrel I had. If the paint was bigger, I would have used stock -which is basically a 1 piece UL.
Wow.. Well, they are rubber rings that are used to seal the air anywhere that the alternative is metal to metal contact. The bolt is Aluminum, and so is the body. The bolt cannot function or retain air without an oring sealing the space between the pieces of metal. It also cannot slide forward at the at the rates of speed that most current markers can shoot at. too much friction.
dude thats a sick gun saw review and just bought one =p i am going to get a 14" 2 piece and blade trigger just because i like to truck on my triggers =] but sweet review
i bought a fusion and a promaster they both have very good specs and bad specs. like everything on the pb market so do your research and purchase what suits you best. when my fusion came in the mail the hpr was broken and the asa was broken.. when i got my promaster it had a broken hpr and poppet. im not going to say don't buy these markers they are both awesome markers i guess i got some lemons lol oh well things like that happen so now i have a virtue/warrior/macdev/redz slg and its so easy :]
I have read this post several times now and I still don't know what you're talking about in relation to the PMR. If you were answering someone's post, it should have appeared directly under the post you were responding to.
Metal is fine. The only draw-backs to metal tanks is that they are heavier and I don't recall ever seeing one that was above 3000PSI.
A carbonfiber tank is actually an aluminum tank wrapped in carbon, and then covered with a high pressure epoxy resin. that makes them lighter and able to handle higher pressures.
Good review. Its significantly cheaper now. It would've been better to just do a review with no Scepter, Tadao, new detents etc to make it more balenced.

will a dm7 virtue eyes fit a ul'd pmr cuz my pmr eye adapter broke and i cant find a new one? and i got dm7 virtue eyes from a frend.
PLEASE AND THANK YOU

The PMR connects with a ribbon cable. The DM7 connects with wires and a connector. They would not be compatible.
Gr8Hawk 3 years ago
lpr or hpr wicj one for the pmr
largeinthepants 3 years ago
The PMR does not use a LPR. That is replaced by the boost forward technology.
What is a wicj?
Gr8Hawk 3 years ago
oh hahahaha my bad it was suppoese to be which
largeinthepants 3 years ago
The PMR has the Hyper2 inline HPR.
If you are asking what type of tank, high or low pressure, then I can tell you that either one works just fine.
Gr8Hawk 3 years ago
is the pmr still 400 bills?
paintballah69 3 years ago
Nope, You're looking at about $250 or so. For a little more, you can get the Special Edition version.
Gr8Hawk 3 years ago
do you still use this(the pmr)? if so have you added any ups(maybe ul frame) if so, how is your feel about the marker now over a year after posting this?
123efyousee 3 years ago
dont worry i just saw the feedneck bit.
cozzer45 3 years ago
wats the feedneck like caus ino the slg's one is crap
cozzer45 3 years ago
it's metal with a composite plastic ring.
Gr8Hawk 3 years ago
k thnks mate. would u rather a pmr 2 an slg?
cozzer45 3 years ago
Haven't had the opportunity to see/use an SLG yet, so I cannot say, but I would probably lean heavily towards the PMR first anyway.
Gr8Hawk 3 years ago
wait is hte paint ur useing diffrent from .68 cause i dont want to get it and have to change the barrel cause it doesnt fit eny paint
Paintball4Life94 3 years ago
All regular paintball paint is not exactly .680 caliber. It fluctuates from .679 to .694
The paint I was using was fairly small by comparison at .684, since most is .688.
The barrel on the rail is .690 which is huge compared to what I was shooting.

great review. i am considering getting a pmr but im not sure what upgrades i should go with first
jshores2 3 years ago
Keep the upgrades simple. Think of how you play and what would improve your game the most. Normally a new barrel is generally a first choice. If that is the route you go, I suggest a whole kit. second would be a new board- especially if you are playing tourneys.
After that, new detents and if you aren't happy with the grip frame, then that would be last on my list ( unless you are going for a frame/board combo.
Gr8Hawk 3 years ago
nice vid man im thinkin of getting me a pmr but im not sure yet
kj4412 3 years ago
Depending on if you are going to be a weekend warrior or a avid tourney player you need to think about how you are going to play and what your budget is. The PMR is a great gun out of the box and will generally cover all types of play, but if you are a really serious tourny player, and you have a decent budget, I would say you might want to look at the Proto M7. Otherwise the Rail is a wise choice.

u suck dont say that gun is pure sex PRM's sux
thenumba1boss 3 years ago
And your basis for this conclusion? That's right, there isn't one.
Admit it, you're jealous. It's ok, I understand. Buying an Ion, realizing your mistake and selling it before your friends start making fun of you... Life for you must be tough. Buck-up though, Matrixes are affordable, even for someone like you.
Gr8Hawk 3 years ago
I have a pmr and I was wondering if a j&j ceramic would make a big difference or any other barrel would.
cameron0113 3 years ago
Most barrels are the same. The main thing with how a barrel performs is a)the paint to barrel fit, and b)how the ball travels down the barrel.
Some barrels are stepped, and get larger in their 2nd Stage, allowing the ball to travel straighter because it's surrounded by air as it leaves the barrel.
Personally I would recommend a kit like the powerlyte scepter, allowing you to match your paint to barrel much better.

how exactly do I install a new trigger, it's the New Designz Slik Trigger, It's smaller then the stock one so does the trigger guard have to be taken off, I just ordered the gun online and haven't got that or the trigger in yet.
charvelguitars 3 years ago
with all the stuff you put on it how much is it because i can get what you have or an rsx with some other crap
THEREAPERS88 3 years ago
I cannot give you prices off the top of my head, but with the PMR now down around 250.00 I think that you should be able to upgrade the hell out of it and not past 450 total cost(no including tank or hopper)
Gr8Hawk 3 years ago
that sucks u payed 400 for it its only 250 now

phychodrifterdrummer 3 years ago
Wipe all the lube off the bolt and start over with just enough lube to look wet.
Next, reset everything back to stock and try again.

Gr8Hawk 3 years ago
k thx
bballkp27 3 years ago
Well I'm a beginner and really thinking of getting this badboy. Should I get it? Or should I just get a C02 gun just because it's a whole lot easier to get c02? SORRY FOR BUGGIN YA-IM A NOOBIE
86boyz 3 years ago
you're not bugging me at all.
Gr8Hawk 3 years ago
However, the $600-$1400 do have some differences that you should consider. Personally, I really liked the PMR, and it satisfied what I wanted/needed to play since it's so light and shoots well.
But compared to the DM8 ($1399) there are differences that a pro would definitely consider over the PMR. Choose how you want to play, and then make a choice on your equipment, planning for long term rather than right now.

Sorry im back..lol also,, is nitro tanks the same thing as compressed air tanks?
86boyz 3 years ago
THx for answering so QUIK! Im really thinkin about investing in this gun...another question ....1. Can this gun be used as c02 or just compresssed air? if compressed air only, i have a friend who has a huge compressor which is for cars really..hes a mechanic.....can i use that to fill up this gun?
86boyz 3 years ago
The tanks tanks either 3000PSI or 4500PSI. A shop compressor generally will not generate over 125psi.
and yes, nitrogen fills and compressed air fills can both be used with a HPA ( high pressure air ) tank, but they are not the same thing. Nitrogen is more "consistant with its pressure and while there is a cool down period, it's not as drastic as regular compressed air.
Gr8Hawk 3 years ago
AWESEOME VID...but did you say it wuz UN-accurate?
86boyz 3 years ago
ON-Accurate! LOL, I can see how you might have heard it the other way.
Gr8Hawk 3 years ago
Yeah for 400...Then
UL frame-25-100
You switched the detents -10
Tadao- 125
Scepter-80?
You changed so much stuff its not a review of a pmr.
A pmr is not efficient.
waxball88 3 years ago
Um, Yeah... Try paying more attention next time.
$250.00 for the marker.
It doesn't have a UL frame
I switched the detents. So what. The rubber ones perform fine as long as you change them on a regular basis- as I stated.
Tadao- at the time was a prototype board. I also stated that the original electronics are fine.
Scepter- again, the paint was rolling out of the barrel. I matched the paint to a barrel I had. If the paint was bigger, I would have used stock -which is basically a 1 piece UL.
Gr8Hawk 3 years ago
Wow.. Well, they are rubber rings that are used to seal the air anywhere that the alternative is metal to metal contact. The bolt is Aluminum, and so is the body. The bolt cannot function or retain air without an oring sealing the space between the pieces of metal. It also cannot slide forward at the at the rates of speed that most current markers can shoot at. too much friction.

dude thats a sick gun saw review and just bought one =p i am going to get a 14" 2 piece and blade trigger just because i like to truck on my triggers =] but sweet review
ledmagnet80 3 years ago
im amazed that it dirent LEAK in this review
azcunaga1 3 years ago
Huh? I've never had a matrix leak, unless the o-ring was old and worn out.
If all you've ever experienced is leaking PMR's, then either you or the owners don't know how to take care of them.
Gr8Hawk 3 years ago
i bought a fusion and a promaster they both have very good specs and bad specs. like everything on the pb market so do your research and purchase what suits you best. when my fusion came in the mail the hpr was broken and the asa was broken.. when i got my promaster it had a broken hpr and poppet. im not going to say don't buy these markers they are both awesome markers i guess i got some lemons lol oh well things like that happen so now i have a virtue/warrior/macdev/redz slg and its so easy :]
DIRTYCHEESE 3 years ago
I have read this post several times now and I still don't know what you're talking about in relation to the PMR. If you were answering someone's post, it should have appeared directly under the post you were responding to.
Gr8Hawk 3 years ago
ya sorry about that Gr8hawk i was replying to somebody over a stupid argument about which marker is better. disn't mean to bother you.
DIRTYCHEESE 3 years ago
is it ok to use a metal hpa tank or do i need an fiber tank i have a metal 1
thie765 3 years ago
Metal is fine. The only draw-backs to metal tanks is that they are heavier and I don't recall ever seeing one that was above 3000PSI.
A carbonfiber tank is actually an aluminum tank wrapped in carbon, and then covered with a high pressure epoxy resin. that makes them lighter and able to handle higher pressures.
Gr8Hawk 3 years ago
what kind of tank u have 48/3000? and wht hopper?
hominskate 3 years ago
I have a 70/4500 Crossfire LP tank and a Halo Hopper
Gr8Hawk 3 years ago
Is the 70/4500 any good? Because I was looking at one and looked really nice, compact, and light. Just wondering what you thought.
dpower12 3 years ago
Im thinking about buying this gun but I need to know if you should only use HPA for this gun
ufryitilleatit 3 years ago
Yes you should. It doesn't take co2
kookkamajunga 3 years ago
Good review. Its significantly cheaper now. It would've been better to just do a review with no Scepter, Tadao, new detents etc to make it more balenced.

haha, nice review. i have the specail edition pmr, and that thing rocks!!!! anyway, good review.
