"rain"-- Actually, this team is one of the absolute greatest in sports history. They had their share of bad breaks, but they should've beaten Boston in Game 6 in 1988. Oh, man, that loss hurt.

Their not winning a championship, though, was misleading. This team could do it all: run, score, defend, pass, rebound, etc.. Dominique also was un-guardable in this era.

This is an all-timer! What's so funny about it? The fact that it was much smaller then than it is now?  Atlanta's skyline didn't start to morph into what it is today until around 1989-1990. However, it had a pretty nice downtown. The angle on this shot isn't the most flattering, I'll admit.

If only they'd had a half-court game, they coulda taken the Celtics or Pistons down. They had everything else. 55 to 60 wins during the regular season, year after year, absolutely thrilling to watch ... then, ppfffftt in the playoffs when Salley and Rodman double-teamed Dominique. All part of the NBA's Golden Era for sure. I don't think I can name more than two or three players on any team now. Tragedy.

I grew up in ATL, now live in Illinois, but I'm still a true Hawks fan. Loved this tune, radio stations would play it before big games. This was when Atlanta actually cared about the Hawks, the only good team in town.
