  • Dear BoulderOSteens,

I live in the burn area of the Fourmile fire and I would like to use your footage in a documentary I am making about the impact of the fire on my community. Please email me and let me know if you would be willing to share your footage. I will give you credit in the doc.

  • Fuck every one here who is making a joke. One of my best friends lives in the mountens and no one has seen him for 3 days.

  • @torball13 You know, you should alert the authorities. They're currently saying that all the missing have been accounted for. They won't look for him/her unless they know he/she is missing. Good luck to you and your friend.

  • Did you allow KMGH to use this video on their 10pm news?

  • Did you allow KMGH to use this video on their 10pm news?

  • @chililine I did not. Thanks for asking. 9News bought it, but KMGH (7) did not. It might be a copyright violation, but news shows work under slightly different rules than other places. If they treated it as a news story -- say, a story on citizen journalism -- then they might be allowed to use it under "fair use" doctrine. I'd greatly appreciate it if you'd tell me more. I'm assuming you saw this on channel 7?

  • The dragons, they feed on ash.

  • I threw a cig out the window. My bad. Sorry everyone!

  • Damn nature you SCARY.

  • We had to trailer our new horse away from close to there

  • This looks like the bowels of hell.

  • it rained today at fairveiw did that put out the fire

  • @cbennett5664 no.

  • DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Went up to Flagstaff this evening, but you couldn't see anything :( ... I guess that's a good sign though that everything around there is all burnt out!

  • Incredible!!!

Is everything OK in your neighborhood?

  • Day-am I live like four miles from there

  • this is what mars must look like

  • @undertaer yes, except for the fire....and the trees. And the car lights...

  • This is where my dream lot is! I've been driving to it for years....used to live up Sunshine Canyon.....lets hope they save Gold Hill!

  • This is what the whole world is going to look like when aliens invade.

  • Oh no grand-ma forgot to turn off the stove again.

  • I'm really interested in getting some shots myself. I was wondering how you got there? I live in South Boulder, so I'm assuming you take Baseline to Flagstaff Rd... but then where is there a lookout point? I'm not sure if you know, but is the fire still even visible from Flagstaff? Thanks ahead of time!!

  • @Steffie2329 I'm guessing it's still visible. Yes, you go up Flagstaff on Baseline until you get to the right turn to the summit. Take that on up, then turn left at the point where you can turn right to go to Sunrise Theater. Go past the picnic shed. Follow nearly to the end and you'll see a sign for Artist's Point. Park and walk down the trail. You'll see the spot.

  • I've lived in boulder my whole life. Every summer, I see the side of the mountain on fire and I've been wondering why people continue to live up there. I wish the best for them.

  • Dumbasses really couldn't figure out those were cars? Haha.

  • my sis lives in Ned. I hope everyone stays safe.........stop, drop, roll.

  • 3000 people evacuated, 92 structures burned, 7100 acres burned, slurry bombers overhead, fire 0 contained as of Wed morning...woke up to the smell of smoke this morning...hoping all the extra fire help today can contain this monster!

  • I can see this from westminster. I hope they contain this soon!

  • what are the orange spiraling strips on the black mountainside? they definitely don't look like cars.

  • @helsvon They're car lights in the black foreground. They're moving up and down winding roads on the side of the mountain. Don't know if they're emergency vehicles or not.

  • @helsvon car lights

  • @helsvon They are cars I think the video was in fast motion.

  • Hauntingly Beautiful.

  • Great Job Andrew!

  • When did the devil move in?

  • oh, my beautiful Boulder. Take heart

  • @nahcllib

I thought along those same lines. Boulder is a wonderful and special place. This is a difficult site to see.

  • can you comment on what these ridges are? is the foreground the south side of sugar loaf?

  • Great job on this footage. Very busy night for all the firefighters in Boulder with no rest for the weary.

  • YIKES! Great video of the horrible event.

  • this is simply amazing!

  • This is incredible. We are wishing the 3,000+ evacuated people and business in Four Mile Canyon the best!

  • This is incredible We are wishing the 3,000+ evacuated people and business in Four Mile Canyon the best!

  • THANK YOU! Where exactly did you shoot this from? I'm trying to match it with a google earth view. See also the incredible "fire miles" picture from very nearby in DLevin's photostream on flickr (can't seem to post a link - damn)

  • @nealmcb This was shot from the NW side of Flagstaff Mountain, which is west of Boulder. If you follow Baseline west on a map, you should see the top of Flagstaff Mountain. There's a road going to the summit, which is a right turn off Baseline.

  • @BoulderOSteens So, e.g. from Artist Point? I'm puzzled because of the lights coming at us during the video, which I figured were cars. Are those flashlights?

  • @nealmcb Those are vehicles moving up and down the darkened ridge in front. Can't say what kind of vehicles.

  • @BoulderOSteens You can see the emergency lights on top so fire/police/forest/animal control

  • I wish everyone the best who have homes in the path of the fire. This is incredible stuff.

  • @TheAdventurous500 Thanks. I checked out your stuff. How do you get that incredible color saturation?

  • @BoulderOSteens Looks like he may have been using a UV filter. Just my guess. I've shot water sports using a polorized lens with the f/16. It had the same effect.

  • We who live in wildfire country or who love the mountains and canyons vulnerable to wildfires dread fire season every year, here in California. My heart goes out to those whose homes are endangered and to the animals, trees and shrubs that have no where to run.

Incredible video though. Fascinating to watch. Fire enchants in a primal way. Thanks for posting it.

  • Goodness, I hope they have this under control soon.

  • @ BoulderOSteens I vacationed in Colorado, the beautiful landscape and friendly people captured my heart..

You did an amazing job on this, thank you for sharing. All my best to all involved..

  • Amazing - I'm assuming this is from the top of Flagstaff but what is the approx time compression and start & end times.

Heart-wrenching, but thank you for posting this for us foothills expats.

  • @abelpharmboy I'm sorry about your home if, in fact, it has burned. There were some people on Flagstaff who were sitting there yesterday afternoon pointing out where the fires were and where their homes were burning. Gut-wrenching stuff.

This is roughly 30 minutes compressed. It was probably taken around 8:00 to 8:30.

    Hang in there.
