gotta love them noisy TPI injectors... my 91 Trans Am LB9 does the same thing. And I love the custom yet factory-looking touches on the engine, including the red and the fiero logo on the plenum. The factory 2.8 plenum was red too right?
@c332moto yeah i had 2 get mine rebuilt by one of my dads friends in chino valley cuz it was parked outside and sumbody came by at night stole the rims and dropped the car on the ground and a rock hit my armonic balancer and bent my crank
my brother and i were thinking about building something like this but using a buick gn turbo 6 and a 90 drgree transaxle like the 425 or something...maybe a turbo buick 350 with the same setup, but your sideways motor looks very nice.
@c332moto i got a 350 itching to go into something, did the small block bolt up to the fiero trans or do i have to get a new trans or adapter, and can i use the ould oil pan?
Wiring was easy. I used the stock harness and added two injectors. TPI and the 2.8 use the same speed density sensors. But to do that I needed to use a specific GM Australia PROM code. Tunning it is what took a lot of time.
well the trunk is decent size for almost anything you would put a sports car but i am wondering what engines would fit nicely without any trouble in a fiero also looking for an engine to fit in my 96blazer.
Nice job on the pollishing on the plentum! I did one from an 87 IROC last year and it didn't turn out near as good as that . Aside from that, Very clean job. And where is that tick coming from? Is that the pc valve making that noise?
Just in case they never came with a V8. But wouldn't that be cool then? There is a kit you can buy to install any GenI,II,III,VI Chevy engine in it. You can buy a turnkey car too. I installed this one myself ;-)
I've owned several and in the rain it is possible to spin out around a corner with the torque from only the Tech4. However, as long as you know that, the Fiero is the most fun car I've ever owned. I'm starting a clone of the Formula, but haven't decided on the engine yet. Looking for something interesting like this TPI V8. Congrats on your build !!!!!
All the stock ones that caem in the Fiero (or similar FWD cars) plus newer ones on new FWD casr with same Fiero pattern. I'm using the ^ speed one from a 2006 Pontiac G6.

@SS350silverado Actually it is 10 time harder to change them in my 2002 F-150. You do them from underneath.

The headers are Sanderson's CC10. Not custom.

did u get new lifters yet i can hear them need to adjust them
thesbcking 1 year ago
That's not any lifter noise. It is the injectors ticking.

@420witchdoctor What's a triple port injection engine? LMAO. I think you mean "TUNED PORT INJECTION".

@JobeMinacum That's what I meant. I was drunk when I wrote that. I had just got done working on my grandpa's Chrysler Tri-Power that day.

Thanks. The GN engine would be a beast. The strongest trany usually is a 4T65HD or somthing like that.

Always wondered how you rn the exhaust off the headers when the motor is in the rear and its sideways
97vortec350chevy 2 years ago
Well one side is easy... the other has a LONG run around the engine... you can pretty much forget about the trunk...
angurisloud 2 years ago
Well that is not true. I'm running two small mufflers. There are about 6-8" to the muffler then the pipe goes towards the back. The trunk is intact.

That is the best looking V8 I've seen in a Fiero! It looks like it's meant to be there as though it came like that from the factory. Great Job!

what the fuck? i didn't know they fiero made v8 engines like that. Thats cool how its in the 87.

Thanks. Custom made by a very good friend ;-)
c332moto 4 years ago
Impressive; Is that the 305 or 350? Do you find that it understeers more with Xtra weight out back?
judgegixxer 4 years ago
It's a 350. Weight difference is less than 50lbs. Main problem is oversteer with so much torque (366lbs rwTQ!)
c332moto 4 years ago
i just stumbled on these v8 fieros.....what kinda transaxle are you useing?
