  • Jealous.

  • Beautifull!!! Love it!!!!

  • Damn! And I thought she was just T and A...lol

  • Those strings are stretching like rubber bands. Never seen that before.

  • Nice!! Roy Buchanan also does a great version.

  • @mumus1973 I have an album from roy Buchanan called 'The greatest guitarist you never heard of."

  • Charo is great. And sooo hot I still prefer Roy Clarks version since he is so animated, and I knew Roy back when he was a part time bartender with Buck Owens at the Morningside Inn in Maryland, and I lived on a houseboat I rented from him.... Not to say that Charo is not great, but my fantasy is a trio with her and Tina Turner, and it has nothing to do with a guitar...Those taTa's and those lips. WOW. Maybe Malaguena playing in the background and I'm trying to keep the beat...

  • Wow! I never really paid attention to Charo until now. She gooood! Didn't know she studied under Andres Segovia. It shows!

  • No había visto estos vídeos de esta guapísima Murciana, así que he de seguir viendolos.....

    Genial !!!

  • I thought her only talent was shaking her chi-chi's. This was a pleasant surprise.

  • Ah! I miss playing the classical guitar so much. And Charo is beautiful. she's been around for a very long time, hasn't she?

  • @Exile0nMainStreet Yes, she's been around since 1857 BC and still going strong....as a matter of fact, she's pretty much eternal in many ways!

  • @mrfrogbutt1 lol! i like your channel. We have some similar tastes in music. :)

  • And when I was groing up she was all about the "COOCHI-COOCH!!!" She's got talent that girl!

  • the strings looks really really soft, right? it reminds me strings on the shoes haha :)

  • brava!

  • brava!

  • I have found a new respect for Charo.

  • If you like this you should look up Pepe Romero's Flamenco CD's. That guy is a great guitarist as well all around.

  • Boss....

  • I would like to see Charo play this song with my friend Thom Bresh.

  • this is a bad version of this song, charo does this song no justice, look up the Roy Clark version and tell me you think she did a better job than he did

  • @carkorot Roy Clark??? hes ok, but hes not a flamenco player. Charo studied 7 years under Andres Segovia! BEST IN THE WORLD! plus she has much better legs than Roy! LMFAO! +++

  • @hevy99 She studied under Segovia? No wonder! =]

  • @carkorot This song can be played any number of ways by any number of guitarists. It's good to stick with your strengths. Everyone is different, everyone has different taste, styles and likes. She did a great job playing it her way. Roy does a great job playing it his way.

  • So THAT'S why she's famous.

  • You'd think "CharoTV" could at least get audio that didn't sound like it was played through a series of tin cans

  • @DibbityDan well it was recorded from tv and maybe dubbed from an old tape..not so bad! but uploading the audio in mono doesnt do it any justice thats for sure! 2 into 1 audio jumper is simple to make! :)

  • My name is Charo, I shake my maracas

  • @90smusicthebest maracas r hard, hollow n rattle! she could put a rose between my teeth and suffocate me with hers! id die a very happy man! LOL

  • Holy hell. Never thought the best performance of Malaguena I've ever seen would be from Charo =O

  • Does anybody know which arrangement of Malaguena this is? I believe Ernesto Lecuona wrote the original score. There is an arrangement done by Paul Henry which is being sold through or published by Hal Leonard. I mean you can buy it many places but I am just curious as I want to get as close to this version by Charo....

Any help would be greatly appreciated :-)

    Mark from Canada

  • @flamencomarkku

    Hey Mark,

Just my opinion, but I believe Malaguena is one of those tunes that you should just practice until you can remember all the changes and main melody riffs/runs....until it becomes your own. I hope to post my version soon on my site - which no vids yet - and hope folks like yourself get something out of THAT version too....Peace.

And it's way easier with strings or any accompaniment behind you like she had!

  • @pacoblancosmith I do I agree with you. Making a song such as the Malaguena become your own so to speak really adds depth, soul, and passion. That is if you have depth, soul, and passion to begin with. I believe most of us do we just may have to search deep within and be persistant.... I will look for your version....

  • @flamencomarkku my advise would be listen listen listen....your not goin to get that from a tab! LOL she studied for seven years under the direct instruction of Andres Segovia! when i read that, i had so much more admiration for Charo. No wonder shes so good! Plus being beautiful! thats a tough act to follow! +++

  • @hevy99 You are absolutely right. I have been listening to the Malaguena daily now and I just got some Ernesto Lecuona sheet music. So between the both of them perhaps one day I will have it down.... I also have respect for Charo

  • @flamencomarkku i love her! switched from metal to acoustic. always liked Iommi, but been listening to more Carlos Santana, and classical/ flamenco. Batista, Segovia, La Chanson....BUT I LOVE CHARO! :)

  • GILF

  • She studied with Andres Segovia

  • She is a FINE musician. She is also beautiful and passionate about her music and the guitar. She is awesome. No debate there. But what you hear is not what she's playing. Go to 1:32 where she goes to the 12th fret on the first string. The recording goes to F (13th fret) and her fingers go to D (10th fret). I could find more but what's the point? Even to pull this off, she has to be very, very good.

  • I played this in jazz band :)

  • Look, classical guitar is not usually amplified but that has nothing to do with Charro's ability to play. The lady is great. Classical guitar doesn't lend itself well to the TV without amplification. Amps do not make you any less of a master. Otherwise, half of the great rock guitarists are disqualified.

  • She's about ugly.

But hell, can she play. I'd give my eye teeth to play guitar that way, that good.

  • definitely more than a coochie coochie girl..intelligent, beautiful, and talented..

  • Student of Andres Segovia and one-time wife of the late Javier Cougat.

  • Great tone. Where is the microphone?

She may have played the music we hear, and she may have been playing along with it, but I don't think she was playing it here. It's no big deal, she's on the Martha Stewart show, what do those people know or care about guitar?

Charo is a true musician by all accounts. I just don't think this video is representative.

  • @jerseystringer Perhaps you missed the cord?

  • @pdkeast @pdkeast I saw what could be a cable but the resolution isn't very good so I wasn't sure. But even so, the sound is so good, it seemed too good for a pickup or internal mic in that environment. The audio and video are misaligned too, typical for YT, and that makes it harder to tell.

  • @jerseystringer Definitely an accoustic electric guitar. You can see the cord trailing from the guitar, and the big metal jack plugged in. Hard to miss really.

  • @bigguy6100 It's a classical guitar with ampification... So?

  • @petruz1993 did you read the first post in this string? They were looking for the microphone, saying she may have been just playing along and the music was prerecorded.

  • @bigguy6100 Oh, i'm sorry, first time i saw the video these comments didn't appear...

  • @jerseystringer lol. so she was pantomiming an entire 3 minute performance because you can't fathom a classical guitar with onboard electronics?

  • @FenderSunset If you can listen to this and not think it's a studio recording, you probably still defend Milli Vanilli as well, and I can respect your right to do that.

Even more impressive sound from those unfathomable, onboard electronics can be heard (or seen) on her performance of Caliente (same show, different video) where harmony lines and a whole band come right out of that little old cable. Amazing!

  • @jerseystringer as far as the other vid goes, i never brought it up. acoustic players make use of backing tracks/loopers all the time. i did refer to your comment about not thinking she's playing here. but the fact that you questioned her actually playing the song or not is really strange to me in the first place. everyone knows she can play, so implying that someone who has been proven able to play is the equivalent of milli vanilli is pretty far out there.

  • @jerseystringer I never defended Manilli Vanilli but sorry, she's playing live here. I've seen her perform live and her live performances are just as amazing as studio version. Some artists can do that. Not many but there are a few out there.

  • Nothing less from a student of legendary guitar player, Andres Segovia.

  • She so talented, and man what a true beauty. She looks amazing!

  • Sin pasión, es imposible tocar la guitarra española.

  • She is amazing! Great video!

  • Still amazingly talented and beautiful!!

  • I will never try to play that again!

  • Why is there no sound?

  • Wow. That's all I can say and it say's it all.. WOW!!

  • It is sometimes excrutiatingly difficult to play this piece, and she plays it phenomenally. But I suppose if you've studied with Segovia for 7 years, his brilliance rubs off on you. It certainly did on her, and you can't be stupid and play like she does. So the bimbo act is just an act. She's brilliant.

  • shes playing with tits :D

  • She was never promoted for her talent which is a big shame! She is one of the best guitar players around.

  • Amazing!

  • Charo studied for seven years under the great Spanish maestro guitarist, Andres Segovia.

I don't know if she, or her manager, thought the only way to stardom was to act like a silly sexpot. If so, that is a shame, because she could have gone the "high-brow" route and been a classical guitarist, filling concert halls, IMO. What a talent.

  • @artsygala The "way to stardom" is largely about luck and happenstance. Often people walk through doors that happen to open. Seems she's done okay. She's had a successful showbiz career and she's more famous as a guitarist than a lot of really good players.

  • She plays with such a passion, just look at her face! Awesome!!

  • I feel cheated. Producers have exploited her physical side and deprived the audiences of her talent. It is good she still looks the same otherwiser I would have trouble believeing that was the same woman of years ago.

  • Wow! She's great!!

  • one of the best flamenco guitarists in the world

  • María del Rosario Pilar Martínez Molina Gutiérrez de los Perales Santa Ana Romanguera y de la Hinojosa Rasten

  • Wow! I had no idea she could play like that! Never judge a book they say....

  • Wow, I thought she was just some dumb bimbo who shakes her titties

  • Badass and still fuckin HOTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!

  • Holy crap, I'm never going to be able to learn that song if it's supposed to be that fast ToT

  • Yes, she is from Spain, and her character is flaky, at least, she delivered to us her skillful talent and beautiful music. We need more musicians like her, err, without the special effects :)

  • this little boy and that little girl want the same ting....coochie coochie...i love you charo.

  • Its a shame that she is known for shaking her ass and saying "coochie coochie" while playing a dim witted mexican, while she should be celebrated for her amazing musical talent.

  • @bluegsp She's not Mexican, she's from souther Spain, but I agree with everything else you commented. :))

  • @thekingofmoney2000 I am saying the "character" that she plays is a dim witted Mexican "stereotype".

She was funny, but she was more often the "butt" of jokes instead of celebrated for her amazing talent.

  • @thekingofmoney2000 He didn't say she was Mexican.

  • simply amazing.

  • LOVE CHARO FANTASTIC LAS VEGAS SHOW

  • LOVE CHARO

  • and she fingers herself with those amazing hands!

  • She can play!

  • the only reason i hate this video is because i cant play like that :)

  • There are very few on the earth who are better than Charoo. Such passion!

  • What good deed did Martha Stewart do to warrant that much talent on her stage? Martha does not deserve to breathe the same air as Charo. Martha is not worthy enough to be Charo's laundress. Someone needs to adjust Martha's attitude with a 2 x 4!! It's great to see that Charo was gracious enough to that tramp Martha. And Charo is infinitely more talented and Martha only hope to clean out Charo's toilet bowl. Great guitar talent, Charo!!!

  • @doobeedoo58 I'm not much of a Martha Stewart fan but DAMN! This is one of the most hardcore posts I've read in a while!! LOL!!! Years ago I heard Charo play guitar and I was totally shocked. Also somewhat dismayed that her musicanship was so overshadowed by the "bimbo" caricature.

  • wow

  • Wow.... she's bad ass! Long way from the Love Boat.

  • haha I love 2:51

  • People usually remember Charo as a comedienne and they remember "Coochie coochie" ..her real talent was this...one of the great classical guitar players of our times.

  • She plays a whole lot better than Esteban, and she didn't even study with Segovia. HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • SHe never showed this potential on the Hollywood Squares in the 1970's! Who knew??!!

  • The Hootchee Cotchee girl Charo. Lookin that good wild and she can play

  • I had no idea.

  • This is great! Charro'sa the best.

  • To sync that marvelous intracate fingering is a feat in itself. This performer is probably one of the best if not the actual best acoustic guitar player of all time. She is beautiful, can dance and sing, is a pretty good standup comic and not a bad actress (Loveboat) to boot. Bravo Charo AAA+++ Eddie in New York.

  • @Edtique Either your her press agent or you've never heard Jose Feliciano's version of Malaguena. Gotta be one or the other.

  • One thing that can not be taken away is the fact that the lady can play the hell out the guitar.

  • She can really play, but the decision by the TV producers to have her "air it" is ridiculous. Reminiscent of the day that Jefferson Airplane wanted to sing "Somebody to Love" on TV and the execs said they had to lip sync. She sung into an electric plug in protest! Hilarious!

  • seriosly?!!!!

Such a shame for the classical guitar world. And she is on TV?!

The world is full of trully talanted musicians! Why do you have to pick the one who plays with karaoky machine and looks like a prostitute?

  • Very nice. It made me feel all 'coochi-coochi'!!

  • AShe should of played it topless. It would have had a greater effect.

  • I don't know too much about Charo's history other than what I have seen on TV like Love Boat and the talk shows. But what I do know is what I feel when I hear her play, the lady is a magnificient performer, entertainer and a vertuoso on the acoustic guitar. This is true regardless of how old she is, where she was born, who she studied with or any of the hollywood voice over performance tricks she may use. Bravo Charo we love you! AAA+++. Eddie in New York.

  • Excellent musical performance!

  • What a remarkable talent and spirited woman.Awesome!!!

  • Amazing and beautiful artist.

  • Forget the outrageous accent and "cuchi-cuchi" antics. Her true talent is here with the guitar. I like her singing accompaniment too.

  • Wow, I would never guess in a million years, that Charo could play the guitar that good, I thought she was just an old bimbo. I have to say I am amazed, she proved me wrong.

  • Holy shit! Does Charo have a painting in her closet that's aging while she stays the same, year after year? She looks terrific, and played beautifully!

  • You think this is good? Search Madison Scouts 1988. Its first link. I DARE YOU NOT TO CRY.

    Viva Charo!

  • this was a mind fuck.

  • I just watched Liona Boyd play this in another video, and I have to say that Charro's version is ten times better, and it's better played too.

  • Ive studied flamenco 16 yrs,was taught by a guitarist considered most sought after/experienced professional in the UK. Now I have to say that your attitude of putting down Liona's version of Malaguena is just plain absurd...Charro's version is more appealing narrow flamencos, just as Lionas version more appealing to classical orientated guitarists..HOrses for courses man..this silly idea of putting down one style over another is just immature narrow minded nonsense..Lionas is at Least as good

  • @vincent4500 And I've played every style of music there is for 42-years. You don't have a clue kiddo. Boyd has no heart in her music at all. She simply can't compete with Charo on any level.

  • well clearly you are shit then, because you dont understand that there are horses for courses..its like me comparing Segovia to Hendrix and saying either is better than the other...you are a moron man. 42 yrs, don't you know its not the guitar in your life, its the 'life' in your guitar..some people have 'it' some dont, i was told by a professional flamenco i have the most heart of any flamenco guitarist in this region he's encountered..i know about heart but I have a brain too, use yours!

  • @vincent4500 Huh? I can't seem to hear you. My eyes can't read anything coming from the bottom half of the IQ spectrum.

  • @SonyV1U So you have trouble reading?

  • @SonyV1U ha ha...even your 'put down' is mediocre, how much that shows about your flamenco playing and 'knowledge' of music lol...However, I got to admit, you just dont give ....obviously got to recognise failure for you is NOT an option...nope, its a lifestyle...go back to your ignorant, narrow unoriginal lack of musicality!

  • @vincent4500 Spoken like a true village idiot. Don't forget the "ROFL" to go with your "LOL" next time. If you're going to write like a 12 year old, go all the way.

  • @SonyV1U you certainly know a thing or two about village idiots, considering that you clearly are the prototypical one...talking of twelve yr olds, clearly you fantasise about 12 yr old boys alot...and lucky for me Im a mature man. Show me something creative, something original, you ignorant, poorly educated and one-dimensional old asshole ha ha

  • @vincent4500 "alot...and lucky for me Im a mature man"

A mature man who thinks "alot" is a word....

Here, let me put it into idiot-speak for you: LOL, HA, HA, HA, ROTF!!!!!

  • @SonyV1U listen to the retarded 12 yr old boy rapist! And you didn't have to try and put it in 'idiot speak', as everything you say is totally moronically imbecilic. Oh by the way, clearly you're not a 'failure', no you're a time-released success, damn your time is running out though! You know nothing of music, you're no flamenco, but a child raping wrinkly old mentally senile jerk...Penile dementure ha ha, wanker!!;p

  • @SonyV1U oh & I'm waiting for your incredibly educated objectivistic analysis of Charo in comparison to Segovia or Hendrix...You:" Charo, [the transexual with Michael Jackson like plastic surgery] is actually better than Hendrix, or Segovia or Page, or Julian Bream, or Paco De Lucia" fuck man, stick to twelve yr old boys, leave old plastic surgery defects like trannie Charo alone...ha ha Clit-dick features.

  • @vincent4500 You're an idiot.

  • @bethany1954 wow, more originality!! not..you married to SonyV1U, the thing is i think charo is very talented but this idiot SOnyV1U saying such uncouth, 13 year old narrow minded statements comparing CHaro to a classical guitarist...the kind of thing a 13 yr old Yngwie Malmsteen boy with no experience or broad perspective on music would say..,I prefer flamenco as my style, but i dont think any style better than others...keep the classical for the classical...love ya ;P

  • @vincent4500 Wow you're an even bigger idiot than I realized.

  • still love ya, not bad for an ole bird', so to speak from your photos ;p x

  • Comment removed

  • May be a little rapid, and undoubtedly GREAT performance

of the Masterpiece written by Ernesto Lecuona.

Puede ser un poco rapido pero GRANDE interpretacion del la musica del Mastreo Ernesto Lecuona.

  • SPANISH CULTURE ACOUSIC AND MEXICAN MARIACHI IS THE BEST IN ACOUSTIC

  • Charo is an excellent guitarist. To me, Colombian singer/guitarist Shakira was heavily influenced by the Queen of Cuchi-Cuchi.

  • fucking. bad. ass.

  • Fantastic for a lady who is pushing 70-years-old! Viva Charo!!! <3!

  • @annacronism Dude, she's 55 in this video which aired in 2006. Even now she's just 60.

  • she actually has talent.... who knew?

  • esteban said her tiddys are fake.he use to lay her.

  • Charo is to me is the best acoustic guitar player performing today. She puts on one heck of a show in Vegas however every time I am there she is not so I really appreciate these internet clips. Her fingering is lightning fast and acurate even when she performs silent synchronized with background she is right on target. On top of all that she can sing and dance and her beauty is ageless. Eddie in New York.

  • The passion. The glory. Of Charo.

  • She's an amazing musician, and one hot tamale.

  • she looks she she has micheals nose

  • Wow...talented and sexy

  • @Mr28Vman She is talented, but far from being sexy.

  • The Dolly Parton of flamenco. Talented and bubbly.

  • I know hers might be technically more 'correct' since she's finger picking but for me, personally, Roy Clark owns this number. Just my opinion.

  • No she doesn't wear underwear

  • @bacsooner1 - Little boy, you're out of your depth here. Everyone else came here to hear a great guitarist and performer. Go let your hormones rule you somewhere else!

  • So Talented!

  • HOLY JESUS she can play!!!! Wow!!! That was awesome!

  • @Nightowl4272 - Yes, I remember seeing her back in the 70s and it was mesmerising.

  • Es Argentina, si, I "m Argentinien living in NY State, viva La Patia!!

  • Charo studied guitar at a school for poor children founded by Segovia

  • Charo's the absolute best so I cant believe she did this.. , but if U look at about 2:06-07 U'll see this was faked. the rest of this is in perfect sync, I find it hard to believe just that 1 wee bit was out of sync for any reason but... faked... 2bad she leads the pack

  • @rokitrob What do you mean it was faked? Explain.

  • @rokitrob NOPE

  • I SEE! them lessons i gave you have paid off!

  • It isn't easy playing the guitar that well and at the same time keeping your legs closed to hide your underwear.

I assume she was wearing under wear.

  • Through the Fire of Flames must be warm-up for her haha

  • Click on Youtube for Hose Feliciano playing Malaguena for truly inspiring version.

I almost cracked up when I saw the pumpkin out front on stage. lol.

  • Wife number V of Xavier Cugat.

  • Charo used to be on tv alot, years ago. I could only take her for 5 minutes, after that she was irritating to listen to, got on my nerves big time.

  • Is it just me or doesn't it seem she hasn't aged a bit in the past 25 to 30 years?

  • @0ucantstopme0 plastic surgery does that for ya

  • coooooooooool!

  • Charo can whale on a Spanish Classical nylon string guitar. She's wonderful and still sexy.

  • Some think Charo is just an "actor/dancer" who says Coochi Coochi alot. She was taught to play guitar many years ago Andre Segovia. For anyone who doesn't know that name, look it up. Arguably one of the greatest classical guitarists.

  • CHARO ! I LOVE TO IMPREGNATE YOU!

  • I am seriously impressed.
