nice this but one thing change the acc and dec to value 12 so it sets off slower and slows down slower thx it set off a lil too fast for my likeing tahh nice thow
Thanks for the positive comments. Yes, as you can probably see, the main running lines are more-or-less a "J" shape. The main reason for the design was to get as much track as possible into the space available without it being too OTT. If I was starting from scratch, the main gripe in hindsight is that the only long run is covered over!
If you take the total layout as a rectangle, it's 13'6" x 7'10" (4.1m x 2.4m). As you can probably see from the videos, however, the main running lines form more-or-less a "J", with sidings on the other side and a small branch going over the top.
Agreed! The smoother the curve the more realistic it's going to look. Flexible track is the ultimate end point if you have the room. Don't make it too good, though - I don't want you showing me up!
Thanks! I cut a piece of sponge to size to fill up most of the dead space and then put Javis extra fine ballast on top. Bit of 50:50 PVA to hold it all together - job done!
Thanks for the positive feedback. Yes, I fitted the decoder myself. You simply push the decoder's 8 pin plug into the DCC socket which is already in the loco. However, as I used the larger 40 x 20mm speaker (the decoder comes with a smaller, round speaker), I had to remove the working fan assembly - a bit fiddly, but fairly straightforward. This does, though, give a good outlet for the sound through the fan grille.
Background noise is real, I'm afraid. We live on a main road!
Very good, nice sound. Did you covert the loco yourself if so how dificult was it? The traffic noise in the back ground is that real or a recording. Whatever it is it certainly does the video proud. Good stuff.

what radius curves were they, look more realistic than sometimes.... maybe just me brilliant layout though :)
mattiev8795 3 years ago
Thanks. Just plain Peco Setrack first and second radius I'm afraid. I looked at going second and third, but didn't have the space.

ok thanks, i think im gonna get 2nd and 3rd but maybe hornby 3rd and 4th :) wil that look even better than yours?

How did you create your ballast, is it scatter? Thanks. It looks great.

That is Hellfire! The recordings of the 31 by SWD are far superior to my Howes sound
