The trainers def freak me out, but I like that the show details the training regimen and the injuries and stuff we just don't see in the American version. It's, like, two hours of people grunting and sweating and then the scale, nothing in between. It creates unrealistic expectations for folks on a treadmill an hour a day.
Oh, Maria, don't you know that a parent's job is to prepare their children for adulthood? Your kids should be making the sandwiches and cleaning up after themselves. Your job is to train them to do for themselves, not to constantly act like their servant. Otherwise, they will grow up thinking that it's somebody else's job to do all the work, and conflict will inevitably result when other people DON'T want to be their servant.
Richard is clearly different from Mark (Season 2). This should be an interesting season. I think Richard stands a better chance of having more of his team in the final than Mark did. I don't think they'll be spending a lot of time talking about rainbows and butterflies with Richard.
I got that impression as well. Bob & Jillian, and even the AUS trainers (Shannan, Michele, Commando, Emazon) don't show contempt towards them. They push them; but there are medics standing by and if they contestant ar pushing themselves against trainers orders or vice versa the medic steps in. I would think it's the same thing on the UK version...but because you don't know, it makes it seem like they are being pushed when they are injured.
I just dont think the host and trainers are cold , the're just measuring the contestants , I really believe further in the competion they will show they sensetiv sides...
Other than the host and the trainers coming off as a little cold, I'm really liking the contestants - I can't decide yet who to cheer for - there are so many couples I like. Of course whichever team gets voted off early on, I certainly hope that they continue getting healthier.
Yeah, I think the trainers could be a bit nicer. The part where Jamie injures his shoulder and one of the trainers is like "Professionals experience them and they push through it!" Uhh yeah... those guys are PROFESSIONALS, jackass, who have trained their bodies for YEARS. You're not supposed to push your body that hard the first time you exercise, especially when you are that out of shape!
Gee - I actually like the music! BL Australia uses the same music over and over that I sing along and know what music to expect when. At least BL UK brings some different music into the mix! :-)
Do you guys think that the trainers even LIKE their contestants? It's almost as if I detect contempt on their part!
I hope this show REALLY focuses on how big a problem these's people's diets are, and how to correct that end, as well as just showing the "obvious" stuff--the exercise.
Trainers have to find the right angle for each person... Some people work better with positive reinforcement, or negative...
IE
a) COME ON! YOUR DOING REALLY WELL! KEEP IT UP! PUSH HARDER!
or
b) COME ON, YOU CAN DO BETTER THAN THAT! PUSH HARDER!

They should be punished, they never exercise for like 100 years (sarcasm)
this is what they need to do, be punished and exercise more than 5 hours a day.. Break time is over

@oliverat His point was, some injuries can and cant be pushed through. They have enough experience to know which are which.

I couldn't believe it when I heard music from The Piano playing in the background... and now, some Spice Girls and Mika! Quite a selection.

yes I spotted that, kool... someone's banging on about the music, the music in these shows is always a bit irritating - at least this is very varied.

2.14 onwards....and here's the next Generation of Biggest Losers in training!
(I agree with WC69 - there needs to be a big focus on diet. What people think is "normal" is so often harmful.)
