I saw that segment on Idol Extra whre the remaining four contestants choose their favorite performance by "another Idol" and two of the four (David A. & Syesha) chose Carly. I would guess that if they didn't want to spread it around they all would have. I never had any problem feeling connected with her or, honestly, anyone who can deliver vocals of this quality. I'm just stunned that somebody this good is reduced to participating on a cheese ball reality show to get her name out.

Don't ask me the Idol producers want Jason for some reason. I guess they will thrash out a quick album and try to take advantage of his popularity. This whole season, Jason & Brooke, has me a bit perplexed. I find it hard to believe that they will payola that noise on radio to any extent so I figure it has to be the old Idol hit and run album.
Carly in this studio version is no amateur singer. She sounds like she has been cutting top-selling records for 10 years. She should make a Christmas CD.
The purpose of the show is to draw 20+ million households to 20 minutes of Coke, Ford and iPod advertisements interspersed per hour every week for twenty something weeks a year. The Idol advertisers pay hundreds of millions of dollars a year for the privilege.
Don't worry about "voting", the show is rigged. The producers know who they want and promote them using the judges comments (all scripted per Paula's comment on a performance before it happened), performance position and they can throw votes away as they see fit under the rules of the disclaimer.
I agree with you that Carly wasn't my favorite, and I also agree that THIS was truly an amazingly gorgeous performance. It's been one of my favorite performance this year.

Carly definitely dials back on the big notes on the studio versions so if you want a lyrically complete version that is toned down vocally then the studios are a great choice. When Carly steps on that Idol stage she wants to push out those big notes in the Idol tradition. It separates you from the others, most singers cannot hit & hold those notes. I think that adds a measure of passion to the performance, which I like, but the studio versions are great too. It is just a matter of preference.
She has a truely beautiful voice and could sell a lot of music if strongly promoted. Carly, please...no more tatoo's...you are too pretty to alter the perfection that God gave you!

This whole season, Jason & Brooke, has me a bit perplexed. I find it hard to believe that they will payola that noise on radio to any extent so I figure it has to be the old Idol hit and run album.

Carly in this studio version is no amateur singer. She sounds like she has been cutting top-selling records for 10 years. She should make a Christmas CD.

The purpose of the show is to draw 20+ million households to 20 minutes of Coke, Ford and iPod advertisements interspersed per hour every week for twenty something weeks a year. The Idol advertisers pay hundreds of millions of dollars a year for the privilege.

Don't worry about "voting", the show is rigged. The producers know who they want and promote them using the judges comments (all scripted per Paula's comment on a performance before it happened), performance position and they can throw votes away as they see fit under the rules of the disclaimer.

I agree with you that Carly wasn't my favorite, and I also agree that THIS was truly an amazingly gorgeous performance. It's been one of my favorite performance this year.

I have listened to this over and over and I LOVE it. Carly's voice is so smooth, smokey and rich but yet very powerful...she seems really nice too!

such a disappointment that she was voted off AI. what were the american voters thinking?? i will be sure to buy her albums! I really hope that David A. does not win this season. The show this year has seemed to turn to a popularity contest instead of a talent. Best of luck to David Cook! He now has all my votes.

Love this song. Carly's version sounds amazing. Her lower notes sound deep and rich....I don't know what Randy was talking about when he criticized her low range. She and Syesha and David Cook are really much better than David A. I hope he doesn't win...he doesn't deserve to....too limited in his style.

You're brave. I don't think I can watch anymore without her. I wish all the other contestants well, but Carly was my show. It's slowly sinking in that she's not gonna be there on Tuesday. How depressing! Since Carly and Cookie were so close, I have a special place in my heart for him, but she really didn't deserve to go so soon.

yeah...and his voice sure as hell is not pure. But when carly gets a record u can bet ur ass that i will be the firsyt in line buying it. David will have a career ahead of him. But it won't last. Cause teen girls will soon relize when u buy a record u cannot see the singer. Then his career will fail as everyone realizes they only liked him for his looks

Carly definitely dials back on the big notes on the studio versions so if you want a lyrically complete version that is toned down vocally then the studios are a great choice. When Carly steps on that Idol stage she wants to push out those big notes in the Idol tradition. It separates you from the others, most singers cannot hit & hold those notes. I think that adds a measure of passion to the performance, which I like, but the studio versions are great too. It is just a matter of preference.
