to hara unos maravillosos juegos y superaran a Gudalajara 2011 de eso no hay duda!

  • too bad, the taxpayers have to pay for this, while there are homeless people, growing numbers of unemployment, and rising prices...

  • @GeGeMus12 its a good thing to host a major event like this, as a taxpayer im GLAD to support these kinds of things!

  • what song is this?

  • Ameer Barbara @3:14

    YAY

  • Pan Am Games

  • wow this is such a beautiful video

  • Rio de Janeiro raised the bar of the Pan Am Games so high they won the Olympics.

Let's see what Toronto can do.

    Best luck.

  • I agree with your comment friend, the beautiful Rio de Janeiro is very well represent our Americas ..

  • Hey, what's the minimum age to participate? I wana participate for the Running Long Jump event but I'm 13...

  • im gonna be in it, gonna win a gold for canada

  • @al251992 kool, wat sport? and wats ur name?

  • bogota is a shit - very violence and cruel with the animals

  • GREAT!!! NOW ALL WE NEED IS THE 2020 OLYMPICS!!!!

  • After Winnipeg's successes in the Pan American Games for 1967 and 1999, as well as the Olympic triumphs of Montreal (Summer 1976), Calgary (Winter 1988), and Vancouver (Winter 2010)... IT'S TORONTO'S TIME TO SHINE!

Canadians, remember Nikki Yanofsky's song for Vancouver, "I BELIEVE".

  • yep good for the city, bad for the taxpayers unfortunately the city is in massive debt and corruption......

  • @GeGeMus12 shad up you conspiacy theroist :)

  • bring on the taxes : D

  • @xXdenee lol i wouldn't be surprised if they spent more on the pan-am games than the vancouver olympics (a world-wide event)....lol no one cares about the pan-am games anyways

  • @GeGeMus True that no one cares about pan am, BUT, toronto has been failing for years in bids. so pan am is a warm up for the summer olympics the next time they bid.(example, Rio, they hosted the pan ams in 07' now they're goin to host the S.O. after london

  • @vdven well thats like saying Montreal hosting the summer olympics and not Toronto, and even the Calgary Winter Olympics. There are factors to take into consideration when it comes to hosting such large events. Maybe Toronto didnt fit the criteria at the time. But now Toronto is more developed, it is peaceful, and diverse. Toronto will have a high chance of hosting the summer olympics soon, and to me, im not looking forward to it.

  • @vdven thats because toronto didnt bid for the games in 1999, it did for 2015 and won. so what if winnipeg hosted the games twice? it doesnt say anything bad about the way canadians view the games. i know winnipeg isnt one of the top contenders for many international events but its good enough for the pan am games which is why it hosted it twice

  • @xXdenee Toronto has only failed twice at bids and both were for the Olympics but it lost by a close margin in both 1996 and 2008 bids which shows Toronto was only missing a few elements that were preventing it from winning. the pan am games will fulfill those elements and Toronto will win the 2020 games. Toronto is using the pan am games as a way to make huge infrastructure improvements in the city. the city is treating the games bigger than any other host city ever has.

  • lol im in this

  • my sister is in this... just saying :)

  • this commercial is really nice. cant wait to see it cause im in toronto but i need the money though

  • AMAZINGLY WELL-DONE VIDEO. CONGRATULATIONS TORONTO from a guy born in Bogota, living in Canada. Felicitaciones amigos canadienses.

  • wow dwayne your supposed to be the lil jamaican boy when grows up ...im gonna post this to your facebook

  • who produced this??

  • Nice video, mmm good luck with the Pan-Am Toronto ;) America es un continente diverso completo e Increible.

  • An ugly fat pig?? Have you have any idea what you're saying? It's more like were settling for "Aye caliente!" Don't you care about housands of athletes (mainly young female latinos) are coming to our city competing for a spot at the Olympics? The Pan Ams are a stepping stone to the Olympics. Rio de Janiero host the Pan Am Games in 2007, and now they're hosting Olympics in 2016. Coincidence? I think not.

  • Yes half the city could participate (that is yourself of course and other pathetic naysayers who said it couldn't be done). And for crying out loud, spell the acronym SARS properly! It doesn't come in 2 Rs (unless the extra R stand for reject which is what you are).

ps- The only sport (or should I say habit) you're good at is biting your own words.

  • The only thing Montreal has going for it is French Terrorist. Calgary, no complaints there but all white cowboys, and Vancouver has its head so far up its ass.

Latinos can probably kick your white ass in a second.

  • good to see a positive attitude in these comments...

  • I can't wait for Toronto 2015

  • Congratulations Toronto!

    Winter Olympics next year!

now I'll hope WorldCup 2014 in Brazil and The Olympics Games 2016

    ...

And now the Toronto 2015 Pan-Am!

    Nice!

  • the winter olympics arn't in toronto. could never be, not when there are provinces with mountains that are perfect for winter sports.

  • We've got too many Winter Olympics in Canada. I think we should pass this on to countries like Peru, Colombia, or New Zealand. They've got mountains!

  • @simonizer888 yeah but no snow hahaa, correct me if im wrong

  • We do have snow. We just don't have mountains.

  • This is a waste of good money...people say that the infrastructure will get much needed improvements...the city will gain from this...the only infrastructure that will be improved is ones around the events...this city and Ontario is in debt...they are cutting programs ever month...cutting school programs we can't even keep school pools open and they say the cost is just 2.4 billion guess again when this is all done Ontario will have paid more then 5billion or more just to have 240000 come to it

  • Hello, I supported the bid since last year and I am happy that Toronto got the Pan American Games in 2015.

    Congratulations from Brazil!

  • this damn thing nearly had me in tears

  • Me too. I'm proud to be within the Americas.

  • Wow!! Absolutely brilliant video!

    Congrats Toronto!

  • Awesome stuff TDOT. Congrat's Mayor Miller!

  • I must admit, I was unimpressed when Toronto landed these games. After all, aren't they second rate, fit only for cities like Winnipeg (twice)? But this video reminded me that it's good to want to do a lesser thing perfectly. If Toronto the great is out of reach in a period of economic decline and geopolitical upheaval, perhaps it's time to reinvent Toronto the good.

  • The games were second rate that is until Rio De Janiero hosted in 2007. Everything has changed since then. It's now becoming a spectacle. The lighting of the cauldron was unbelievable. 2 years later, they won the Olympics. Coincidence? I think not. Pan Am games are just a stepping stone to the Olympics. Now if the next Toronto bids for the Olympics or any world class event we don't have to spend so much on facilities. Call it Toronto the Almighty! =o)

  • Yes, the Pan American Games were definitely a second rate event.

But Rio de Janeiro completely changed them by giving the Pan Ams an olympic level such as what happens with the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.

These event had a huge impact on Rio's bid to host the 2016 Olympics.

That's why Toronto wanted the games. Because now they have a bigger impact and it is a way of a possible Toronto bid for the Olympics. They did it in 2000, 2004 and 2008 and they didn't get it.

  • Your good wishes are appreciated, alfaceandrice, and I'm glad Rio won the 2016 Olympics. But Toronto won't win a summer Olympic bid for another twenty years at least. In the eyes of the IOC, Canada has had its share (Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver). It'll be Cape Town in 2020, Delhi in 2024, and then a Gulf State. Like Chicago, Detroit and Buenos Aires, Toronto's destiny is to be snubbed by the IOC every time. The city should enjoy the 2015 Pan Am games, without viewing it as a stepping stone.

  • Now why would Delhi take 2024? They can't even finish their own facilities on time for the 2010 Commonwealth Games and you're expecting them to win the Summer Olympics by then?? Their stadium and athletes village isn't completely finished, and they're less than 300 days away from hosting. A member from Barbados was there a few weeks ago to check on their progress. Chaos! Just because bids are about continental rotation does not necessarily mean they can host the games on time. Delhi proves it.

  • You may be right, simonizer888, but these dire predictions happen regularly. How many times have we heard that, with only a year left, the facilities in a host city weren't ready? This was said of both Athens and Beijing. If Delhi's Commonwealth Games are a disaster, I'll agree with your point, but let's not suggest that a developing country can't do it. These days, know-how and capital are global. That's why we're seeing this continental rotation, which some might say is long overdue.

  • Developing countries can do it. At least 2nd and maybe 3rd world. I mean look at the 2007 Pan Ams in Rio or the 98 Commonwealths in Kuala Lumpur. Not necessarily first world countries but successful nonetheless. Timing wasn't merely the problem for the Beijing Olympics but more like human rights protests and air pollution that tainted the games. Not to mention they faked the opening ceremonies by adding special effects on television.

  • You're right at some point.

I believe that Toronto would have a great chance to get the games in 2028.

If they get the 2022 Commonwealth Games, they will surely get the 2028. In 2020 the IOC will bring the games back to Europe - 99% sure.

They need some euros. Europe is a strategic market and sports superpower.

I agree with simonizer888, I don't think Delhi would get an Olympics, they are in chaos there. But I trust South Africa for a 2024 Olympics.

  • It's all about timing. Bidding is like a game of Texas Hold'Em Poker. George Clooney once said in Ocean's Eleven, "The house always wins. You play long enough, you never change the stakes, the house takes you. Unless, when that perfect hand comes along, you bet big. And then you take the house." Toronto needs that perfect hand. The US is throwing junk hands in New York and Chicago. South Africa has a big hand with the World Cup. And their luck might change in Paris 2020. We need aces.

  • @soothingvoices

Rio hosted them in 2007 and look at them in the 2016 Olympics

  • great video, it probably won them the bid.

  • And it did. It certainly did. =o)

  • great day for Toronto . people who oppose games bids have to get over it . At some point a city has to present themselves to more then a regional population .
