  • May God bless Cassandra Elliot and all of the peacemakers of her day... we were so hopeful back then. Now we have a Republican Party hell-bent on going to war, no matter what the trivial reason... what a shame

  • Pessoal, perdi o email dessa conta agora tenho uma nova promovam meus vídeos

  • она лучшая!!!

  • To me the best strongest female voice there was. You just couldn,t listen to a M&P single without noting her distictive voice. Sadly gone long before her time. Thank God we can still hear her fabulous songs!

  • ¡ Una voz maravillosa !.........

  • Can you imagine her children. I'm sure they would have gotten her voice. It would have been great for the next generation.

  • @taggett666 Her daughter, Owen ( to the best of my knowledge her only child) not only resembles Cass to a large extent, she did indeed inherit her talent as well. You may want to google Owen Elliot- Kugell to see for yourself. I think if you're a Cass fan, you'll be very happily surprised. :-)

  • I really love and respect MAMA.

She was the best singer in the world.

    The best of best.

  • WOW! She could really swing that blubber...her singing and dancing were on par with her fashion sense.

Cass was a mediocre talent with a narrow vocal range.

  • @MotherFunkAndWagnall You just don't understand real talent....You are obviously an idiot..go back to your sexual fantasy....Justin Bieber......

  • @floresebu

    Well, there's no doubt about it...you're a fat-ass, too.

If you weren't, you wouldn't be such a maniacal tool regarding Cass' morbid obesity.

Get a grip, you pathetic dumbass...not unlike Whitney Houston, her addiction (food, in this particular instance) and self-abuse, thereof, killed her.

  • @MotherFunkAndWagnall Unfortunately a lot of great performers have died too young because of addictions. But we can still get on You Tube and listen to their voices, can't we.

  • One can really appreciate the music from the past, I lookk at this and I only wish we had stars like this again the gave the music industry some pazazz. Cass Elliot gavr alot to the industry and the insturmentation along with her voice was great. We just don't hear things like this anymore.

  • I wonder how many 60's bedsheets it took to make her outfit?

It's too bad she had an "eating disorder" that's typically mistaken for a ravenous appetite.

  • What a beautiful voice - and message. RIP Cass.

  • I hope for a new and better world too...

  • Beautiful message & hope for a new world

  • @tlw1950 @stella491000 Today all you need are celebrity parents and you might become a pop star. See willow smith w/ whip my hair.....lol!

  • @tlw1950 @stella491000 is it harder to be a pop star today? Back then you can either sing or you cannot. Therefore you could only be a pop star only if you could really sing. Nowadays, you need not sing very well but as long as you can entertain the masses(be it by kookie outfits, catchy lyrics, outrageous acts, model looks, celebrity parents, etc), you can be marketed as a "pop star".

  • I still think it's harder for a person to become a pop star today...it's all about looks....talent doesn't much matter.....fat people can succeed as comedians or Oprah-types, but as pop stars, forget about it. Adele is one of the few exceptions to the rule.

  • @tlw1950 @stella491000 Back then it was all about the go go boots and minnie skirts . It is true that almost nobody was overweight back then so Cass would have been the face of gluttony with the more religious population at that time. Also she was a single parent, and she was championing political activism..... all rather taboo back then for a woman. So why was she so popular? Her personality and her distinct alto voice: sweet, warm, very feminine and powerful. So yeah she was a special case.

  • Maravilhosa voz, Adorei

  • In the 60's , it was VERY unusual for anyone to be this heavy....now there is an obesity epidemic ! I'd suggest that Mama Cass "made it " against the odds then, and that she might have had a greater chance of being accepted now, because people are more accepting of differences.

Cass made it in the 60's because her wonderful voice transcended her appearance - her voice sent shivers down my spine in the 60's and it still does. RIP Cass.

  • When Cass sang, people forgot she's heavy.. her voice was so amazing that u over look everything else..

  • I remember singing this to myself as a little girl, in my bed...as I was going to sleep.

  • A new world coming?? Coming in peace?? Coming in joy?? Coming in love??

it's now 2012. This song is from 1970. So, What happened?? :o(

  • @CounterCultureLives GOD I MISS 1970!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @floresebu - GOSH me TOO!!!

  • This could be the NWO theme song, just take down the peace sign though.

  • Oh Man...i love her voice..there is something about her vocal in this song that is so moving...i love the way she moved also...a free spirit...flowing naturally to the music...her weight was not an issue at this point because she had already been accepted by the listening public...her personality and talent were finally able to push "The Weight" issue aside...[or perceived weight issue]...I think the Glamor phase is losing it's appeal...Real people with real talent...that's where it's at.

  • TLW....not true. Susan Boyle was an under-dog and look how that turned out.

Someone like Cass would definitely make it today.

  • @mygirlruth So true. Look at Aretha Franklin. She's always been on the heavy side and has such a fantastic voice that she still sells music.

  • we miss you momma

  • rest in peace moma cass you were one of a kind.

  • One of my top 5 favorite female vocalists of all time. Was 12 years old in 1970. Truly amazing artist, heartfelt voice with incredible clarity and control; and seemingly effortless singing. I'm more than fortunate to have grown up when I did.

  • What talent, what heart!! She's a force of nature. Heh, Cass, is that world coming yet? We're waiting for the peace, joy and love!!!

  • Her simplicity and nuance, like all the lyrics and rhythms of those songs during that time. It was my time. The beat - upbeat - pop - but with a simple, singable message. Songs were RARELY longer than 3 minutes in order to get radio play. PRE-MTV. MacArthur Park, the hit by actor/singer Richard Harris changed history as it was a long song.

  • This was clearly before Star Search, etc....she really isn't all that great...but definitely not knocking the messenger or the message...I wonder how she got to be so big...you know...what I mean...not that way..oh ..forget it.

  • A beautiful woman!

  • rip cassie, another great talent who left us to soon !!

  • i don't think people care so much about weight....if you can sing.....you can sing!!!!!

  • That's because today's music industry has perverted the very concept of talent. They prop them up and use every conceivable techno-gadget to enhance their voices and they pass this off to the public who have very low standards to begin with.

  • A great voice & that's all that matters. She could sing circles around any current singer out there.

  • its true, a new evolving world is still happening. weve improved a lot since 1970-peace

  • I Loved Her!!!

  • Mama Cass was a wonderful entertainer with a marvelous voice. Weight, and appearance be damned! Another talent gone too young.

  • theres a new day coming and its pretty fucked up, these new world order hippy commies did our country in. and now responsable people have to take it back and try and fix it.

  • @dorodini No, the hippies didn't do this. Also, please learn to spell before making half-witted comments. Spell check is free, commie.

  • Does she look like she is troubled by her weight? Does she dress in a way to hide her weight? Does she seem to CARE about her weight? Does anything stop her from total soul?? Does the way she dresses show that she tries to hide her weight? Come on, people. I love to watch her videos and all her flashsy colors and all her outradious shots - yeh - I'm real concerned about my weight.....

  • @dumonceauxable You are right---Cass is not troubled about her weight. She accepted herself the way she was and had fun. "this is who i am" Wish Karen Carpenter had had that attitude!!!! Best wishes on your own weight program--be kind to yourself above all!!

  • Cass Elliott is in a class by Herself. No matter her weight, she was unstoppable - her personality was upbeat, full of fun and self confidence. Her voice and style would have made her a success no matter what her weight. The Mamas & The Papas would be unheard of and dead without her. Besides, their have been many famous entertainers who have been obese and loved by all who knew them (ever hear of IZ?) I think these comments about her weight are shallow.

  • (Sad but true): If she had weighted 120lbs she would have been 'Bigger' than Elvis! What a voice! The woman could make any song sound special!

  • Mama Cass would be 70 now if she were here in 2011

  • Ahh the famous peace symbol. I told my young friends who love to adorn it on their clothes that it came from the 60's. I was right.

  • But she did Make it Fat or Not and thats all that matters she had a strong very distinctive voice which I never will forget!..and those days were a lot happier and better Music by far!

  • I just read how she died, so sad, Wikipedia states she is the butt of all jokes... Wtf? lol

  • @SenAkeno I see no such passage in her Wikipedia entry. There is reference to the false urban legend of her choking on a sandwich, though.

The version my jackass dad used to tell went that Mama Cass and Karen Carpenter died at the same time in the same room, Cass from choking on a sandwich and Carpenter from refusing to eat the same sandwich.

  • the 60's never fail to amaze me ... unbelievable collection of unique talent. So many styles and voices ... Cass had one of those ... miss those times

  • I remember watching this on TV :)

  • I start my day out with this song , and it gives me such good vibes! Positive energy and love to ALL!!! Thanks cass !!!

  • What show from?

  • Makes me believe there is a new world coming!!! coming in peace ,coming in joy, coming in love. She was ahead of her time! I am always uplifted by her voice and passion!! we need more of it these days!!! Love to her daughter Owen!!!

  • I luv u mama!

  • I adore Cass, but someone with her weight could never make it today...and that's a fucking shame

  • @tlw1950 ..you are right..These days its a shallow world we live in, its not about TALENT anymore. Its about money and looks. Cass Elliot is one of the Greatest!

  • @tlw1950 Adele?

  • @tlw1950 Aretha Franklin still got some game?

    miss you cass

  • @tlw1950 Ya THINK?....She's hearing you ya know?....

  • @tlw1950 and you're wrong. look at adele. thank you.

  • @tlw1950 have you not heard Adelle? fucking mormon cunt you are

  • @seckixf if you disagree with someone post it politely, you don't have to be so rude.

  • @tlw1950 I don't agree, i think it can really work for anyone even more than then.

  • @tlw1950 don't make it about her weight. she got to where she got becasue she was good. Same goes for today. except maybe the 70s clothes wouldnt go over so well cuz...it's not the 70s lol.

  • @tlw1950 does Oprah ring a bell? Our parents had Kate Smith-we had Cass and our children have Oprah-good things do come in large packages.

  • @vandie100 i think they mean in the music industry. where somehow everybody is hot because if you're ugly you can't have a good voice

  • @tlw1950 have you never heard of adele?!

  • that;s bs- look at singers like Aretha Franklin, Mandisa, and Barry White and rappers like fat joe

  • @MariposaGirl1981 its true..what you said ..but in this future and time peple want the artist to be skinny now i thing thats mess up ..people should make music for ears not eyes..that what adele quote

  • @tlw1950 u r SOOOOO correct and isnt sad for our youngsters today -

music produced by computers and voices doctored via computer and pics doctored too !

  • Comment removed

  • @tlw1950

    Adele?

  • @tlw1950 They could make it today, much easier than they could then, believe me. NOBODY was overweight in the 60's, in the entertainment industry. Cass was extremely unusual , and I'm not surprised to read that John Phillips fought strongly to keep her out of the group initially, because of her appearance. These days there is a much greater acceptance of differences. Think "Mike and Molly", Roseanne, Drew Carey, Oprah, John Candy, ....they wouldn' t have had careers in the 60's.

  • THERE IS.. ALWAYS.. A NEW WORLD COMING. Let's MAKE IT ONE of .. LOVE , HOPE, HARMONY and JOY and PEACE! Missing you CASS!

  • Her daughter is also quite pretty. She runs Mama Cass' official website and answers email. It's a fabulous site and a terrific tribute to her mother. But I was only about 6 or 7 when she died - long before I could understand who she was.

  • My favourite of her songs. She's so beautiful I wish I could have gotten to know her.

Her daughter runs the official website and even answers email, but I was too young to understand it all when she died. She's so hot.

  • Beautiful - thanks for posting. She was such a great talent!

  • Mama Cass rules!! We still love you! =)

  • Very sad that she died so young,,one of her best songs

  • @YoungViewer And of course her death is still surrounded in myth, scandal and lies. She deserves better than that.
