Well, not really because they're just copying BBC News who do the same thing.

The reason they do it, and the reason why other channels are cutting back on discussion topics is because they can't afford the variety. This leads to more repetition than normal and a very bland programme which eventually leads to viewers switching off (not just after 15 mins but for good)
