I think digital modelling amps have now become more than good enough to use to practice at home, even for professional guitarists. Something like this or the Roland Cube XL range sound fantastic at bedroom volume levels
BEST!!!! guitar reviews on youtube and what i love about it is that your so honest about the product and not saying all the pro's about it just so you can sell it!
I think if you want a good sounding solid state amp the Marshall mg amps are far Superior because they just make things simple and easy to do while still sounding great!
roland fucking sucks dude.. i borught mine to practice.. it blew our in 1 day.. aparently they put the nob able to go to full volume for just fucking looks. screw off roland ur microcube sucks xDD. any1 who wants to put it on any amount of volume, gain, or metal sounds. DONT buy it
I am among 3:Marshall MG-30 FX, Line 6 Spider IV 30W and ORANGE CRUSH PIX 35LDX...As i said it's the first year and i don't need all these kind of professional effects, but i want to make sounds as closer to Kirk Hammet, Slash, Randy Rhoads and many rock stars as it can be... I can aford them or if you have a better suggestion i can give until 300€...What's your advice???
@videakiasful Get a Peavey Vypyr 30. Same price as the Spider but more and better sounding amp models, stompbox models, better sounding effects, better build quality, overall better amp for the same price as the Spider. Most importantly, it sounds better.
@NiGHTRiDER9001 It is better indeed but as i said i don't need all these type of effects...The only motivation for me is that it costs less than the Line 6 Spider IV (in Greece) (where a Line 6 Spider IV 30W) costs 215€ the Peavey Vypyr 30 costs 177€ plus the shipping charge which is 20€!!!Thanks for the advice though!
@AlexM1175 Some people say that the Line 6 amplifiers are not compatible with all the guitars...I think that it is untrue but even it is, the fact that the Line 6 is digital and not proportional it makes it really sensitive!!!
I want your advice...Im in a dilemma...I have a cheap, no name guitar but i am going to buy an Epiphone Les Paul...This is the first year that i play the guitar, but i have started 3 months ago...It is my passion though and i have learnt some songs of my favourite bands (Guns N' Roses, Metallica)!!!I wanna play songs basically by these bands so the type is rock-hard rock, metal-heavy metal...Now, the thing is that i want to buy a better amp...To be continued in another comment!
My Spider IV sounds like shit, has way too much bass, and the EQ controls don't even work! Yours sounds pretty good for some reason. Maybe mine is defective...
i actually bought this amp acouple days ago and i'm still a little skeptical. whenever i back down the volume on my guitar, the amp just sort of "doesn't register." its like it just dies out. i guess what im saying is THE AMP DOESN'T FEEL ALIVE. i'm not bashing it in anyway, its a great sounding amp for what it is, but does anyone else feel the same way?
@hendrixforever92 I dont have this amp yet but am considering it, but i use a smaller, 15 watt line 6 amp and i have the exact same problem. and every time i turned it to clean, the tap delay would be set for some reason, all i have to do is press the clean button again, or just turn the knob to a different setting and back. just a little more of a nuisance than a problem cause it doesnt affect the sound. i would keep it if i were you. unless you have found something better, then please share!
@Rattlehead0000 yes i use it in my band Morgan's cage, its heavey and way loud!!!!! plenty loud i dont even have it turned up past halfway dude!! great amp i love it.
@Rattlehead0000 its got some punch its powerfull.we have tried it in rehersal but not it giged yet. but it seems to me that its good enough for drums so yes : )
I DONT GIVE A FOOK WHAT ANY BODY SAYS!!! I WILL GIG THIS AMP (THE 75) AN I WILL ROCK! TO DAY I GOT THIS AMP AN TODAY I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT.anybody whos thinking about getting it please dont think twice its great ya love it. but if ya still not sure then feel free to ask me any ??????? u may have. ps awsome vid
Ive been having problems with my Line 6 4 15 watt amp it seems to be making some hummm noises when i try to play and when i try to turn it on it makes hummmmmmm............ and when i play it dosent sound nothing and i turn the volume all the way and hummmmmmmmm...... stillll????
@TheRealAdamBrown well I was suckered into buying this amp before I was decent at guitar, but now that I've playing long enough, I've developed an ear for what sounds good. Any amp can sound like shit if somebody can't play, but for me I can tell that the amp itself just doesn't have the power it proclaims. For an amp that claims to be "metal or insane" it sure doesn't have a ballsy tone to it. It just sounds... electronic and cold, but that's just my opinion.
@TheRealAdamBrown My guitar teacher hates Les Pauls, especially Gibson Les Pauls, for some reason. He says they're mellow, bassey, and not at all versatile. I think totally the opposite! My Les Paul Custom is aggressive, bright, and EXTREMELY versatile. Same goes with the Line 6. Some people told me not to bother. But others said they rock! I personally love the sound of them. Of course, it's not something I'm going to keep forever, I'm just a kid who wants a loud amp so I can be heard! :D LOL
@TheRealAdamBrown Surprisingly the smaller line 6 spider iv's are very good for there size, but the bigger amps aren't good enough to play live. They crackle with loudness and sound fake, but even at low volumes they lack tone and sound too digital.
@TheRealAdamBrown Well for example, a tube amp creates its sound through acoustics coming from the tubes, hence it literally is a real genuine sound being generated. On the other hand, solid state amps such as the line 6, are computer generated. The sound is literally faked and imitated from a tube amp, and unfortunately, you can hear the difference between the acoustics of the tubes and the digital-like sound from the line 6. Anybody with a good ear can tell the difference between these amps.
@xPhablex Lol I'm not saying I can't tell the difference. I love tube amps! In fact the Line 6 is just a substitute until I can get a nice Marshal or Blackstar! As Chappers said it's great for finding what sound you want.
help me sonicstate you're my only hope! no seriously please help lol i picked up the spider IV hd150 head and its just falling flat on everything. its pinch harmonics are dead and flat and the distortion presettings are terrible...... also what setup treb/mid/bass/drive are you using?
i live in a small town closest big city is Saskatoon or Regina there pretty evenly spread i am looking for the 75 or 150 watt amps so i can play with the presets
@Pala16123z0r Any idea how that compares to Line 6 Guitar Port? I was thinking of getting either one of those. The Jamvox looks great value with the speaker! Tell me, can you import your own backing tracks in Jamvox and play to those? Also, can it import video too so you can have audio visual?
I have Line 6 and i've got a question, does FBV shortboard have Line Out because play concerts and I have to buy FBV,I don't want to put micro by the Spider....
i have the 150w head and 412 cab of this, and i play probs 2 gigs a month of varying size audience/venues, and varying styles. this amp actually gigs pretty darn well once you figure out your base sounds as rob said, and get the right tones for what youre playing. i play varying stuff from metal to blues to old school rock and this performs great for the range of tones i need
One of the best reviews I've seen on YouTube! Nicely done. Great sounds too btw. I've been looking for a flexible bedroom practice amp, and I think I'm sold on this one. Thanks!
I have to choose between the 30 watt version of this, and a fender 100w 212r frontman. Which should I get? I have a digitech rp500, an ESP m100fm, and a samick les Paul. I also am in a band that plays gigs.
@skilled0like0slash it depends what channels you are going to use I mostly use clean, metal and distortion so Im not sure what it would sound like on the other channels
@skilled0like0slash I have the 120 watt version, and the "treble" problem is easily manageable with the treble and mid range settings. Any smaller amp is going to get wonky at high volumes - it's one speaker in a small enclosure, and simply not moving enough air to compensate. Besides, the idea with any amp is to have some headroom, not to be cranked to 10.
@deadlyzin101 - When you have it on clean, try turning both effects knobs on then all the way off. Your sound should be clean without any effects. To keep it that way, press and hold the clean button. All the buttons will flash then stop. Now, everytime you push the 'clean' button, there will be no more effects. I have the same amp and have come across this same issue when I first got it. Enjoy!
@gebboo i have a line 6 psider 4 and got some really nice tones out of it but i think the roland is better and the mustand probably a draw witht hte line 6 but i dont it depends
@gebboo If it was me I'd go with the Roland Cube....I was thinking about getting one of these newer line 6's but nawwww too much to chew, but left me still hungry in the end for a better tone....Cubes are nice for metal
@shadowmario321 Use the headphone jack for private practice. I have the 120w version and it seems to range in volume from 'a bit louder than I would like for night practice' to 'turn organs to gelatin'.
After seeing your review of the new Marshall MG15FX every other 15 watt amp seemed to be weak. Just got my new Marshall amp and the sound is just killer. Thanks Rob!!!
@RaaaawrProductions Depends on what is more important to you. The spider jam doesn't have all the bells and whistles as the spider iv. It is more of a true student practice amp. But the drums/jam tracks and the 24 minute looper are cool features. The spider iv has more effects, more presets amp/cab models. It is a pretty good digital amp for the money. Not a Mesa or Marshall, but also a lot more reasonable for those of us not on tour or sponsored.
You say this amp is good to have fun with, does that mean it would be good for beginners who have only played guitar for about a year? i put out this question to Rob Chappers and anyone else. Thanks
@Mattguitar724 In a word, yes. It would be a great starting place or step up from the 'first amp' which is usually hideous. (At least mine was.) Just don't get overwhelmed or disillusioned with the digital toys.
I have a Line 6 Spider III in 75W and with the perfect microphone in front of the speaker and I have been in concerts with my band like this and sounds great!
Don't got all the money in the world for tube amps and this is great in these days of economic crisis.
Do you think this amp is good for playing stuff like pantera and avenged sevenfold? I bought the 150w solid state version but I'm not sure if it's really what I was looking for.. but it was either this or a peavey vypyr.. what do you think?
Does anyone know the song played at 2:00, I've heard in another of his videos and I'd loved to know the chords he's playing.

0AllForNaught0 11 months ago
@0AllForNaught0 thanks man was always goin for a stack strugleing between the versatillity of a line 6 stack of the authenticity of a marshall !

I really suck at all this stuff...but I have this amp and I have it on clean and all effects off and it still sounds echo and like underwaterish.
I just want a regular sound.
deadlyzin101 11 months ago
@deadlyzin101 - When you have it on clean, try turning both effects knobs on then all the way off. Your sound should be clean without any effects. To keep it that way, press and hold the clean button. All the buttons will flash then stop. Now, everytime you push the 'clean' button, there will be no more effects. I have the same amp and have come across this same issue when I first got it. Enjoy!

how about this one next to fender mustang 3 or roland cube 40xl?
gebboo 11 months ago
@gebboo i have a line 6 psider 4 and got some really nice tones out of it but i think the roland is better and the mustand probably a draw witht hte line 6 but i dont it depends
crisDAwog 11 months ago
@gebboo If it was me I'd go with the Roland Cube....I was thinking about getting one of these newer line 6's but nawwww too much to chew, but left me still hungry in the end for a better tone....Cubes are nice for metal

can this amp be queit enough for a bedroom
shadowmario321 1 year ago
@shadowmario321 yes you can range from quiet practice to vibrating the floor above you trust me
Ryley953 1 year ago
@shadowmario321 Use the headphone jack for private practice. I have the 120w version and it seems to range in volume from 'a bit louder than I would like for night practice' to 'turn organs to gelatin'.

After seeing your review of the new Marshall MG15FX every other 15 watt amp seemed to be weak. Just got my new Marshall amp and the sound is just killer. Thanks Rob!!!

What do u think? Spider 4 or Spider Jam? I'm think that sipder jam is better even tho it is a bit older
RaaaawrProductions 1 year ago
@RaaaawrProductions Depends on what is more important to you. The spider jam doesn't have all the bells and whistles as the spider iv. It is more of a true student practice amp. But the drums/jam tracks and the 24 minute looper are cool features. The spider iv has more effects, more presets amp/cab models. It is a pretty good digital amp for the money. Not a Mesa or Marshall, but also a lot more reasonable for those of us not on tour or sponsored.
javanek 1 year ago
@javanek Well I'm in a band and I'm getting one

You say this amp is good to have fun with, does that mean it would be good for beginners who have only played guitar for about a year? i put out this question to Rob Chappers and anyone else. Thanks
Mattguitar724 1 year ago
@Mattguitar724 In a word, yes. It would be a great starting place or step up from the 'first amp' which is usually hideous. (At least mine was.) Just don't get overwhelmed or disillusioned with the digital toys.

omg i didn't expect this much from line 6....
the higher gain settings dont sound good at all!!
But the clean and crunch channels amazed me :)
nine9live5 1 year ago
another stupid sound is trying to play laid to rest by lamb of god on clean with chorus ricocheting.
