Because it doesnt have the room for it. The Suburban has a dependant rear Multi-link suspension. It gives it better ride, handling, and towing capability. But it also takes up a lot of space.

Yes, because solid rear axle always has a better ride than independent suspension...not. Only suburban 2500 has higher towing, the handling difference is questionable
