@artisheopuri Thank you for your kind comment. You may like to watch a more detailed roof in my clip 'Romney Church Lesson 9' (and 10). Thank you also for your subsciption best regards Colin.
I tried to apply pastel pencil on a normal, white canvas. But the chalk did not sit on properly on the support. My art teacher suggested to paint the canvas with acrylic as a base, so the pastel will sit on more properly and the tiny, uncoloured spots would not show as much. But, I don't like how dull the pastels showed on the acrylic base. Could you please give me an advice? Muchly appreciated!
@doteehee You need to use the designated pastel paper for the best results. The paper I use is 160 gram sand coloured Ingres pastel paper, if you have difficulty finding this product we sell it through our mail order service, visit my website for more info. Best regards Colin.
My God! You make it look so simple. Such details baffled me so far, but no more. Thanks for sharing such great tips with us this proved to be quite helpful!
Thank you for all your kind comments. The Faber-Castell pastel pencils are the only ones I would reccommend but you could still acheive results with other pastel pencils. I suggest that you search the web for supplyers of the Faber pencils, start local and work out from there.
Thank you for your comment and your interest. I can only help you with the techniques concerning the pastel pencils as that is my chosen medium. The paper I use 160 gram Ingres paper sand colour, this is the colour I use for every picture. The pastel pencils are called Pitt and are made by Faber-Castell. The rest of the information regarding the techniques I use can best be gained from watching the youtube clips over and practicing them repeatedly using the materials I have listed. regards Colin

Colin-
You are VERY good! I love the colors you used on the roof, and the shadows make the house pop right out of the page. Beautiful!
Say, what method do you use to keep your pastel pecils sharpened? Thanx.
