For the love of god I cannot get this to work. My fish tank is 3 feet off the ground and my siphon is like 5 feet long and it kind of coils around before getting to the bucket if that has anything to do with it. I try to fill it up with water first but only a tiny bit will go in it. Please help!!
omg!! that was easy!! i used it to do a partial change too! wow i have a big tank and i can believe how may years i have done that the hard way.. thanks so much!
Hi Maddy, just came across this post. By pushing the syphon into the gravel u get the dirt sucked up that does get drawn down into the gravel, so yes you would push the syphon into the gravel. Dont worry that some gravel may start to come up in the tube, A little shake and it will fall back out. Check out Petsmart or any of the pet chain stores and you will find one. Best of luck with your tank. :-)
great video!(: i didnt even know wat syphoning meant untill i watched this!!! thanks so much! are you supposed to suck the gravel into the syphon? one video said that. and also where do oyu buy a syphon?? thanks!(:
Ty Ty Ty! It really was super easy. Just got a tank from my friend and she only told me the suck method :( I'm pregnant and refuse to put my mouth on that nasty tube. You saved my fish and baby!
@MommyAmandaKaye Omgoodness! Im so glad u decided not to suck up that nasty water... and im so happy the video was able to help you. Best of luck to you and your baby . :-)
I tried this on my ten gallon tank. Once I placed the hose back in the water, the water stopped coming out. i placed my thumb on the bottom part of the hose, then I stuck the house in the water. I lifted the hose up like you did in the video, then let the water start to drain out, then water come out the other end into my bucket, that all worked, until I place the hose into the water, then the water stopped coming out the hose.
@rattqueen6969 Hi, its very possible that ALL the water ran out of your tube before u put it back into the tank? That would cause the water flow to stop. When u see the water running down the plastic tube put that back into the tank before the water runs out. Best of luck, let me know how u do. :-)
@xX0PatrickIsD3AD0Xx hi, sorry its not working for you. sometimes the debris is just too heavy to pick up. I try to move it around a bit and when it floats, I grab it with the siphon. Try to float the siphon just at the surface of the gravel for most of your cleaning. Use deep cleaning to get the muck and brown stuff that collects under the gravel. I hope this helps. :-)
haha oh boy - I've been putting the entire length of the tube into the tank to fill it with water which scares the crap out of the fish!! I cant believe i never thought to do it this way..... THANK YOU!
I had a problem with an older 55 gal tank and i siphoned it all into giant tubs before the glass broke. I got it all working but as soon as i tried to get it back into the tank(at 12:30) not wanting to wake my parents but I got to get it frmo the bucket to the tank now....I wonder if it works as well...doubt it
yay because the instructions that came with the package said to move the plastic part up and down to start it and that was so tiring and still no water came out !
Ugh before I just scooped it out with pitchers (took FOREVER!!) and this video really helped. I siphoned my tank all by myself and I'm feeling pretty proud. Thanks!
Thanks a ton for this... the instructions on my filter actually have you doing this in a different order and I was going crazy trying to make it work.
hello can you please help me? I was wondering if you made your siphon or did you buy it? It looks like you bought it. If you bought it can you please tell me where and how much you paid for it? thank you!
Another thank you for this video. I kept trying and trying to get the siphon to work and doing this made it work! THANK YOU!!!! My fishies thank you too!
O my gosh thanx so dam much! I got a siphon tube from a pet store with my goldfish and this was my first time using it. Well the instructions said to to hold it and go up and down to start the suction and I was doing that for an hour! 2 drops came out! This really helped. =)
You just saved my life, mate. I got a really sophiscated rubbish from the pet shop with lots of fancy instructions that could not be followed and it was this easy !!! Going to clean the tank right now !! :-)
This is the best demonstration video of how to use a water siphon. Well done and it's good that you're being very clear about it unlike some other peoples videos.
glad to be of some help. This was the first time that my daughter used the siphon, and I was showing her how to do it as well. Then decided that maybe I could help others with it and so did the video of how to. :-)
Lol your video was much more helpful than the packaging instructions. thank yOU!
