I would LOVE to play this game, but I don't have a computer good enough to handle it...
and playing on laptops seem annoying, not to mention it would probably be slow as hell (BTW, mine has the RAM maxed... it was given to me by my grandpa, who had it for a while).
Keep that 21-day trial on-hand. My birthday is on Friday, and I'm expecting to get a new laptop for university. I'm confident I can run EVE on the new laptop.
I also play on a laptop (not a top-of-the-line laptop either) and have only had problems when connecting through Wi-Fi (but that had nothing to do with the laptop)
Get a half-ass decent laptop and you'll be fine.. Mine was only like $800 at Best Buy [I know, I know..I'm not the one who picked it out] and I'm still able to play with maxed settings (turned down for large fleets, of course)

the community is to small. I play VCO online, its taken me 3 months of straight play and i have a medium battleship but the game is free to play and the community is stronger than EVE BUT TRUST ME, it EVE was free to play i would totally play it, just not enough ppl. O bye the way VCO online is a Navy, Land battle 18 century game, Pirates, Kings, Merchants etc, The land-sea battle thing is something WOW, or EVE dose not have and needs.
@numelar i dont care how many ppl you think is alot with a steady incline. 300,000 to you is a large group, to me its small. the game creators, 1 is a friend of mine, says its still a small one, not to mention they fear the new star trek game will take more ppl away from this game. @newm123 To be honost 2 weeks of play was not enough time for you to see any part of this game, nor make opionions on population. As far as STO it is a VERY different game so its hard to say that it would have any effect on eve at all. If you are making opionions to eve online due to the population base i suggest you play a little longer before you make assumptions.

No one is afraid of Star Trek Online. More likely that will draw twitch players, and people that can actually stand running on multiple "realms" like WoW players. Eve players have a higher standard, and STO doesnt meet the grade at this point.

thinkk of it like this even thought theres only 300k+ players playing, they all all on 1 server so u will never meet 1 person twice unless they live at the same place u do 300k+ players on 1 srver is a lot, other games only let about 5000 peopl play at one time.

also, 300k on one single server is 10 fucktons of people. WoW for example, has only 5-6k on a signle server at most online at a time, EVE has almost constantly between 30k and 55k on the server.
I played WoW for 4 years. Beat every single PvE boss in TBC and was a season 1 gladiator. I can safely say that WoW is the SIMPLEST GAME EVER TO MASTER THE MECHANICS OF. Eve, on the other hand, I have been playing for a couple months and is so complex I am still a 'noob.'

thats all depends on if you apparently learned from the mistake. you gotta act fast even if the game is only so slow for you to think enough in the pvp time of fighting. you need to learn the weakness,areas,maps,how your dudes gonna react to your attacks,what he's gonna do,etc,etc,etc. a mistake is something that comes Off from a 'unnotice' thing that 'you' didn't spec it to happen. so 'pvp' seems 'easy' but it's really NOT if you really learn the stuff of area,weakness,etc,etc.
Lol? You have never played EVE then. EVE is fully 3d (beside the far background), and actually has good graphics, not like those 5-poly-trees WOW has. WoW sucks, period.
CounterLogic, wow still sucks, it still has shitty polygon graphics, and combat rendering is representative at best. The game's expansions are shit, the 'new content' is the same formula with different skins and different hoops to jump through. And pvp... i wont even start.

You have it all wrong. You have to manage your cap and stuff.... and you don't respawn... much more fun. And 10 times better than spamming frostbolt or pyroblast.
LOL. Seriously, LOL. Damage inflicted in WoW is a random value between two numbers, divided by resistance. In EVE, damage depends on distance in meters, your velocity, your targets velocity, angular velocity between both ships, ammo, your skills of which at least 20 modify the inflicted damage, your optimal range, falloff, four different resistances...must I continue? Also you have to manage your cap use, etc. Short: EVE is a million times more tactical than WoW ever can hope to be.
man eve is a game that will take you a long time to do stuff Like the ship the guy is playing in probably wasnt his first. All because he wasnt fitted right for pvp one time then died and probably did the same thing over and over again but with different fittings until now when he had the right and he could attack people. Thats why eve is a better tactics game then WoW. If we took the way u described wow and put it in an eve position ur talking about using lasers or projectile guns on the ship

go look a video of pros playing wow and take a close look at all the skill they are using and at how fast they fight,you ll see that you need to think and react much faster in wow than in eve..if you like it more well,its your choice but anyone that knows mmos will tell you eve is the worst
while in Eve all what you do is right click on ship,toggle orbit,push some buttons to put auto attack on and watch a totally boring,slow fight...same thing for evrything else in this game,its all about right clicking thing then watching slow and boring animations for hours..in a ''box space'' that looks like 2d wallpapers..

Yeah it's slow to start sure, it's not a jump-in-dick-first-and-own-all type game like WoW and other exp-based games are where you can power level to the top. In EvE it takes patience and PvP comes with time, skill, and experience. Victory comes to those who can train for it, and learn the mechanics of the game and implement them.
nah its not once you get used to it should give it a try play it for till the end of the trial and you should have enough understanding to want to play more should you find it interesting and not boring :-P
the guns ant really that important he prob using projectile coz they us eno cap and by looks of it he has enuf cap problems as it is!!! all his dps is coming out of his drones just how it should be....so wack ur drone skills up and hoep they ant cleaver enuf to hit ur drones first and u be A ok :)

The Myrmidon kinda stinks now...since you can no longer bring 5 Orge II's out. I'd rather use Projectiles on it, due to no cap useage, and those where blasters.
compared to the other ships, their relatively new, the lv2 BCs only came in 06 - 07, as with the lv3 Battleships. Check the old size comparison pictures and theres alot of ships missing.

wrong. So wrong. you need to actually know what you're talking about before you spout. Gallente can achieve cap stable l4 tanks. Their shield tanking is easily on par with their armor tanking, and a hell of a lot better for exp rats. Obviously you don't solo pvp with a shield tank.... but that's always been true.
the myrm can fit a mean passive tank (for PVE only) Domi back when megastabs did not stack and warpcore stabs were normal fit a mean shield tank but yes its generally bad to shield tank them
you know what, I made a myrmidon passive shield tank recently and to my surprise it has more shield regen and cap stability than a drake! And it's faster and does much more DPS! Everybody cries about the wasted armor bonus. honestly, who cares about the armor bonus, when you can get way better defense with shields. only thing the drake has on it are the resists, so really they are both about the same in terms of overall defense.
overall the drake will still outank the myrm with shields because of the shield resists. even if it gains shield faster with the extra lowslots, its total dps tank will be less.

I bet in WoW if you killed something it will respawn 20 mins later.

the community is to small. I play VCO online, its taken me 3 months of straight play and i have a medium battleship but the game is free to play and the community is stronger than EVE BUT TRUST ME, it EVE was free to play i would totally play it, just not enough ppl. O bye the way VCO online is a Navy, Land battle 18 century game, Pirates, Kings, Merchants etc, The land-sea battle thing is something WOW, or EVE dose not have and needs.

@numelar i dont care how many ppl you think is alot with a steady incline. 300,000 to you is a large group, to me its small. the game creators, 1 is a friend of mine, says its still a small one, not to mention they fear the new star trek game will take more ppl away from this game. Trust me i loved eve online, i played a 2 week free trial and wished i could play longer, but paying money monthly to this game now with otheres like it coming out is giving me doubts.

@newm123 To be honost 2 weeks of play was not enough time for you to see any part of this game, nor make opionions on population. As far as STO it is a VERY different game so its hard to say that it would have any effect on eve at all. If you are making opionions to eve online due to the population base i suggest you play a little longer before you make assumptions.

No one is afraid of Star Trek Online. More likely that will draw twitch players, and people that can actually stand running on multiple "realms" like WoW players. Eve players have a higher standard, and STO doesnt meet the grade at this point.

but i think what numelar was trying to say is that yes, wow has 6 mil players, but you will only get to play with maybe 5000-10000 at best, eve is where those 300k+ players are all crammed into one server, so it does feel big
btw if u know some1 who works at ccp ask them if they are ever going to implement anti-aliasing into the game engine, thx

thinkk of it like this even thought theres only 300k+ players playing, they all all on 1 server so u will never meet 1 person twice unless they live at the same place u do 300k+ players on 1 srver is a lot, other games only let about 5000 peopl play at one time.

@newm123: Actually I hope STO will take away players from EVE: The players, that are 23/7 whining arround how glitchy, evil and full of griefers EVE is.
also, 300k on one single server is 10 fucktons of people. WoW for example, has only 5-6k on a signle server at most online at a time, EVE has almost constantly between 30k and 55k on the server.

Long story short: Eve is epic win, wow is epic fail.
You might have your preferences but you'd have to be blind not to see that.

I played WoW for 4 years. Beat every single PvE boss in TBC and was a season 1 gladiator. I can safely say that WoW is the SIMPLEST GAME EVER TO MASTER THE MECHANICS OF. Eve, on the other hand, I have been playing for a couple months and is so complex I am still a 'noob.'

the overview setting allow you to change colours and labels on things, or just turn colours and labels off.

thats all depends on if you apparently learned from the mistake. you gotta act fast even if the game is only so slow for you to think enough in the pvp time of fighting. you need to learn the weakness,areas,maps,how your dudes gonna react to your attacks,what he's gonna do,etc,etc,etc. a mistake is something that comes Off from a 'unnotice' thing that 'you' didn't spec it to happen. so 'pvp' seems 'easy' but it's really NOT if you really learn the stuff of area,weakness,etc,etc.

wow is just made coloured as possible and they never change the graphics
it just get more and more colours - thats it.
in eve they complete change skins/effects/models/etc
at last if ur in wow on ur "lvl 60" or what ever is the may u can beat anyone without any kind of tactics.
this wont work in eve.
if u have battleship- u can get f*cked bye frigattes or what ever - just a question of use the right stuff at the right time!

CounterLogic, wow still sucks, it still has shitty polygon graphics, and combat rendering is representative at best. The game's expansions are shit, the 'new content' is the same formula with different skins and different hoops to jump through. And pvp... i wont even start.

in wow you dont only need a high lvl..its much more tactical than that shit..just look at this vid,there is like 3 diferent type of buttons to push lol,5 guns of the same kind,shield booster and repairs and rest is just platings and things like that...in wow each of your spell is diferent,and have to be used in diferent situations,eve is for ppl who think clicking to move and activating auto attacks is called tactics..for having played it and played many other mmo,i can tell you eve is the worst

You have it all wrong. You have to manage your cap and stuff.... and you don't respawn... much more fun. And 10 times better than spamming frostbolt or pyroblast.

LOL. Seriously, LOL. Damage inflicted in WoW is a random value between two numbers, divided by resistance. In EVE, damage depends on distance in meters, your velocity, your targets velocity, angular velocity between both ships, ammo, your skills of which at least 20 modify the inflicted damage, your optimal range, falloff, four different resistances...must I continue? Also you have to manage your cap use, etc. Short: EVE is a million times more tactical than WoW ever can hope to be.

man eve is a game that will take you a long time to do stuff Like the ship the guy is playing in probably wasnt his first. All because he wasnt fitted right for pvp one time then died and probably did the same thing over and over again but with different fittings until now when he had the right and he could attack people. Thats why eve is a better tactics game then WoW. If we took the way u described wow and put it in an eve position ur talking about using lasers or projectile guns on the ship

go look a video of pros playing wow and take a close look at all the skill they are using and at how fast they fight,you ll see that you need to think and react much faster in wow than in eve..if you like it more well,its your choice but anyone that knows mmos will tell you eve is the worst

while in Eve all what you do is right click on ship,toggle orbit,push some buttons to put auto attack on and watch a totally boring,slow fight...same thing for evrything else in this game,its all about right clicking thing then watching slow and boring animations for hours..in a ''box space'' that looks like 2d wallpapers..

when your play pvp the battles are much much faster...
are you just a sec to slow then you die...
eve is for people who fight with the brain...
in WoW you only need a high level...
in EvE you can have a Battleship and a good player can kill you with a normal Cruiser

Yeah it's slow to start sure, it's not a jump-in-dick-first-and-own-all type game like WoW and other exp-based games are where you can power level to the top. In EvE it takes patience and PvP comes with time, skill, and experience. Victory comes to those who can train for it, and learn the mechanics of the game and implement them.

The Myrmidon kinda stinks now...since you can no longer bring 5 Orge II's out. I'd rather use Projectiles on it, due to no cap useage, and those where blasters.

compared to the other ships, their relatively new, the lv2 BCs only came in 06 - 07, as with the lv3 Battleships. Check the old size comparison pictures and theres alot of ships missing.

wrong. So wrong. you need to actually know what you're talking about before you spout. Gallente can achieve cap stable l4 tanks. Their shield tanking is easily on par with their armor tanking, and a hell of a lot better for exp rats. Obviously you don't solo pvp with a shield tank.... but that's always been true.

the myrm can fit a mean passive tank (for PVE only) Domi back when megastabs did not stack and warpcore stabs were normal fit a mean shield tank but yes its generally bad to shield tank them

you know what, I made a myrmidon passive shield tank recently and to my surprise it has more shield regen and cap stability than a drake! And it's faster and does much more DPS! Everybody cries about the wasted armor bonus. honestly, who cares about the armor bonus, when you can get way better defense with shields. only thing the drake has on it are the resists, so really they are both about the same in terms of overall defense.

overall the drake will still outank the myrm with shields because of the shield resists. even if it gains shield faster with the extra lowslots, its total dps tank will be less.
