Very nice! But which has neck thickness closer to real lp? The Tokai or the v100? My V100 neck seemed a little thin, though they do vary even with same model.
do it, man - you won't be disappointed. the A4s are great, they have the warmth and spongeyness of A2s with some of the bite of the A5. i love 'em. that guitar is still my number one, after five months - a new record!
I'm getting a couple of Zebra PAFs from Catwhisker too. I'm going to ask for 2 slightly hotter 59' style gibson humbuckers. I'll be glad if it sounds as good as this though.
Hey man, good work. That pickup is not too hot, and has good drynamics, as you can here when you turn the volume down. And what is a "mojobox"? I have only heard of them from your profile? Are they a well known thing? Because if they are, I am going to feel VERY stupid. But yeah, sounds sweet.
yeah, the mojobox is a secret known only to a few on the My Les Paul forums... it's a magic box that goes between guitar and amp and makes it sound cool :o)
hi man, just responded to another guy about the mojobox. it's a rare, handbuilt box that goes between guitar and amp and gives me another level of control, and makes everything sound nice :o)
Did you notice any difference between the wilkinson ones?

yeah, the V100 is more of a '60 style neck - the Hodson was a FAT neck, and the tokai was inbetween. my hands always preferred the V100 though.

seriously, Allan is amazing. He'll wind you exactly what you want. any idea what magnet and output you're going for?
mistersnaredrum 2 years ago
Well I don't really like pickups too hot, I was hoping he'd use alnico 5 which I think he is. He emailed me back and said he's do those for £50 each!
Michaelfender 2 years ago
yeah, alnico 5s have a really nice quite bright sound. the black bridge pickup in one of the guitars in this vid is an alnico 5. great stuff
mistersnaredrum 2 years ago
watching this vid again after a while, i REALLY like the way the A4s sound in the last guitar sound. no wonder that's my number one...

eeey... nice one!
