Hi Ms Vanessa, your daughter Amanda is so talented! She's just so amazing! (I've watched ALL her dance videos!) I'm very impressed at her and she's really passionate. I have eczema too! Awonderfully talented dancer...I would be concerned as a parent about a girl so young doing any toe work. The bones are not yet ossified and at this age it is certainly not worth risking permanent damage.

lol. umm this is TAP not POINTE. shes fine. i would understand your point if she was doing all her pirouettes in a pointe shoe,..... but shes a tapper & im sure that her teacher wouldnt let her on pointe shes too young.

It doesn't matter if she's wearing Tap shoes or pointe shoes, the fact remains that the bones in the feet have not yet ossified at this age and any movements that take the full weight of the body onto the tips of the toes ( the growth point ) will cause damage. She enters the stage doing chaine turns on pointe and there are toe stands in the routine.

Think of the thousands of times she rehearsed these moves, performed them... the damage adds up.

We do pointe work in tap. It's a good thing to have especially wings on points. But yeah she's too young to do ballet pointe I would have thought, her ankles wouldn't be strong enough.

Amanda has already done 4 regionals this season. We have 5 more to go. Our studio has 4 Required Regionals and 2 others that certain groups attend. Then the other 3 you can do solos - duos - trios at them.

Amanda still has 12-13 hours of dance per week, even with a switch of studios. This change has been VERY positive for Amanda's growth as a dancer. She is involved and growing with other dancers her age and level. Anyone can be a great soloist with the right technique classes, but not anyone can just be in lines and have that same feel and look and flow right away. Amanda has found that and is really enjoying her lines as well as her other dances too.

what is wrong with you people! thi is one of the most age-appropriate costumes i've seen! most kids - if you've even looked at other dances - are in bra-like tops and mini skirts. i teach tap dancing and have had kids perform in short skirts and mini tops at the age of 5. if anything i think she would be a bit hot in this costume! just look at what glitz pageant kids are made to wear and i'm sure you'll think before posting a comment like that. it's dancing!

I think she is better at lyrical then tap to tell you the truth she is a wonderful tap dancer for an 8 year old but the dance was lacking steps a lot of it was just shuffles and other tricks. She is really good but there wasn't much steps and you shouldnt have her doing wings at the start if she cant do them
