  • This could of work.....in bizarro world.

(note my name comes from a joke from Comic Book News by Dukealoops)

  • hate to say this but...EVERY ONE CHILL OUT am not a frank miller fan yes but am least he has done some goodwork on things like daredevil.Frank work has often been met with positive reception. Daredevil: Born Again and The Dark Knight Returns were both a critical success, and Batman: Year One was met with even greater praise for its gritty style. Most of his previous work. it just another elseworlds comic anyway it not like it was in countdown (god could anyone see that world) lol

  • This is so confusing! Batman never kills people. It's against his rules. Also I wonder if 16:23-16:55 is what manga artists write to each other. The fan service is blatant.

  • Do people realize that All Star Batman & Robin is a book that's not meant to be taken seriously? Frank Miller has stated many times that it is supposed to be a parody and a satire of the Batman comics. The book is poking fun at the psychopathic side of Batman.

  • @FireFistShikamaru for him to be making fun of a side of something, it would have to exist in the first place, also, there's a big difference between satire, and bullshit, like the fight against robin and green lantern that green lantern loses, even though it should take all of two seconds for lantern to crush both of them.

  • @lich109 It does. Frank Miller is making fun of the way some writers write Batman these days. Some writers write him like a complete psychopath who isn't mentally stable in any way (and yes, I know that Batman is supposed to be a bit insane but some writers ridiculously overdue it). Frank Miller is poking fun at the way those writers write Batman. He's stated many times he believes some writers write him too insane.

  • @FireFistShikamaru Incidentally, the reason his inner monologue ruins it for me is because the guy we listen to clearly has no idea how to plan and coordinate his attacks against criminals, I can't buy that this batman stands a chance against any of his rogue's gallery when all he does is run in and hit things, without the monologue it could be possible to fool us into thinking that batman has plans to defeat his enemies, and not just luck.

  • @lich109 That's the idea. Frank Miller is making fun of how insane Batman really is. He's so obsessed with hunting criminals down that he just goes on a rampage without planning ahead. The purpose is to make you laugh at how angry and insane this guy is. Once again, it's not supposed to be taken seriously.

  • @lich109 Overall, NOTHING in this book is meant to be taken seriously. This book is basically Frank Miller just making fun of the Batman character (not because he dislikes Batman but because he dislikes how a lot of writers portray Batman in the canon DC universe as if he was a completely insane monster with complete lack of self-control or humanity).

  • @FireFistShikamaru It seems odd then that he wouldn't right it as satire, or at least some comprehensible satire and if all else fails, at least make the satire interesting or funny.

In this, all we see is a guy repeat the same dialogue (something I could kinda understand if I reached a lot) talk about how awesome he is (I can get that) and do the exact opposite of what he is supposed to do (protect people) and use methods that go against even his costume (laughing to give away position).

  • @FireFistShikamaru Not to mention when he starts introducing other characters that he tries to destroy with this book, it comes off as if frank is a mean spirited little kid at a playground, playing with his batman toy and arguing "He's best, and if you don't think so, you're stupid!" It almost seems as if frank is writing a "what not to do" guide as a comic that gets everything wrong, and if that was what it was meant to be, then I'd praise the guy.

  • @lich109 "He's the best and if you don't think so, you're stupid" is EXACTLY what Batman fanboy extremists always say about him. I'm sure you heard it tons of times on the internet that Batman is the greatest and that no one can beat him in a fight (not Superman, Galactus, God, etc.) and that you're a fucking moron if you don't think so. Hell, even the normal Batman fans still say that but as a joke. Miller is basically making fun of all the fanboys that say that by writing Batman like that.

  • @lich109 (continued) Also, how many times have you heard people say "Batman can do *insert unlikely ability or technique here* because he's Batman!" How many times have you heard that from idiotic fanboys? Frank Miller based his "I can do this because I'm the goddamn Batman!" line on those stupid claims. The book isn't just a parody of Batman's character or of his comics. It also parodies what stupid people in real life say about Batman and how they ridiculously overpower Batman sometimes.

  • @FireFistShikamaru Okay, in that case, I'll give you that it is a parody, but what you have to give me is that it is a bad parody. It is not well written, has way too much padding, is underdeveloped, and is inconsistent.

  • @FireFistShikamaru (continued) If he actually did things like "I can do X because I'm Batman" I think I could get behind it, also, when I say mean spirited, he is trying to ruin the characters, a good way to parodying the other characters would be to have Bruce making fun of them in some way, but have the characters keep their real personalities, like: "I know who you are Clark, and you have NO damn idea who I am" and have superman thinking to himself "I wonder if Bruce is crazy or something."

  • @lich109 The fight they had with Green Lantern is also supposed to not be taken seriously. That was Frank Miller poking fun at the whole "Batman is invincible and can defeat every living being in the world with prep time". I'm sure you've heard Batman fans in the past say that Batman can beat anyone because he is "the goddamn Batman". Frank Miller took that idea and parodied (spelling?) it in that fight with Green Lantern.

  • @FireFistShikamaru I'd honestly be willing to buy that bit with green lantern then, as well as a lot of other things, if batman had less or no inner monologue. That is really the thing that ruins it, it goes beyond the realm of parodies, and into the realm of stupid, a proper parody of his darker side would be criminals being let loose after six months in the hospital, only to be immediately beat up again, not killed, as good parodies accent the weird things that are already there.

  • @lich109 Stuff like him putting Robin through labor work and referring to him as "My little Robin" isnt an indication that it's parodying the whole idea of Batman putting a kid at risk by letting that kid fight along his side? Thats just 1 example. And whether you think it's a good parody or not, at least criticize it on whether it's a good parody or not. Don't criticize it from a serious perspective. Thats like criticizing a bad comedy not for being a bad comedy but for not being a good drama.

  • @FireFistShikamaru Sorry, but I more and more doubt that.

    1. It wasnt ever marketed as satire, before it got negative reactions.

    2. It makes no sence taking place in the same universe, as Year One and DKR.

And as far as I know, Miller was asked to do a serious story. If he decided to make it satire, he should tell someone.

  • @Ikarosus

    1) That's because it wasn't supposed to be a satire. DC wanted it to be a modern update on Batman similar to the Ultimate Marvel titles. But Frank Miller said "Fuck that. I'm making a Batman satire."

    2) I agree with that.

  • @Ikarosus 3) Miller has a track record of being asked to do something and doing something completely different than what Marvel and DC intended for him to do. He's done this a lot and those comics usually turned out far more successful in reactions and popularity than Marvel and DC hoped for.

  • @Ikarosus His work on Daredevil is a good example of this. He was put on the book, didn't listen to anything Marvel said and completely reinvented the character. His run on Daredevil today is considered to be the pinnacle of Daredevil in comics and he also successfully reinvented the character into what he is today. I'm not saying that he always comes out with a masterpiece when not doing what he's asked to do by Marvel and DC. I'm just saying that it HAS happened in the past.

  • Linkara, I had always loved you, but now that I found out that you have no problem with Batman's voice in The Dark Knight made me love you even more. I had searched high and low but everyone hates it (Simon Pegg, Kevin Smith, Doug Walker, James Rolfe, Kevin Conroy, TJ Kincaid, Matt Stone, The Spill Crew, my own mom, etc.) Can't wait for TDKR!!!!!!!!

  • im still tryna work out how Batman grew a 5oclock shadow when Bruce Wayne:Agent of NAMBLA was babyfaced cleanshaven with Vicky Vale -__-

  • 3 people are dense and retarded.

  • did he make fun of sin city?

  • God that script sounded like something ripped out of a charlie sheen book.

  • That script was creepy as hell

  • Yeah, I have to agree. That comic does suck! I mean Batman is kidnapping a 12 year old for crying out loud! Already on the second issue and I'm already needing therapy!

  • I'd like to continue this comic, but go out of my way to make it purposely bad, satirical almost. I'd have part where Steve goes into a flower shop and smashes it up with a baseball bat because he things the lady that runs it is Poison Ivy. He locks Robin in the attic and gives him a video game to keep himself entertained...not the TV or the console, just the game. When Winter comes round he thinks it's Mr. Freeze. Alfred says it's just the weather and Steve thinks he's been brainwashed.

  • frank miller is still the best,i cant see why people hate it this along with holy terror are amazing works

lewis should stop being a feminist pussy and get his own life his personal views are ruining comics for all

  • Everyone is entitled to their opinion HOWEVER simply expressing their personal opinions can never ruin comics for everyone. If you choose to let a persons personal opinions ruin something for you then that's on you. Watching this does not make me hate Frank Miller and to be frank if some one is stupid enough to hate someone based on a few bad reviews then it's their loss. They are choosing to lose out on good stories.

Saying Lewis is ruining all comics is really silly.

  • @LACUEVADELOBO8721

God forbid people having different opinions and voicing them

I might not agree on everything he has to say, but I do see his points and it's quite interesting to listen to

Still wanna read the comic myself and see what I think about it, nothing being "ruined"

If anything this review made me more interested in the comic

Everybody is not gonna like or dislike your favorite writer/idol whatever, welcome to reality

  • Seeing this comic made the Bat-fan die in me a little- no, a lot. No a lot... A lot.

  • After have seeing that script I think I hate Frank Miller.

  • the dialogue is so fucking ooc it hurts.

  • Man The Spirit sucked.

  • Nuts? Do you want to see nuts kid? I'll show you nuts!

    Thats really creepy.

  • What happened to you Franky?

  • Maybe this comic was to balance out all of Batman's awesome...with crap

  • Oh god what has he done to you batman

  • is anyone else puzzled by the fact that bruce wayne is clean shaven and batman has some pretty epic stuble going on

  • "...and at some points peadophilic!"

Well you ARE reviewing Batman and Robin, why are you surprised you're coming across these vibes?

  • I think that this guy should do the voice of Vicky Vale if she is ever in another animated series! He is the best! : )

Oh and Frank Miller is a sexist doofus and JIm Lee should not be the latest editor of DC.

  • Reaction to Frank Millar's script-

    o.0

  • Wait, does he fly or doesn't he?

  • If there are any Chuggaacinroy fans watching this review, you'll know my exitment!!! STEVE IS THE GODAMN BATMAN!!! OMGZ OMGZ OMGZ!!!

    ...I need a life U_U"

  • And yet, through all of this, I can still conclude that Frank Miller is a far, FAR better writer and artist than the idiots doing the Archie Sonic the Hedgehog comics.

  • This is too funny xD

  • I bought it for the art.

  • I honestly think Frank Miller meant this as a parody of Batman.... sort of like I think he meant for The Dark Knight Strikes Again. This would explain why neither of these two seems to fit into The Dark Knight Returns - the superior masterpiece above all this silly crap... even though it is said to be within the same continuity. I mean, sure - the comics are still crappy. But I don't think Frank Miller is stupid enough to not do things like this intentionally. Same goes for The Spirit.

  • @kurvos Go watch Linkara's Review of issues 3 and 4. He really is that stupid.

  • @AxelXGabriel I've been watching his reviews of that more times than I can count. I thought too first he was "that stupid". Stop worshipping Linkara so much and try to let my point of view get into you - if you are going to be closeminded about it, then zip it.

  • @kurvos Wow, thanks for the insult. And guess what, If Frank Miller cares more about sexualizing women then giving them character, turning characters that are nowhere NEAR what they are supposed to be, and constantly repeating the same lines over and over and over. Then yeah, My opinion is Frank Miller is a horrible writer. Period.

  • didn't know batman was part of team Dai Gurren

  • THis isnt Batman forever.

"Its the Car right chicks dig the car."

  • Wow when he was reading the script I thought he was just making it up, lol omg, lol, that's hilarious, that's hilarious, that's hilarious, that's hilarious, and in case you didn't get it the first time, that's hilarious

  • I thought I was the only one who hated the Frank Miller movies.

  • I love the goddamn Batman

  • ....Frank miller is a bit of a perverted freak

  • I refuse to associate this with Year One.

  • 26:23 the cat saving moment was one of the coolest things Batman ever did. IMHO of cause

  • 15:10 - 15:13 EPIC!!

  • OH GOD NO ROBIN GET OUT OF THERE BAD TOUCH, BAD TOUCH!!!!!

  • uh lame color

  • Frank Miller disliked this.

  • @TWOMERCY No, Crazy Steve disliked this. XD

  • That's right, girls, if you can't find A glittering vampire to get all squishy over, your life is pretty much over. Thanks Stephanie Meyer

  • Haha, I ended up clicking on this vid by accident, but then I couldn't stop watching. Awesome review! I loved your exspression while reading the narration boxes! :D I'm also really glad that guys also realize Frank Millers weird and a bit creepy attitude towards women characters.. All in all, great job, I'm still laughing my ass off!:D

  • Yay Sonic The Hedgehog reference

  • @FallenJackal1 and don't forget about: "somedays you just can't get rid of a bomb!"

  • Wait a tic its like Batman Forever. this Comic is nothing more then a spoff of Batman forever

  • Yes the famous THIS IS SPARTA is used on A spoff of

    THIS ISNT FUNNY

This is why superman works alone

  • hilarious- on the script depicting the artist direction female, "make them drool" lmao

  • thank GOD im not the only one who thinks this >.> im public enemy #1 on a fourm for not liking this comic

  • This book made me wish I was blind and could erase my memories.

  • "I'm the goddamn batman" is the best batmansaying that I heard besides "my god..bees"

  • What is nambla? Why is goddamn crazy Steve an agent? What is nambla? What is nambla?

  • @DustInTheWind64

North American Man Boy Love Association. Or North American Marlon Brando Lookalikes.

  • @RiderAndKallen Lol SP reference FTW.

  • I loved this but I understand why people had different expectations and hated it. The art is beautiful and the dialogue often was hilarious (whether that was purposeful or not) and it was just a fun book.

  • i like how linkara said that batmans so cool that the word cool is acknowledged in his dictionary

  • So be it: Frank Miller's Batman shall hence be known as Crazy Steve.

  • Linkara should have given this more credit, it's the goddamn Batman, c'mon.

    It's so bad it's awesome.

  • @Archedgar No...no it is'nt.

  • @Archedgar Yeah well, to me I think this is the comic that somehow helped Joel Shumacher to come up with the idea of the BAT CREDIT CARD!

I'LL KILL THAT BASTARD! I'LL KILL EVERYONE WHO TOOK PART OF THAT DAMN MOVIE!

  • @DarkSolnea The movie was released in the 1997. The comic was launched in 2005, roughly 8 years later. It's impossible for the comic to have inspired anything in the movie since the movie was released years earlier.

While I share your Bat Rage over the credit card, I think you should do your research on release dates before saying something was inspired by something else.

  • @DarkSolnea even the (horrible Austrian accent) BRODY MAN?!?

  • @Archedgar It might be funny, but Batman would NEVER say that. what's wrong with just "I'm Batman".

  • i liked it when I read it at barnes and noble.

  • @sjtime They still sell this shit?

  • @Sirikyuse if you dig though there books section, my comic books section at my store is one self side big

  • @Sirikyuse dude say what you want about this series, it is one of the funniest things I have read, I know linkara complains about this but seriously...black canary as an irish ninja!

  • @edl01reviews I do see the unintentional humor in this series, but that's one of it's worst problems. I assume that Mr. Miller wanted this to be taken seriously, so the fact that you and I both find it hilarious at times means Frank has done a terrible job at writing this series.
