  • hi i was wondering is it very difficult to take care of a pecan tree this will be the first nut tree i plant and im not that familiar with it i just love pecans and i don't want to buy them anymore i rather plant a tree lol

  • Why am i watching this.

  • We have dozens of pecan trees in NE Oklahoma. They stay for years in a bag in a freezer, just trying to help out.

  • Pecans will last more than 3 months. I have had some for over a year and they are still good.

  • You gotta love this guy with his surplus store boonie hat and his blue jeans while he is out in the wilderness.(his own property) Cracks me the F --k up

  • Do you know of any good ways to get the pecans off the tree with out big machinery?

  • lay a large trap down near the time they normal drop, then the first hard windy day will do the work for you....

    donze52 films

  • pecans are a great protein source for surviving and they sell good too at lease 1dollar a pound for certain types i think those were stewarts they go for 1.10per pound here they have the best fat content.

  • or u could just stock up on foods besides pecans...u would probably get sick of those after like 2 days....also if u need to watch someone on youtube crack open a pecan and tell you how to eat it you might as well forget about surviving a disaster cuz you wont have a prayer

  • For some reason I thought you were in South Texas. What part of TX are you located. Im in Austin

  • @calld2serve I'am in East Texas - just north of beaumont

  • So if the Squirrel is my main competition , for once you can eat the competition.

  • Butter pecan ice cream would have to be my favorite pecan dish.

  • me too. they're so hard to clean up after. lol . when i'm mowing or baggin leaves i have to be very careful. cuz green walnuts murder my lawnmower blade.

  • Dried pecan leaves are like candy to goats.

  • Mosquitoes in November? I'm jealous.

I would love to see a video on how to make acorn flour if you have that knowledge in you bag of tricks. I kinda know but would love to see it done.

  • For the record, in Texas, they are called Pa-Cohns. I always laugh when I hear out of staters say PeeCanns. You will stand out immediately in Texas by saying that...

  • well said :)

  • ive picked up about 190 lbs so far, gonna sell them

  • Screw the trees, let's talk about pecan pie. It's your real best friend.

  • pies dont reproduce themselves and dont store very good, but aside from that I love them.

  • thats brilliant....i'm definantly looking into buying a pecan tree or 2 now

  • I dont have pecan trees, but how about Walnuts trees!

  • .Where I grew up in SC the neighborhood was a pecan grove. (we say pee-can) They removed just enough trees to squeeze the houses in, so everyone had at least 2 OLD pecan trees. These trees put out a good crop about every other year, we would pick up buckets of them.

  • In my town out here in Ca. The city has a program to give out free fruit trees once a year. Hippies some times have good ideas. lol :)

  • i bet those"free" government fruit trees coast 300.00 bucks each i know paper clips do!!

yea hippies had great ideas they just didn't accomplish them .......or anything!!

  • cool, never knew that. GREAT video five stars.

  • Misquotes in November? Thats bullsh...

Thanks for the info. To be honest I had no idea how versatile/beneficial pecans are. Let alone what they look like in their natural state.

    Thanks, cheers.

  • in TX i can buy it. there where some the other day here in TN.

  • to be honest I'm not sure if I've ever seen any around here in PA. I just came up from FL and its a totally different game and I'm not sure If my memory is clashing but I know i've seen them down there, but up here is where it matters now

  • He does look like Dangle!! HAHAHA.

  • I loooove pecan pie <3

  • Five Stars!!

  • I love my pecan tree's, We eat all we can and sell the rest. Ive got a deep freezer full of em.

  • wow, you go on people's video comments to insult them.

    what a moron you are!

  • im not calling deputy jim dangle a redneck im calling that 1 guys comment a redneck

  • my fault!

  • Thanks

  • pecans are one of the things I want to get started this year in my garden. I live in Ga the pecan capital of the world lol and my god there so expesive to buy here. Much cheaper to just grow your own and have them on hand.

  • Pecan pie hits the spot!!!

  • I wish pecans would grow here, but the chill period is way to long for them. I am however going to order some hazelnut bushes this next spring. I love pecans too, they are so tasty! One variety I really love is the papershell variety, you can crack those with your hands, they are so easy to shell. Also a good idea is to ask the hardware stores that shell pecans, for the empty shells, it is a good mulch.

  • I have a pair of huge pecan trees in my backyards. The pecans, if you don't pick them up, grow into trees. Every year I have to cut down baby pecan trees; sometimes up to 6 feet tall. The squirrels bury them so I have pecan trees growing out of pots and even one that crew out of a gutter I hadn't cleaned.

The problem with pecans is that the harvest is highly dependent on rain. Some years I'll get almost none and other years I have so many that it sounds like it's hailing.

  • You could probably dig up those baby pecan tress, put them into pots and sell them for some extra cash.

  • You should transplant the baby trees and sell those bad boys.

  • I don't think I've ever had a pecan.

  • soy beans are good to have too

  • just curious... do pecans grow in California or is it more of a southern crop?

  • Im not big on pecans, but I like this guy's videos, I have been wanting to plant a garden to store some food and these videos are pretty interesting.

  • Thats what i grew up on

  • Pecans taste great too.

  • The Trouble with the Tree is that it takes sooooo long to grow into a food source... In Louisiana, the greedy ass worker-people decided to cut down the trees growing in the wild to build crap.... Stupid Greedy Mindless worker-people will have to consume their Headboards I guess when this country collapse.

  • Pecan pie's.. MMMMMMMMM..

  • i prefer poontang pie. MMMMMM

  • @KhmerD0g
