  • Can u turn recorded guitar into sheet music?

  • Editing Jeff Lorber's playing? That's blasphemy!

  • How is P.T8 with guitar score wise & tabbing?

  • how do you connect the guitar to your computer so notes will show up?

  • @drummermahn m-audio interface, I suppose

  • is it possible for m 8 to see a midi piano track but than score CHORDS too on the sheet music?? Curious??

  • It's cool to have this feature in Pro Tools but this score editor is crap compared to the real deal like Sibelius or Finale.

  • Even the cubase score editor is really good!

  • @j03tv i'm a finale user myself. I also run a pro tools studio. You can take the midi notation stuff and run it right into finale and you have a better situation overall for transcription puposes. So, its not all bad. For people like me who need pro tools, but also need great transcription this is very valuable. However, yes having Sibelius and Finale along with PT is optimum.

  • Go with Sibelius, Pro Tools Score Editor is useless.

  • tbh, the score-editor in ProTools sucks, I wish I could import scores from lilypond...

  • Thats pretty awesome, im looking to convert to pro tools, and i think that just did it :-)

  • buy it, whatever u are using right now, deinstall -> burn it -> throw the ashes in the sea -> get pro tools with an mbox or other digidesign hardware

  • HOW MUCH DOES PT8 COST

  • €128,- ex hardware. USE GOOGLE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thanks i know im lazy

  • Can i score my music for my acoustic guitar tracks?

  • HOw do you do slurs and dynamics and articulations in protools 8 ???? where is that function

  • Yeh, there are some reasonable samples in Xpand2 and there are probably some more in Structure Free (I don't know because I have Structure LE). You certainly don't need Garritan or VSL etc. to get a useable sound, but if you want it to sound absolutely authentic you' are going to have to spend a bit more.

  • can you score a full orchestra and record an acoustic guitar on the top and hear it all back? I know that you can with finale.....but I am not sure about this

  • Yes. But you'll need a good orchestra sample library to make it work.

  • Hi,Thanks...but are there any basic orchestral samples e,g strings, brass etc that come with pro tools 8? just to get started and then buy the garritan library later?

  • Nop, Reason comes with *some* decent patches, but I recommend (if you have the cash) Finale, or Syballius (man I spelt that wrong!) for proper decent sounding orchestral sounds.

  • Hi, I have worked with Finale Print Music. But I am not familiar with scoring on PT 8. How do I change the duration of a note? I understand transposing but I can't find the tool to make a note shorter or longer. I have tried the Midi event list. Please help!

  • Try editing the note value itself. Also nudging, duplicating, etc. What the hell do I know.

  • omg that's really just amazing. Damn how much stuff can Digidesign come up with. Now the "note transcribing" thing is really cool. I like that.

  • i still cant figure out how to use the recording music straight to the score editor feature, could anyone help me?

  • i just came in my pants.. by the way i hated the way protools 7 did midi// it was frustrating.. and i use reason and nuendo with no problems.. i hope this is the program i been dreaming about

  • @Captnuendo So, was it?

  • so tight

  • Roll over Beetohvan! Tell Tchikofsky the news!

  • Do we really need Sibelius any more?

  • i've been using protools since 2001 and i'll never use anything else... nuff said

  • right on. long live pro tools.

  • on second thought.. i'd rather use reels and a razorblade :D

    i kid

  • Awesome!!! I heard about score editing of Pro Tools 8. And I was going to ask if you could still export to Sibelius! I like!

  • yeah i think digidesign bought sibelius

  • Oops I totally accidentally hit the spam button on your post! Sorry!

Anyway, I was going to say it's cool that Digidesign bought Sibelius, but then again, maybe not, as Digidesign can be very "You must buy all our gear!!! Rarrgghhh!!!" Haha. I'm very thankful for M-Powered, as I'm a big M-Audio fan, but not so much of the Pro Tools LE hardware. And obviously HD is out of budget for most people! It's all personal preference of course though. :)

  • stop moving forward and fix the problem so i can use protools on vista already

  • You can use Pro Tools on Vista.

It was supported from 7.4 up.

  • @cmead626 is it comp. with windows7??????

  • @Vortex4001 It is still in beta form, but I'm using it without any trouble.

Make sure if you try that you don't use 8.0 only. Install 8.0, do the free update to

That should be all you need to do.

  • @Vortex4001 It cut off the versions. Get the free 8.0.3 update

and the CS2 update. The version will be 8.0.3CS2.

  • @Vortex4001 Yes

  • you should stop using vista. vista is the worst thing ever from Microsoft. XP or a Mac. I've used protools on XP and Vista, and my XP machine thats 5 years old runs rings around my Vista machine. i'm looking at a Mac this year, hopefully :)

  • Vista sucks baaaaaaaaad. I loove pt8!

  • AWESOME!
