just so we are clear, rules state that you can take two steps after you pick up your dribble. Here is the weird part that people let pass. You can take as many steps as you want while in the process of picking up your dribble. The rule matters only when your hand is either under the ball or both hands are on the ball. Only then will the 2 step rule be taken in account
