  • Have you tried throwing it???

  • It is better than mine which cost € 15 and not cut anything. I've stopped serving him and have already lost. This is a good idea and original. With small improvements serves very well.

  • Nice axe

  • Great video and you did a nice job.

If you get an old shovel handle they are usually Hickory and would make a better handle then that 2x4

Also I would finish it with linseed oil as less likely to give you blisters

But again you did a great job on both the axe and video !

  • Nice to see the younger generation taking some interest in bushcraft. keep it up kid!

  • awesome

  • wow, really nice job. can you make me one? lol

  • Hmmmmmm.. boiled it in vinegar ye saaay... nice ideah.. *YOINK!!!

    (Homer Simpson voice)

  • Hammering a Pagan?

  • @halfriceboy hammering a peg in*

  • The largest AXE in the world is now for sale on Ebay, if you would like to see it, go to Ebay, and in the search box, type in: 130569369041, and get it while you can.

  • Nice axe .. Nice and light for easy carry and can't beat the price . DIY! Awesome

  • U NEED TO GET A FRICKEN GIRLFRIEND (i do too but not as bad as u)

  • i dont belive you made that axe

  • Nice axe great job :)

  • Nice axe. The only thing missing is the weight found in all work axes (that's the differeance between axes for war and work axes; the work ones will have extra weight for increased chopping power but less speed.

  • Ballin

  • thats very creative kid... keep up the good work..

  • Can you make a sling shot?oh and don't worry about them.they are just mad they can't get off there lazy asses and do some thing.and yes they are Ass holes with a capital A!

  • did you weld the steel yourself

  • did you weld the steel yourself x

  • hey, would you like to buy a hand forged axe?

  • good job bud

  • Cool ax I like it especially cause u made it your self

  • Awesome work!

  • nice axe. well done

  • not bad

  • god job kid

  • how do u make that

  • This job is probably as good as it can get without welding or forging. I would recommend buying a real axe for safety reasons though because as soon as someone tries to really chop away with this, the blade will fly off.

  • why u hammering peagens?

  • @halodragon98 cause we're racist against pageons XD

  • Nice work would make a good spliting axe, try laying your hands on some hickory for a handle and try and get a knot free bit of timber or the handle will snap under force. Good vid tho cleaver idea

  • CONGRATULATIONS your vidéo is really great !!!!!

  • Why is there so many idiots in this world? Dont listen to these morons kid, there just jelous that they dont have enough courage to get off their rear ends and make something usefull of them selves, theyre to busy on the computer all day making fun of people who actually go and do the stuff they talk about! Great vid, and awsome axe!

  • not bad....;-)

  • nice axe but wher in the middle of no were am i going to find a pice of steel and bolts for a blade

  • Don't you mean a Welding Coupon

  • hey kid your flies open

  • pimp axe i made a slag hammer out of a car batterys

  • my hobbie is making weapons stars knives swords mostly ninjaish weapons.. your axe is an awesome example of back yard weapon crafting.. its effective and cheap so awesome job. oh and the quarter inch on the back.. if your out and need to split a log you can hit the back with a ROCK (there you go all you rock flamers)

  • u suck balls

  • I made one out of a piece of scrap metal & a snow shovel handel, sharpened the metal with a dremmil,& cut a slit down the middle with a saw. Sealed the slit with GorillaGlue, lashed it together. In a weaving style with nylon string, wrapped it over with electric tape & shalacked the tape with GorillaGlue,to preserve the hold of the tape its self.

  • good work kid!!!

  • awsome, nice work kid, keep up the good work god bless

  • great work, very smart idea

  • did you sharpen your piece of steel?

  • hahaha, you look like the singer out of sum41

    nice axe btw

  • I thought that it was pretty cool. I would like to do something like that when I have the time. everyone talking about forging and all that who-nanny crap shut up give the guy props i surly am. Nice work i thought that was a cool Axe

  • where did you get the metal from

  • Very creative.

  • Hey next time consider leaving a little more out the back and heat it up. You should be able to upset the back so it has more surface area to hammer with. Looks good though.

  • That's cheating! Mine is made of slate, and spruce root to hold it together!

  • @laxdan37

Not cheating if i wasen't intending to make that type of axe... Like i have said many times: This is an axe made for doing bushcraft, not made in the bush

  • @laxdan37 I've found bits of metal in the woods that would work well in many situations.

  • @laxdan37 read the title it says 'HOME MADE'

  • Great project, good on you for having a go. I could not have achived that at your age.

  • dude i really like your videos i made a bow after i saw your video and it worked i killed a squirl

  • u shouldnt use weld steel because it is soft and doesnt hold an edge well also if u were using a power tool to sharpen the steel it would have heated it up and sofened it further i mean no offence by da way

  • howd u sharpen it

  • like the axe why not try to bend the metal around the handle and fuse together to make a tomohawk instead of weakin the handle by spliting it i made one and its pretty good

  • @08bowhunter

Plain and simple because i dont have a forge. This is simply a way to make and axe without and special equipment.

  • your talanted

  • Very nice axe!

  • I think it's pretty cool. Good job

  • You did good, I like your axe!

  • Wtf vacca2256 thats a kewl ax

  • I use things that are common like stone fore a blade the only thing is I can't find a stone big enoush for a ax

  • howd u shrpen it

  • wow that axe looks really good...u got talent man!

referring to what some others wrote: u probably dont have access to steel in the wild, but building an axe like that i good practice anyways and if u learn how to make an axe blade out of other metal, which can be found in the "wild" like in an abandoned car/hut/whatever, this piece of skill is gonna come in very handy...

  • you r so freaking smrt and ur weapons r soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo cool

  • did the handle split?

  • I tried this same thing and it worked really well..

  • @vacca2256

I never said i made it in the bush you moron, i was simply showing an axe i made for use while bushcrafting and hiking. I was just sharing some knowledge that anyone can make an axe and how it can be done. If you want a stone axe go make one but don't whine to me about it.

  • @wildernesscraftsman Well then you probably should have mentioned that this video was a bit off topic. Usually you show how to make stuff out of things in the wilderness. Anyway, it was a good video.

  • @wildernesscraftsman well u did have "bushcraft" in the title....

  • @vacca2256 if you aint got nothin nice to say dont say it at all

  • @vacca2256 bushcraft is only on how to sur vive its to make thng from natural materials and yes dumb ass meteal is natual

  • thats a awesome Axe dude

  • Haha, the intro is amazing....priceless. Keep up the good work!

  • Dude! Nice one! Good job ;-)

    -Oz from Canadian Bushcraft

  • wow exellent idea.

  • Hi Jordan, I have just been sent the link to your video. I am surprised I have not seen you before. You have lots of excellent videos on your channel. 5*

  • Jordon,great job 5***** project.

    keep moving forward. thanks

    JC

  • Great job young Bro!

I saw this when you first put it and.. and should have commented on it then.. very impressive work! Keep it up

  • That's really good!!

    Wilson's Wilderness

  • Nice job.

  • you can use scrape lawnmower blades. Aneal them cut out the blanks, shape, sharpen then heat treat, harden and mount.

  • This is the first video that i watched from your channel, you have great skill Jordan.

Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing this wonderful videos.

    MONTERO BUSHCRAFT

  • try rapping it with trout line

  • i made on but all i could find was 16 guage steel. should i harden the steel?

  • @lac365

Hate to say it but 16 gauge steel is MUCH to thin to make even the most light duty axe. Most steels measured by "gauge" are galvanized and therefore should NEVER be heat treated as the zinc fumes will KILL

If i were you i would look for some thicker steel at least 1/4 inch thick for a decent axe

  • how about 1/8 inch steel. it looks the same as the steel you used but thinner

  • @lac365

1/8th inch steel will WORK but i would not recommend it. Its just too thin to make a decent axe. My last recommendation would be to phone some local welding shops and ask if they have any or where they buy theirs

    WildernessCraftsman

  • how long did it last

  • @mrscaryspider

A couple months of heavy use before it split near the bolts, I have since replaced it with oak coated with epoxy which is VERY durable and has held up very well. i recently bought a hults bruks small forest ax so now that one is my main axe however i still us this one for small tasks and when i don't need a larger axe

  • Impressive my man, most impressive!

  • Sure, like I'd be able to find a 2x4 and a piece of steel in the WOODS. lol

I'd figure I'd end up making it out of a stick and a stone with bark twine holding the head on.

  • surely itd be better to buy one

  • why would you test your ax on a harmless little young tree.

  • not bad junior not bad

  • again I whated it to come off more light hearted

    sorry

  • haha I made my knife.

  • @19thepyrochilibean so did i

  • hey you might want to NOT stick your knife and axe into every living thing. also your steel is probably bad. did you heat treat it? and spruce is going to snap soon. also if your axe gets wet you will lose it. good first try though.

  • Im going to make something like that. But I´m going to make a viking style blade and maybe a spike to the back :D btw your axe rulez

  • anyone know where to find cheap steel in the UK?

  • I have seen it at just about any hardware store just check any near you. also google "UK online metal suppliers" you should get a few results!

Remember 1/4 inch thick and 2-4 inches wide!

  • Look for scrap. Spring steel from old pickup trucks. Old circular saw blades (probably a bit small for an ax, but perfect for knives).

  • that's a pretty good axe! dollars to doughnuts it would work better than those cheap chinese pieces of crap you get at the home depot for 25 bucks. i'm sure this has a safer blade too. using that kind of steel you shouldn't have any chunks chipping off during use, AND it probably cost you less than 3 dollars to make it! excellent!

  • i would use a wider blade :D

  • People bitching on this video but this is a very good axe and yea no homedepo but you can use any regular stoen to sharpen it with paciance

  • u should make a how to vid on it. good job tho.

  • i am making one igot the wood i just need the metal

  • wicked cool

  • how did you sharpen it??

  • With an angle grinder and a small air sander, but you could just use a bench grinder and a file for the same result!

    keep the questions coming!

  • thats not a bush axe you cant make it in the bush and there is no homedepot in the bush

  • I meant its a bush craft axe, an axe meant for bush craft

  • yes it does its so cool i tried to many times to make a flint ax can you make a video ?

  • Me make a flint axe? sorry dude i cannot as there is no rocks suitable for making on in my area i can however show how to make a hammer

    thanks for the request

  • how did you make a hole in the metal

  • I used a drill press so the holes were straight but you could use a regular power drill as long as it has a steel boring bit

    Hope that helps!

  • thx your the best better than fred cause you learn somthin

  • were did you get the metal?

  • We just had it sitting around, but i have seen it at home depot if you cant find it there try looking at a metal shop / metal recycling plant
