Not one of them has any idea what "Corporations are People" actually means. It reduces their votes to utter waste, and that the US is headed toward a country run entirely by, not corporations (I've got one of those) but, *huge* corporations who's profits are the only Moral Good they are permitted (by law) to adhere to. The American school system clearly has produced a room full of moms with heads that are empty of useful knowledge. No wonder America is failing -- these are the voters.

Colbert and his writers are brilliant. He is informative in a way that keeps people watching. He points out through satire all that is wrong in the world. Recently he and Stewart pointed out that it is crazy how this candidate-corporation relationship is, and anyone with an education can realize that if this continues, then politicians will represent the biggest corporations, not the people. The people only choose a candidate that is running, who soon must be supported by corporations.

if your business fails and falls into debt those dedts can be taken from your own personnel finances and property

And jmamesful, I know of several corporations consisting of as few as 3 employees. It's not nearly as expensive/difficult as you think.

I basically already said said things, Mr Burger Meister Meister Burger, including that I know several corps with 3 employees and that it's easy to do. Big business (aka large corps) get away with so much more and are protected better than small corporations. Same in any case of wealthy versus any lower class, and middle class gets better treatment than lower class. Just the way it usually is. Which was my point.

Progressive wealth transfers is just a fancy way of taking someone else's money - I hardly call that better treatment. I think there's a disconnect between what people think the phrase "Corporations are people" means. Many seem to explain it as corporations are built upon the shoulders of all the people in it, especially with smaller local corporations. I mean, heck, even I agree with that romantic notion. The problem, and disconnect, is when we then literally give corporations the same rights as people. The people in the larger corporations don't give a rats ass about romantic notions, they can now buy votes.

Um - it's paid out more than it's taken in 13 previous times on a YEARLY basis before in history. It is solvent through 2036 WITHOUT any adjustments made to it. I'd say it looks good, but can be better. It's much more solvent than any of Maddoff's schemes, but you wanna regurgitate what you see or hear on some "news editorial" programs, go right ahead. I prefer cold, hard facts. Social Security was NOT intended to be a part of the budget, but dipping fixed that.

@deadfacewv Execpt SS is part of the budget. The money you think is there until 2036 is essentially US savings bonds. Which means the govt spent that money and promised to pay it back. Which means that money isn't there. It is debt that will have to be paid out of other taxes or from other services. .And since the federal govt is already running huge deficits without paying back those bonds...that doesn't seem solvent to me.

And when you add in medicare & medicaid and look how they have been rising as a percentage of GDP, then look at tax revenue as a percentage of GDP....we are screwed. @izaccy I admit, their attitudes are hard to defend. My own father (who is significantly more conservative than I) watched this video and found the women's stance upsetting.

But the whole event was kind of all over the place. Frank Luntz is a Republican speaker, and it was hard to tell whether he was being supportive or dismissive of Colbert at times. And the event itself was meant as a meet-and-greet for Santorum, so the crowd was certain an evangelical one. But yeah...no laughter at all.
