i don't think that you can rely on figures to tell freddie's story...look how many times he took 3 or 4 important wickets...5 wicket hauls aren't everything. he got three 5 wicket hauls in his test career which i agree isnt a great amount, but he frightened batsmen and like i said, took the important wickets. gameboys2020 is absolutely right, freddie was deadly then and this ashes series, he still won the game at lords with his 5 wickets in an innings which goes to show he still was at the end.
I'd second that, All rounders don't have to hit Centuries or take 5 wickets to leave their mark on the game however more often than not he would take 5 wickets and make 100 runs in a whole match and something to consider is that the start of Flintoffs test career was slow, between 2003-2005 he was a GREAT all rounder and in recent times he's been plagued by injury, never reaching the same level he was then. when he was on song he must've averaged mid-high twenties with ball and 40 with willow

england had many injuries in 06/07. vaughan injured, trecothick ill, etc. but to be honest australia were too good in 06/07. england are too good now just like in 2005. we're 1-0 up even without kp and freddie only 50% fit. face it the aussies are in decline big time.

if you judge players off the back of career stats then you need to find a new sport. they do not tell the whole story, they do not tell you that he was picked way before he was worthy of international cricket, skewing his stats.
at his peak between 03-06 he was scoring his runs at 40 an innings and taking his wickets at 27/28 a wicket.
if you're interested in stats look more into them and don't be so stupid as to be fooled by career stats.
