Yes you can.But since you are just starting,I recomend you to play on survival(at least on normal)so you can really enjoy collecting the resources to make this.Have fun:)

ok guys i figured out why this doesnt work for most of you..

when you have a stop with a button, the minecart should stop at it right? for all of you it stops at the stop but still it doesnt work.. wanna know why?

its because your minecart is moving really fast, then it moves a bit on the powered rails, what u need to do it make the rails a bit more longer so that the cart goes slower =D tara it should work then

I say that before but not many had that problem.Since I made this video the same day the update come out,I didnt perfected it.But is easily made if you just dig 2 blocks and put the powered rails there with a button so serves as a stop and launch for every direction of the track.

If you use all powered rails,is a waste of resources when a single one can increase your travel a lot.

The video editing was done with camtasia 7(and some recorded with that too)and Sony Vegas pro 10.

This is a really good way, thanks alot for this video :D, one update you should do is add a block on the second power rail, because what i found was when i went to a stop it would push me a little to far away from the block and i would have to get out and push me back but with it going up and then down on the second power rail it would push me back on the block and would work again without me having to get out xD.

Thanks for the comment.About the block,it depends on the speed you reach the powered rail.I made this video just when the update come out so is likely to have room for improvement(like doing the stop in a 2 way slope to keep on the same track without having to make the detour or way you suggest).But thanks:)

never use detector rails to activate boosters-in-transit. just place a redstone torch underneath the block that they are on top of. when you run over it, you're boosted no matter what, with no chances of the rail turning off and stoping you in your tracks.

1-Detector use less space since they ocupy the same place of a regular track.

2-the cost is just a stone pressure plate for several.

3-You can avoid people using the track on the other way(if you want).

4-Is a mather of choise and looks cool on complex systems.

I use torches on several places but this is like the powered minecart.If you dont use it it goes to waste.

my cart never turns 90 degrees and perfectly stops at the power rail like at 0:42. It only turns 45 degrees and stays in-between rails. Pressing the button with the cart positioned like so, wont work :C

Gave me some ideas for a more advanced type of station where you link several buttons to both start the track at the station as well as enable/disable turns along the track so you basically can have just 1 button at the starting station for each different route on your track :D

Totally simple and lovely things can be done with these two new track types ^^

I gotta say, this is fascinating. This really is very simple. Using the Railbooster to the max. Using as a brake to stop at a station and to launch the cart to the next station. Amazing what new possibilities the update 1.5 gives us.

THIS... IS... ultra genius in its simplicity. Seriously. There really is no point in following along with the more complicated videos as there's no way to follow along, they don't link to any diagrams, etc.

10x combo multiplier for explaining the principles behind it too. While I already knew, you can't assume that people do, which is what 90% of the video makers do.

And nice production like everyone else says.. gonna have to scope out your other vids.
