I am a Humanist and don't like focusing on bashing religions. I also like the ecumenical intent here. But I'm not sure why so much effort, time, and attention was being spent by Humanists on something so fringe and outlandish. There are far more impacting and significant issues that need attention. If I had been in the area, I probably would not have attended.

part of me feels that if anybody is truly stupid enough to be duped by $cientolgy and its absurdities, then they deserve to be exploited - but the other part of me is far more compassionate and wishes to see the people set free, and the cult smashed apart.

@horsesflu That is a dangerous sentiment for several reasons. But here's one- People duped by Scientology were also duped into destroying the lives of many innocent people who were not scientologists, but spoke against it. It's almost like saying a women who gets beat by her husband & keeps going back to him deserves to get beat- but what about the innocent kids that she will eventually give birth to if we keep that attitude? Point is it's not just people who get "involved" that get hurt.

@lauraleesmithagain if a woman is beat by her husband, and for whatever reason she keeps staying with him, even after multiple assaults, there is an inherent weakness about them. They don't deserve to get beat - nobody does... but there is a certain loathsome, weak quality about them that enables the violence to continue, which makes them partially to blame.

But getting duped by Scientology is just evidence that the person is a retard - exploit them. They're chattel.

I can only guess you did this because it completely knocks your point out of the ballbark so you did what Scientologists do when they can't argue a point- continue repeating the original thing you said that was already debunked. The point was that just like the future children of the women getting beat do not choose to be in that environment yet still have to bear the brunt of it- so it is with people not connected to Scientology.
