Think I could get a sound close to Hum with this? I'm thinking of getting the M-234 because...I just don't like the paint job on this one and it's cheaper in blue.
@astro2069 Guess the figured out people would pay more for a pedal with no graphics on it. I was looking at the M-234 but I found an analog Boss CE-5 and bought it instead. I still might pick up a MXR Micro Chorus though.
@ZakkWyldefan1000 Zakk , unlike a lot of musicians, plays everything he endorses. He even plays his signature epiphone guitars live at almost every gig!
It's so funny. After 20 yrs of playing I'm only now realizing how many of my fav guitarists use chorus heavily. Early on I believed a couple of my heroes when they said they never really used "much" effects. Then you see their pedal board...bullshit you don't!!! Anyhow..time for a chorus pedal.
@gtarluva LOL..so true that many guitar heros have used the chorus of phase in their sound...
I like a chourus pedal over anything else when it comes to coloring because unlike a phase or flager it can actually be left on all the time with sutle differance in tone coloring...I use it at the end of the pedal chain...It fattens up the sound.
If your thinking of getting one check out the MXR analog vs this one...both are great but this one is just a tab bit differant. I own the blue MXR
@InterspeciesErotica7 the black label chorus provides a warmer distortion for both distortion and a clean tone when a boss ce-5 just gives a warm tone to the clean sound and doesnt work as well for chorus but thats just my opinion
@ProGuitarShopDemos i have this pedal and run it through the loop, but most of the demo's on ytube run it straight into the front, and seem to sound much better!! i'm gonna try it in front tonight, but has anyone here got any opinions on the difference between pre and post for this pedal?? or what the pro's and cons are (i'm fairly new to Chorus)
@locolegsharvey If your using a tube amp I'd advise you not to crank up the pedals gain level it might blow your drivers.
You might blow up your tube amp doing this. Any sort of volume increase from a stomp pedal running through the back of the effects loop is asking for serious issues. The effect's loop in the back of a tube amp cuts between the pre amp and power tubes.
If your using a non tube amp by all means go for it...It won't do any damage.
@ProGuitarShopDemos You guys need like a rule sheet for your demos so 10000 people stop asking that. I always run my effects into the front and I'm never unsatisfied. thanks for the great demos PGS
I’ve been using this chorus for a few months and really like it. It really thickens out distorted tones. It can be in your face when running direct or subtle through the effects loop. I prefer the subtle approach for just adding texture. I have a few fancy boutique chorus padels that sound great when playing clean. But none of them look as cool as the Black Label!
Is this pedal really tru-bypass? I thought it was buffered. I'm on the hunt for a good chorus pedal, so if you could answer my question, It wound narrow my search and help me a lot. Thank you, Andy and PGTS for all these demos.
I have this pedal and i have to say you'll never hear a chorus like that a second time in your life! it is waaay better than the Small Clone! You can make your own tone however you want it! my best pedal i have!
I've noticed many analog chorus pedals change your volume when you turn them on and off - and it's most noticeable when you use chorus after distortion. Does this pedal boost/cut volume at all?
Andy man how long does it take to dial in those tones? I mean I would be fooling around for hours trying to get some of the tones you come up with. Andy you are a credit to your people.
I was experementing with this pedal alot and in my opinion its def. not "true bypass". When i put it (switched off) in front of my amp i cant tell the differents between my les paul guitars they all sound equal. Right after that i put it in my fx loop and it then the pedal darkens the sound of my amp. Just by switching the fx loop on and off you can tell the huge loss of treb. frequencys. Is it just my peadle or is it the hole series? BR Felix
hi Andy, great demos as always. Quick question about this pedal, can you hear the loud pop when engaging the pedal or is it silent true bypass? my chorus has true bypass and it's just too loud when I step on it, and if I have the delay on it sounds like fireworks on 4th of July....
@ProGuitarShopDemos what amp/distortion are you using with the les paul? Also can you do a shootout between the black label chorus and the small clone? Im thinking the black label will blow the clone away but it would still be nice to see a comparison since the clone is the 'industry standard'. Thanks much and keep these great demos coming! :)

wow. a $100 analog chorus pedal with true bypass and super tweak-able controls. Basically a dream come true. So why the hell did they have to slap "Zakk Wylde" stuff all over it???
@ChucklesMginty The Graveyard Disciple??? Yeh... It's horrible... even Zakk thinks its fucking ugly, but he says that it is really really comfortable to play it
@ChucklesMginty yeah its ugly, but in one interview he claims his son came up with the design so he made it in honor of him. he also says its comfortable to play
I hate to be a buzz-kill, but doesn't Zakk Wylde use a Boss Super Chorus Ch-1, he also uses a Dunlop Rotovibe to get the lush liquid tone. So why does this pedal even exist? I do not want to upset anyone, but alot of signature pedals tend to be way off the mark, and you can get a Boss CH-1 much cheaper than this pedal. By the way, it was Randy Roads that used a MXR Chorus, not Zakk.
Guitar type/ pick-ups/amp/distortion pedal, nah that doesn't effect sound, pro

@ChucklesMginty The Graveyard Disciple??? Yeh... It's horrible... even Zakk thinks its fucking ugly, but he says that it is really really comfortable to play it

I kinda like it...I thought he used a dif pedal (MXR stereo chourus) But I suppose he had companies comming to him to design his own line.
