Actually, in the end, I figured out I wasn't close to being out of range. Later testing proved that I could fly out to 4km. The glitching happened because I was pointing the RC antenna right at the plane. When it glitched I pointed it a bit offset to deliver a better signal. I know the optimal antenna angle was straight up. So long as it wasn't straight up, I knew I still have range available...Cool huh?
