  • Take your big book and shove it up your ass Bill W.

  • Burn in hell you piece of shit cult leader...

  • Creepy bastard

  • Obviously does not know the definition of a cult. 12 step programs do not fit the requirement.

  • @akas2h They only fit most of it.

  • @kevinfirstnamefinn

What "most of it" do you mean?

I would love to know which ones. Can you tell me?

Thing is it is not a cult. The clip here has taken a lot of what is being said out of context.

Jehovahs Witnesses do the same thing to try and get you to believe what they are saying. Truth is the clip is a lie. To expose the lie you need to understand the context, understand to context you will understand the concept, and see the truth. :)

  • AA IS NOT A CULT YOU IGNORANT BASTARD

  • I'm 100% certain that we will all die one day. If I had to choose between AA and death, I'd choose death. This cult is really unhealthy. Screw you Bill W. If I had a time machine, I'd go back kill you before Hitler.

  • Guess what, Mr. Bill, you'll die if go to AA; you'll die if you don't. You founded AA and you died.

  • AA doesn't work for all but I do respect the people there. I relate to most of the things they say and that book. It gets old hearing about peoples fucked up lives pretty quick but that's just an example of what might happen. I don't think giving yourself to a higher power works when you are your highest power and can't control your drinking. I'm an atheist and this will never work for me lol.

  • AA worked for me! people get so resentful when it doesnt 'work' for them.. they expect it to be some magical end all solution, without putting in any effort. pity.

  • AA worked for me .... my life has never been better...sorry about your luck bud ... must be your bad attitude...better luck next time

  • What a load of bunk. The NIAAA 2001-2002 survey of 43,000 Americans found that 75% -- repeat, 75% -- of those who found long-term sobriety from alcohol dependence did so WITHOUT TREATMENT, OR INVOLVEMENT WITH ANY SUPPORT GROUP whatsoever. Let that sink in a moment: the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of alcoholics who find relief from their addiction do so without any outside help. No "powerlessness," no "one day at a time," no Higher Power for most.

  • @BlatzBeer

    Where did you get that?

I just read the thing and I could not find where it said 75% of those who found long-term soberity did it without treatment or involvement with any support group.

It also says that it was a sub-group of 4,422 males from 43,000 people. It goes on the define the sub-group even more. So any results from this report are not an accurate reflection of a general cross section of the community. I would suggest a more open analysis before stating it as fact

  • @akas2h Find the NIAAA article entitled "Alcoholism Isn't What It Used To Be." You'll eventually find it via Google. It's in the bottom third of the article: "About 75 percent of persons who recover from alcohol dependence do so without seeking any kind of help, including specialty alcohol (rehab) programs and AA."

  • @BlatzBeer

Thanks I will look for it

  • @akas2h From the NIAAA:

"The National Epidemiologic Survey on Alcohol and Related Conditions (NESARC), upon which the articles in this issue of Alcohol Research & Health are based, is a general population survey, that is, a study in which the subjects are a random, representative sample of a larger population..."

..."the sample size is large...results from NESARC are accurate and can be generalized to the larger U.S. population."

  • I've enjoyed the program of AA for years and over those years I've discovered that the people who have contempt for AA are simply frightened that someone will attack their silly egos...

  • @Zoink555 Your comments are just like Australian history books...they dont matter nor does anyone care

  • @Zoink555 Your comments are just like Australian history books...they dont matter

  • @Zoink555 Isnt it passed your bedtime..I dont think your parents would approve of your comments

  • Bill Wilson demanded Whiskey on his death bed. (The nurses didn't give it to him.) A.A. is a sham, and is often worse than nothing.

  • @bill4long I'd only go if I want to feel depressed and want to belong to a Cult!

  • @bill4long So you were there? Or did you read it in a book that cannot prove this?

  • @MAXQ1989 Cheever got it from the hourly logs kept by the nurses who tended Wilson on his deathbed. She got those from the archives at Stepping Stones that had not been closely examined in in many years, if ever. Given that Cheever is very friendly to A.A. I have no reason to doubt her.

  • And when they refer to God, its a higher power greater than ourselves. Not necesarrily the Lord up in heaven.

  • @tgeorge137 Yer pray to your Penis that will work

  • AA isnt a cult...noone is forced to be there and by no means do AA members deam Bill W their savior. The Twelve Steps were designed to allow people to dig deep within themselves and guide them to living a better life. If you havent worked the steps and have just read them, then I dont really believe that you have any say in what they do and dont do. I think if the entire world worked the twelve steps it would bring world peace to be honest.

  • @tgeorge137 it is a fucking Cult!!! You leave and see how many people want to know you out of the bunch. I bet none of them. So fuck you cunt!!! Bring Peace!!! Pigs fucking Arse you fucking redneck american wanker!!!

  • haha AA is so not a cult you eople need to find better things to do with your time and event if it is they don't care if you want anything to do with them or not the only requirement for AA membership is a sincere desire to stop drinking a lot of people don't understand how bad alcoholism really is and AA is not saying that everyone who drinks is an alcoholic AA simply leaves it up to the drinker themself to decide

  • @ballsmain You are so blinded my friend as you have been brain washed. But you will see as in 5 years AA will be gone. All cults also fade away after a few years of exi. I hope for yur sake that you can ask god for mercy in praying to a false prophet as the old man in the vid. condemmed people to sickness and hell.? He is an old fool that drinks and smokes to much!

  • Wow, this is the best and most succinct proof, really, in the "it's a cult" assertion. Thanks for posting!

  • I lived in a homeless hell disconnected from the human experience until I found AA. That was over 5 years ago. I am in college now studying and doing a degree-it feels so good to be involved in life again! The Dalai Lama says that AA is one of the best things to come out of western civilization. I must, as he says in here, follow certain principles. I was psychotic and violent and suicidal when I drank. I am grateful for ANYTHING that got me out of that living hell!!!!

  • @peggygenoway i'm glad you found something that helped you and that you're doing better

  • Yeah, the scientologists will tell you their religion isn't a cult either. And L.Ron Hubbard wasn't a cult leader too! If it looks like a cult ,sounds like a cult and preaches a bunch of dogmatic hogwash, then maybe it's a cult.

  • @somethingdiffereable Have you finished that bottle of Whisky yet?

  • @BLO383 You must have been indoctrinated into the faith healing 12 step cult of AA or one of it's clones!

  • It's religious, all right. It's faith healing. Faith healing doesn't work. That's why it fails for most and the flow of new members is dwindling away. The average length of sobriety is rising, which sounds good until you realize that it's because there are fewer new recruits. This is in spite of a growing population, so the word is spreading. AA is a cult. I was in it, and parroted the same nonsense as the others. I only wish I had left sooner. Now I have a real life with real friends.

  • @dimefeet I know for a fact that aa brainwashed me, Thank GOD. I was so lost in my sickness and the people of aa took me in warts and all and helped me to deal with years of mistakes and fears. They helped me to regain my relationship with Christ and last month I celebrated 15 yrs sobriety. I'm not judging you but would like to ask are you still sober or where you ever. AA has restored so many back to being a productive life and countless families restored. I don't see cult ,I see GRACE

  • Read up on this dude! total phoney and loved LSD while he was the father of AA

  • I came to AA after I ran out of all other options, 3 Psychiatrists, a psychotherapist, 2 family doctors, group therapy and one on one counselling all failed.

With the help of my friends in AA I've managed to stay sober for three years as of today, when I couldn't even manage to quit for a month since the age of 14.

Oh and Bill W is as much my leader as the guy who chaired a meeting last night and the lady who attended her first one the night before.

    The cult comparisons are laughable.

  • @KeyGuy1967 It is laughable. If you quit AA, people will call you hopefully because they are worried about you. They won't call you and make you feel guilty. A cult will do all kinds of tricks. Besides that, why does it feel like a "cult?" Because it's a culture of fellow drunks! It's drunks helping other drunks! I don't care what Bill W or Dr. Bob did or screwed up doing while finding AA -- they never claimed to be Jesus. And if they fail, help them get back up on the horse!

  • hahaha classic

  • I was raised in the christian faith and always believed in the Lord, I could not stay clean and sober until I worked all 12 steps in order. AA is the the only place where people can get the help they need to address their addiction or alcohol problems. I only know it worked or me. I have always beleived in the Lord, it was not until I learned to trust in him that I walked away from drugs and alcohol. Jeremiah 29:11-14

  • @Eddie46981 but i thought it's not relgious?

  • @mdaskal2000 it's not religious, it's spiritual

  • @Stumpyface83 because the founders channeled spirits. Necromancy.

  • @ufozmankato Hahaha--if that was a facetious comment it was pretty funny. If not, you are an ignorant fuckwit and you should educate yourself.

  • @Stumpyface83 Oh ye ignorant soul, research the history. I can for you, you foul mouthed bafoon.

  • @mdaskal2000 its not a religion but spirituality, religion is for people who don't want to go to hell, spirituality is for people who don't want to go back to hell!

  • Gee, just listened to this twice and never heard the words "you die or go to AA". FOLKS, if you want to work the AA program, work the 12 steps. If you want to seek help somewhere else, who are we to tell you that you won't succeed? Good luck!

I'm 56 yrs old, and i've sought help through pretty much everything currently available. for me, nothing was successful, AA included. it wasn't until 2 yrs. ago

that i got and stayed clean and sober..by getting honest and ME working those steps.

  • a god of ur understanding lol......a guy told me in AA once that "god of ur understanding" could be a door nob or a table...what a load of bollox. then again so is god!

  • Cults have leaders not founders and they do not suggest.

  • I do not understand this cult attitude people take to AA. Please listen, it can save your life. I'm shocked and saddened that people would spread ugliness around such a wonderful program with nearly 85 yrs of proof that it works. If your a true alcoholic, it will save your life if you let it. Please dont listen to many here, they are probably still drunk and cant work the program and are blaming AA for thier shortcomings. AA is a life saver, please get help.

  • @nurseypoo5 By AA's own admission the success rate is only about five percent in the program. People who choose to abstain without the help of any program also are successful about five percent of the time. The pop psychology, hidden religious roots (spirituality is not synonymous with god) never ending flow of clichés, and scientific statements that have no roots in true science create huge flaws in the efficacy of this program.

  • are you kidding. AA has saved the lives of thousands if not millions. Its a disease. THIS IS NOT A CULT! You do not have to believe in God, just a higher power who you can admit to and give the disease over too. Its all about helping EACH OTHER, you get help, you help the next, they help you buy helping them and repeat. Its a beautiful program of spirituality, NOT RELIGION. Never religion!!! Please if you need help go, it could save your life and those around you. Blessings.

  • AA saved my life, and I'm living proof with 19 yrs. of sobriety and a changed person.

  • do your research before gog

  • Its funny that people call AA a "Cult". Ive been to a few meetings and have put my dollar in the basket. Never once have I had any alcoholic tell me what I should or should not do with my life. The only reason I only did a few meetings is because they turned into a social gathering of people handing out business cards.

  • sounds like a cult to me.

  • @euroman32589 I LOVE MY CULT!

  • @uptownservice ....yip!!

  • @uptownservice ..i know bud, i know.

  • We mock what we don't understand.

  • "There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance- that principle is contempt prior to investigation." - Herbert Spencer

    (Appendix II p .567)

  • @pkristof692 I don't have contempt for AA prior to investigation. I have contempt for AA as a RESULT of investigation. I've attended over 500 meetings. It's a faith healing cult that promotes learned helplessness and dependence on the cult. One sponsor tried to have sex with me, and we're both male. If that's your thing, fine. It's not mine. Good riddance to AA.

  • @ndrthrdr1 where you forced to go by the court?

  • @uptownservice No, I was clutching at straws in desperation because of the severity of my drinking problem. AA was the only straw I knew of that involved a support group. When I finally found SMARTRecovery, I found the support group that I felt I needed, without the religion and dogma. SMART showed me that I'm not powerless with many, many techniques to deal with cravings and other problems that people like me face.

  • @ndrthrdr1

And with SMART and REBT, you dont have to hope that a magic wizard of your own definition will run your life for you and keep you from drinking.

  • @xtowardsextinctionx Exactly!

  • This man, Bill Wilson, has done so much damage, to so many.

  • @Signof888 you got it all wrong.. way wrong. sounds like you were forced to attend meetings. its just the opposite of what you say..

  • AA is not a cult. I never was forced to to ANYTHING. I just needed a few screwdivers and a Valium 30 min. before the group started. I just could not stand hearing everybody's bullshit. I don't care about wives, kids, or how much you drank. Ive been sober for 10 years. The only step I took was on my own.

  • @ExtremePeppers I WAS forced. and Im not even close to being an alcoholic. Change comes from within, NOT submitting your will to God and believing that you can't do anything on your own. To me, this program is not only a cult, but a very destructive to one's growth as a human being.

  • Turns out Dr. Bob was a Freemason... makes sense.

  • AA saved my family I can never re pay the gift of being taught how to apply the 12 step

Philosophy to my life and the way I think and handle situations!!! Forever grratful

  • @donlapcam HAMMERSLEY1967! That is your only redemtion!!!! Grace be upon thee.....

  • AA is for quitters.

  • The common theme of Religion is to tell you there is only one way to salvation. Follow blindly and without question. This is not why God gave us brains and free will folks. There will always be better ways to do things and God loves us all the same, no matter what.

  • oh MY I only read a few comments.. and Wow.. I will pray for those whom judge others because they dont' understand or believe. AA and CA taught me a way of living.. and I am so blessed to have found it. My children and family thank them too.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow. I never knew what kind of fraud AA was until I happened across some intriguing claims. This must be stopped. This scum preys on the poorly-educated and vulnerable.

  • @seekandwander be careful you sound poorly-educated lol

  • Read the Book Alcoholics Anonymous

  • AA is for people who really need it and have not been successful in their other ventures and attempts.

  • Comment removed

  • Spirituality is so powerful that we did a video about a depressed man who finds home

through spirituality, meditation and helping others .

  • So basically when you have the disease of alcoholism, you need to be rigid in your work to stay sober. Keep with the meetings, stick with your new sober friends. If the group breaks up and you stop going, you could fall back into old habits and your old addictions and those are going to kill you one day. I don't think anything he said sounds like a cult or brainwashing. If you dont like it dont waste your time watching it.

  • greatest 13th stepper and whore monger of all time.

  • BRAINWASH

  • Scientology says the same thing! if u leave u will die. CULT!!! AA also like scientology denys Jesus is the only way. and the have you tell someone you hardly know(sponser) your sex life and everything you have done wrong. many similarities. Sounds like a cult to me.

  • What the program says is basically if you find another way to manage our hats are off to you. If you can't we are happy to share our experience with this. That's it there is nothing more complicated to it than that. Good luck all!!!

  • i think he is ridiculous. He took too much LSD.

  • This comment, which I posted for another AA video is appropriate for you, Hammersley1967: What is dreary, sad and ultimately tragic are the words of people who look at anything aside from the point of the message then attack the message. Talk about nonsense. It's insane behavior. Stop going to AA meetings or listening to AAs expecting to be entertained. Listen to the message if you have the guts, because that means you'll have to look at yourself instead of looking at others and mocking them.

  • @Bootmahoy88 Hammersley1967 is my sponsor. he had anal sex on me when doing my 5th step and it was the greatest moment of my life...

  • @vet725 shuttup you ignoramus, try it before you toss it, AA i mean!

  • @Bootmahoy88 Hammer is my sponsor, in fact HAMMER was bill w's sponsor until bill went out and drank.

so shut yer fucking mouth cos you don't know shizzle cepting talking shit on HAMMER THE AA GOD. are we clear fucktard?

  • shut up i own aa i am the god of you puking drunks.

  • @vet725 BAAAHHHAAAHAAA lol

  • I have been an alcoholic for 12 years. I was a clothing buyer in New York, and lost EVERYTHING. I went to AA, and ultimately found health through medication and counseling. Afet years of physical & verbal abuse, I recovered. I didn't do it through AA..BUT Whatever works, WORKS. People can die a horrible, sad, painful addict death, or get help, however possible. If through AA, more power to them. people who have no life judge. get help however you can. Just stay alive. Whatever it takes.

  • I dont carewhat anyone says. Bill was a great man.

  • True,so true.I have seen it over and over, people leaving AA,starting drinking again and dieing an alcoholic death alone in a furnished apartment.

  • Hammersley1967!!!!!

I WILL SMITE HIM AS HE HATH NEVER BEEN SMOTEN BEFORE!!!

  • @Hammersley1967 Hammer, you clearly have a lead over that idiot Rickroll.. But don't judge us AA members too much!! Sure, some of us worked in the sex trade and don't shower enough, but that's the minority! Just think how you could hook-up Rickroll79 so the poor guy could find the love of his life in AA..

  • @mmlight

    "Rickroll"

    Rickroll?

    RICKROLL!!!!

    THIS IS AN OUTRAGE!!!

HOW VERY, VERY DARE YOU!!! (kind sir...)

  • @mmlight

    "Go to AA or die"

Don't you mean "go to AA and die"...

AA is responsible for the cold blooded murder of tens of millions of innocent alcoholics...

Moreover, it's where you go if you want to die intellectually (not just physically)...

  • Comment removed

  • @Hammersley1967 When grandma says, 'get some help or else sonny' it means catch the buss and go to your local AA meetings. You think she can last forever while you order pizza's and play WOW in her basement?! Try AA, and save your life!

  • @mmlight

"Try AA, and save your life!"

Tried it... It all boils down to a faith based, group think, talk therapy, CBT, technique that's clumsy in ideology and not particularly effective...

(Ever noticed the colossal amount of traffic through "the rooms"? Ever noticed the minor residue of individuals that it "works" for?)

After 15 years of alcoholism, I saved my own arse...

    That was 15½ years ago...

Been sober longer than I drank...

  • @Hammersley1967 Congrats! Now let your little buddy Richcool79 go to AA because he is not as strong as you are.. He needs help!
