I couldn't help but find that absolutely adorable. All the barracuda's I've ever seen were friggen huge so it's nice to know that they were small and young once, too.
@aorolecall Actually numerous tests were done and plants infact can feel pain, and a recent study conducted showed that plants actually feel fear before you cut/tear off a leaf/flower/branch.
As it grows, its tank and feed must too. He'll make the necessary preparations then if he hasn't already. This one should grow to 1.5 meters MAXIMUM, putting its maximum tank dimensions at 2m x 3m x 4m or 600+ gallons. But getting this big will take almost all its 15 year life span (also shortened by being in captivity). Feed will get bigger and more expensive as it grows.
Goldfish, Shrimp, Baby Koi, Pinkys, Rat Pups, Grown Koi, Mice, Rats, Live Trout, Rabbits, then Piglets.
@aliahaliah Barracudas are delicious! I like to fry them and serve them with yellow or white rice and vegetables. It is very nutritious and healthy!!!
Hi I just bought a rocket gar at 5 inches almost a week ago and he ate some shrimp on the second day I bought him, them a feeder on like the 3rd or 4th, and now nothing. All he seems to do is charge at the glass like hes stressed or retarded or something.
@carsondaswampdweller sometimes people don't empathize with their animals enough. when you're new it takes a while to feel comfortable, so have patience. if you're full or don't like your food; you wont eat. try different TYPES of feeders. if your air isnt clean you might act strangely. so check the temperature and pH of the water to be sure it's ok for your gar. if its light all the time you can't sleep. if its dark all the time you cant see. make sure you give your gar both light and dark.
@carsondaswampdweller I had some trouble with my half-beak doing the same thing. The thing is, if its a male, it is charging at the glass, seeing his own reflection and thinking it's a rival gar intruding on his territory.
@animalloveratp why do you do this to people? it doesnt matter WHERE that barracuda was it would have eaten that fish weather it grew up in a tank or in the great barrier reef. all you tree-hugging, soy-pushing, carrot-fucking, melba-toast-munching, tofu-jiggling retards need to just lay the fuck off and let people do their own thing.
@animalloveratp Mhm, so this is evil huh? How exactly is it evil? Its a barracuda, which happens to be carnivorous, eating another fish, which is what would happen in nature, along side the fact that a barracuda needs larger food the bigger it gets, so fish food ain't gonna cut it. 'Oh but he put it on the internet.' Yeah, so what? The title said it all, so why did you click on it? 'He didn't give the goldfish a chance.' Do you think that goldfish(0.85 mph) could out swim a barracuda(27 mph)?
you are right, but that is a rare case of when a salt water animal has adapted to survive in freshwater for long periods of time. when bullsharks make it to adulthood, most of them head out to the ocean since its more ideal for them. the bullshark is still considered a marine shark. fresh water sharks are all minnow-like, the rainbow/red tail shark for example, or related to catfish, like iridescent sharks and paroon sharks. none of those have sharp teeth.
actually bennovitz is right. if the 3 fish you have are freshwater than they are guaranteed to not be actual barracudas. we just nickname them as "freshwater cudas". but more than one species are called fresh cudas, the whole Acestro family are also called cudas, and so are chorros. certain pikes too. like this one here. all freshwater "substitutes" for owning an actual cuda (which grows over 6 feet... so obviously impossible to house for its whole life unless ur rich)
It's not a true barracuda it's from South America and is found in the Amazon River. It's freshwater and is not rare in the aquarist hobby and only get's around 9 in. or so.
if you got redbelly piranhas, its their nature to be scavengers and eat dead fish. Barracudas and their relatives are different and only eat moving prey. its just in their instinct. they will refuse pellets and inanimate food up until the point that they die so trust me, you don't want to do that to this beautiful fish.
