  • thank you!!

  • @JenerationNation You're more than welcome!

  • What kind of sling are you using

  • @GregEScott MagPum MS2...I think it could be a better sling but it works fine.

  • a thought... those groves may have been the spots to stamp the nut to the ring. You had it right I'm sure

  • your castle nut was on backwards. The groves that you have faceing the reciever are suposed to face teh stock and thats whats use to tighten it with. Sorry to mention it, thought it would be easier next time. Great info! I'm learning myself.Where did you get the left right safety?

  • @dnahoghunter DPMS sells it. I love it!! Just use some lock tite on the screw to hold the right catch on and you're gold.

  • what are the differences between a commercial and a mil-spec buffer tube?

  • @Sashalexandros The commercial has a thicker wall and needs a 'commercial' stock. The mil-spec is slightly thinner but is rigid enough.

  • @ammosmith thanks

  • @Sashalexandros Anytime :-)

  • great video. I have not yet assembled a weapon but i am very interested. would you suggest starting with an AR-15? which weapon would be good to start with? or can any weapon be assembled properly with enough directions?

  • @jbc7771 Go with the AR15. You only need about 3 tools to build one. Anything else you need a machine shop practically.

  • Hey man great video. I was wondering for tools all you need is a brass hammer and a set of brass punches and a stock wrench. After you have that you are all set right?

  • @TIG2MAN0 Pretty much. The brass hammer isn't needed. It all goes together like Leggos.

  • I think I just leveled up.

  • What type of forearm grips were you using for this build?

  • @cmahrb2 why would you need grips for your forearms?

  • @joeratti To protect the rail from damage.

  • Question, why not just use a real mag in a vice?

  • @RuthlessZabusa The vise block is solid a d won't deform under the torque of a wrench. If you're just putting on small parts you can use a mag.

  • @ammosmith What if you were to load it with dummy rounds?

  • @RuthlessZabusa you would still squish it or bend it. The strength is in the walls of the mag. In that case use some wood.

  • I am not saying this to run you down or degrade you. I have built close to 50 AR's and their are always little idiosyncrasies that arise while building these rifles. A person is looking for total reliability. Things will not getter better, only worse with time and use. Your build looks fine and you did take your time and I am glad it shoots well. By the way, I want to thank you for your service to our country, I very much appreciate it. In the future you might think about a build from scratch.

  • I can see this is one of your first AR15 lower builds. Build was shallow and should have been started with a bare lower receiver. Many other situations arrive when putting together a lower from the very start. Might be best you stick with ammo. You are good at that.

  • @copyrman08 The rifle shoots like a dream.

  • Ammo, did you put the castle nut on backwards? I think so. The castles should face toward the rear. I doubt it matters though.

  • @YTMegiddo Nope you are correct! I have it backwards.

  • @YTMegiddo It wouldn't surprise me if it were backwards. At least the AR15 isn't like the M60E33...several parts can be installed backwards and the thing won't work.

  • @YTMegiddo Either way is ok. If you stake it, the nut notches should face the stock or aft. With it aft its also easier to get a wrench on it.

  • Where can I get a fake clip to lock in my vise? Thanks for the vid, very nice!

  • @MrCHeath31 MidwayUSA sells them and so does Brownells.

  • excellent vid series! only if i had the time and money!

  • @sw8741 Thank you very much. I was planning this for over a year. It's feasible to get parts one at a time and when you have them all you can assemble the rifle.

  • What sling is that?

  • @cmnspwr Magpul MS2 sling. It's pretty good actually but I wish they made it a little wider.

  • You are mostly correct,

It is a lego set that WILL blow up if the headspace is incorrect.

You did not address the bolt carrier group in your upper video, imho the most important in the whole construction,

It is ok to lose a pin or damage a part, however a blown up gun is several destroyed parts.

  • @themightyparthos The Daniel Defense barrel is headspaced at the factory. The rifle functions flawlessly. The only time you need a special bolt and barrel are from Krieger or Lilja whare they sell them as a set with minimum tolerances.

  • @ammosmith

    That rocks then!

My bad and thanks for the education!

I guess maybe i should look beyond milspec every now and then.

I prefer my ar wep systems plain jane, i never cared much for all of the bolt ons.

Kinda hate change, lol in more than one way!! lol

  • @themightyparthos Most people buy the BCG already assembled.

Also, headspace is dictated by the barrel extension, which is installed by the barrel manufacturer. A new barrel should be good to go right out of the box. (You can't drill the gas port without setting the barrel extension) If it's off, whoever made the barrel screwed up. I would check the headspace in an old barrel if you're trying to fit it to a new bolt though, and if it's bad, the cure is a new barrel.

  • Nice build..... : )

  • Thumbs up if this video helps making building your AR15 easier!

  • I didn't use the lower receiver block, but I wish I would have. It would have made it TONS easier.

  • @thebudgetarmory1 It's like another pair of hands...

  • Do you not have to worry about headspace or is this not the case for ar15s. For my new .260 rem bolt action they had to mill it a bit and check using go and no go.

  • @detectiveinspekta The barrel is headspaced already.

  • Really thought both the lower and upper would have been tougher when I built mine. You are right.... Legos. Takes an idiot to truley mess both an upper and lower build.

  • @shaunpisk Like cooking spaghetti...hard to mess up.

  • Nice vid! Keep it coming.

The "key" is the most irritating piece that I had to fit when I built my AR.

  • Great video, thanks for the help. Looks like beautiful country out there.

  • cool video, very detailed

  • Very nice build.

  • That's not nearly as bad as I thought. Building one of these looks like fun.

  • @rrl55 So easy a caveman (like me) can do it.

  • Hah, when you put the ASAP on I thinking "oh no, oh no! He forgot the key!" But I should not have doubted. I ike your setup a lot, thanks for doing these videos.

  • Man it's funny, I just shot a build video yesterday and my setup is very similar to yours. Same stock, AFG grip, I used LaRue 12.0 quad rails and a Rainier Arms 16" barrel. Great series, very well done.

  • Nice rifle. Looks expensive.

  • @rrl55 Not too bad actually. I got all the parts on sale and it wasm about $900 total including the trigger.
