  • I would rather hear a low quality recording on youtube that sounds great then one run direct cause you know it'll blow your mind when you're the real deal

  • the dry signal in the emt is clearer the plug seems hid the dry signal bit

  • this video's audio is mono rather and plugging in the stereo output of the desk into the camera or an external recorder?????? Muppets!!!!

  • That piano passage sounds awesome can I buy the track ?

  • For me the EMT and Echoplate stole the show here. I thought the Echoplate came off in this vid but I'm a great fan of EMT so it probably depends on the situation. The Bricasti beats most of the comparable competition but compared to the real plates the vocal seemed to fall into the background whereas with the EMT and Echoplate the vocal was always upfront.

  • whats that song played on the piano??

  • i cant stand video reviews gear that get reviewed by a shitty mic and not a line in, it almost a pointless review i can not hear the clarity and i can not hear how good it is.

  • EMT 140 the best...but to heavy...100 kg...you can get them cheap in Germany...

  • Would be really interested to hear the Bricasti with the top rolled off as its hard to see the similarity between all three. The echo plate seems to modulate much more than the others too?

  • the real plates sound like thick cream with really cool ghostly sounds arising, and slightly dirty and "uneven". the Bricasti, like most digital stuff, is so clean and normal and almost like a pair of new shiny shoes.

Matt, I love you, but the sound difference is huge between the old gear and the digital. x Gordon Raphael (sound tweaker, and fan of analog gear)

  • EMT is indeed sounding better in this example but you can make M7 to sound exactly like this by editing lo pass filter and eq.

  • If you listen really well you can tell that the Bricasti levels were up slightly higher than the others---which will easily cause a huge disparity in comparing the results. The levels should have been matched better. I think the comparison itself would have been much closer had this been done. With the way the results were presented here, you heard more of the bricasti causing the perception to be that the M7 is working harder to emulate the original. You may want to redo this comparison.

  • Wow the EMT is incredible even through my shit laptop speakers.

  • That EMT sounded superb.

Much easier to fit some M7s in my studio though!

  • I sure am curious to hear the rest of "Daddy Never Cursed Your Name".

  • Hmmm. Problem here is presence. You want reverb, but also a tactile sense of the voice. That kinda plate hides all of that. Or, the mix of where the reverb sits as opposed to the source is not apparent in this demo. Plus, just too much reverb plate either emt or otherwise. But, you gave me stuff to think about.

  • The Bricasti sounds amazing to me... Too bad they are so expensive.

  • Emt Hands down!!

  • the emt sounds so much richer and natural its perfect

  • another studio tan on "matt"

  • EMT sounds fit.. I use a 240 Goldfoil often..

    Deeeeeeeelish

  • The Bricasti is known to lack at plates. They know this and are working to improve the plates. But the EMT is original and it sounds amazing.

  • Wow, the real plates sound soo much better it's ridiculous.

  • I agree, wierd.

  • @panfart fuck digital.

  • @panfart Yeah even with sucky gearwire 360p quality

  • thanks for your informative demo. it sounds fantastic even through the youtube low quality audio stream.

  • Sounds fabulous. That piano sounds great as well.
