  • It's amazing what nine minutes and six seconds can do!!!!!!!!

  • Night at the rothbury

  • Dave Fucking Genius Matthews

  • No. No. Dave Fucking Matthews.

  • @prabs1976 look up so damn lucky from citi field. It might change your mind.

  • @Dannyyankou Wow you are it changed my mind thanks.

  • @Dannyyankou I have to disagree. I've never heard a better outro

  • I'm not going to jump on here and say I've heard them all... but this is by far and away the best SDL I've ever heard. Hell, even one of the best songs DMB has ever recorded and I started following them when they were playing at TRAX and the Flood Zone in C-Ville. DMB played at my prom if that tells you how small they were back in the day...

  • God Tim Reynolds is amazing.

  • No. Dave Fuckin Matthews!

  • amazing................what a minute can do

  • Heard almost all of them and this is #1. By far.

  • Heard almost all of them and this is #1. By far.

  • Best version of So Damn Lucky that I have ever heard.

  • D-fuckin-M-fuckin-B

  • David Fuckin Matthews?

  • the people that got doody dumped on their heads didn't feel 'so damn lucky'

  • Saw them play this at Alpine '08, amazing fucking show, Dancing Nancies opener, this was 4th or 5th song, and they even played Spoon! Later on, Halloween....mind blowing!!!

  • i saw them at va beach two days ago and it was legendary but they didn't play this, it was the only thing they were missing ):

  • hell yeahh! i was at this show and it was so amazing. encore of gravedigger. doesnt get better than dmb. they are all the best!

  • Your fucking face.

  • The electric adds a ton to this...

  • rothhhburyyy ♥

  • Carter um batera virtuoso e com persolnalidade...Música sensacional!! Dave Matthews Band banda favorita...Toca todos os ritmos, vangarda!!!

  • Close. Dave Fuckin' Matthews Band.

  • carter is the best drummer out there hands down

  • I was at this show! It was phenomenal! The only Rothbury I went to.

  • sure Dave, just forget about Tim Reynolds

  • Just had the pleasure of seeing this live at Camden 9/19/09 it was amazing.

  • I was at the first Camden show, as well. Breathtaking!

  • @Kovacs010 U Lucky thing

  • Dave fuckin mathews fuckin band

  • wheres rothbury?

cuz they got a hellofa show

  • Michigan

  • its a music festival

  • @drinkr247 Love to see him live

  • I hate screaming in music. Dave makes music out of a scream. How anyone can dislike this in any way is beyond me. The most emotional, creative band I've ever had the pleasure of being a fan of.

  • Does anyone know if they are going to release this show on CD? I think this is probably one of his best shows in the past 5 years!

  • It was indeed!!

You should check out Dave's solo album Some Devil. That's where you can find So damn Lucky.

Further more you should listen to the LiveTraxx albums for DMB effort versions. Don't think they will ever record it again for a new studio album. Do you?

    Would be nice though, lol!

  • Tim Fuckin Reynolds

  • When i went to see them last year that was the first thing i texted...those exact words. This year at fenway was no different. :)

  • No. Carter fucking Beauford.

  • Fuckin Reynolds Tim

  • mile high fest was a better performance

  • i agree

  • I could only hope that they come here and play here. But at least I have youtube for these great performances.

  • phenominal

  • This is fantastic, very tight stuff, the drumming on the album is better though, loving the violin here, splurge x x

  • No way is Brady better than Carter.

    You are deaf.

  • I agree. Carter is a god. Everyone in this band are masters of what they do. It's incredible.

  • Two totally different drummers. Carter is a little busy on this song (in general, my only complaint with Carter), so I could see how someone would think the album is better. The studio version is more straight-ahead, and sometimes simpler is superior.

  • there was so much emotion the night dave sang this song at staples...the night LM died.

  • why do you gotta say LM i think he deserves more than his initials

  • Does anyone know when/if a live dvd of this or rothbury in general is going to be released? This is the greatest DMB concert to date in my humble opinion

  • mikehorn its def on a cd, i have it. i forgot what album it is but its a live one. its in the car

  • ah, if you find out let me know, I have DMB Live Trax Vol. 6 & Vol. 13; its not on those.

  • The studio version is on Dave's solo album "Some Devil." The live versions possess more emotion though. Rothbury and Live at Mile High have great versions of this song.

  • Why isn't this on a CD?! Is there anywhere to download his Rothbury concert?

  • unreal...

  • This is such a depressing song to me but I can't stop listening to it cuz it's so damn awesome.

It's DMB so they somehow have the ability to make a depressing song awesome.

(and do a live fadeout lol)

  • they and led zeppelin do that so well.

    making sad songs somehow uplifting.

  • These are almost the same words i wrote earlier this week about DMB when i posted a video of theirs on my page. DMB has this ability to make powerful, amazing, uplifting, blow your mind songs about sad subjects/matters. They pull it off so well over & over again. It's one of the things that drew me to them.

  • damn!!! this chicken is good!!!!

  • haha i loved radio city!!!

  • im with rickdmb41

  • obispo96 - please in all do respect , go to a gig then talk about Dave, either your in or out .

    Peace

  • PERFECT. see you around bro.

  • That was the best DMB show I have ever been to. And afterwards walking through Sherwood forest to see quite possibly the best STS9 show ever was just absolutely magical. It doesn't get much better than that. Sure he may be too 'mainstream' for some people, but damn if Dave doesnt put on one hell of a performance :)

  • exactly, the forest starts pulsing with sts9 as soon as dave ends and like moths to a flame everyone ventured through the woods to the beat of the best sts9 show I've been to

  • To be honest, and not meaning to offend, what attracts me to this band is the collection of amazing musicians Dave manages to surround himself with. Dave is also a great songwriter. But as a vocalist...not that great and I could do without the screaming. I wish the band would do more jamming with less vocals. IMHO

  • Its almost the opposite to me, while I love the other musicians, the thing that gets me is dave's voice/guitar, and my favorite of his songs are the ones he just lets loose on and screams. You would have loved the last show I went too of his, it was at the Gorge Ampitheatre in Washington, Dave was losing his voice and so a good portion of the concert was extremely long jam sessions from all the other musicians. Tim Reynolds also solo'ed with his teeth during all along the watchtower!

  • I think dave has an amazing voice. its unique

  • People will only realise how great this is when this band is long gone. Musicially everybody on that stage is a genious. Good bands are plenty, great bands are few but this is absolute genious!!

  • this song is unreal...words can't describe how great it is

  • the scream from dave 5:55 to 6:10 is beautiful

  • Thank you for this!! It really is a great song..

  • in my opinion i think dave is amazing all around but i think mile high's so damn lucky outro is better then this one. I think when dave screams in this one back to back like three times is sick but mile high is better in my book. Ca;t wait for that summer tour Two nights in Alpine two nights in Nobelsville and my hometown First Midwest Amplitheatre is going to be a sick summer tour. Let me know how you guys feel about mile high or this one.

  • my new favorite DMB song. lyrics are amazing. love the guitar hook

  • Comment removed

  • 5:35 - 5:45 is probably one of my favorite vocal fills of all time. It's so unusual and beautiful. This performance almost makes me tear up. Chills, man.

  • sorry man but really? i know what you mean about chills cause i get them all the time listening to dave but that wail is not what gets me haha

  • Well, not really the wail. The unusual sounding vocal afterwards. It's just unconventional and great. I just Love music like that. Stuff I haven't heard before.

  • DAMN!!! I'm used to the acoustic Dave and Tim performance. This is so different but it's incredible!

  • 2:31 carter goes crosshand... never saw that before

  • wow...that outro.

  • so powerful! bloody great.. It will be on the next live trax vol 14. Love you Davie!!

  • this is the best rendition of this song imho...i wish they'd release it on a live trax or something.

  • "everythings different with my head in the clouds" i love that line

  • when tim plays with the band he adds a new element and that element kicks ass

  • everythings different........so good

  • This song sounds fantastic with the band/ timmy. With timmy playing with the band, there is a totally new feel to all of the music they play. Amazing.

  • wow dave is havein the best time of his life out there. It doesnt get much better than this

  • im really happy they play this song so often recently, as a band i mean. the finish is just amazing.

    no words

  • Great concert, hey sjuhawks21 how did u get these videos. There really good and can you get more from rothbury

  • no kidding!...whatever ever happened to that dude gargamel from the smurfs anyway? i heard azriel was bi, BTW!...

  • who is azriel?

  • azriel was gargamel's pet cat..regarding my original comment, I was very drunk when I wrote it and it is nothing but utter nonsense. hope you enjoy the killer dmb video!

  • that outro gave me fucking goosebumps..i wish i was there

  • i wish i was lucky!!! we would all be lucky if the new world order would die!!!! and we can have are world given back to us down with the illuminti!!! im so damn lucky i can see it i have awoken no more asleep oh my god wait and see what would become of me...dizzy from all this spining

  • this song is so awsome epic!!! when did he write this song? he looks lilke he really enjoys doing it!

  • chords to the outro of the song anyone?

this song is so amazing i wanted to cry when they played it in phoenix...greatest moment of my life

  • They're so good!

  • that..was...AMAZING

  • The Guitar at the end from tim renolds is amazing

  • I was front row dead center for this show and it is easily one of the best nights of my life

  • agreed. I about killed myself trying to touch that giant orange ball!!!

  • YOU ARE LUCKY

    This concert was amazing

ive seen it over and over

I only wish i could have gone

I live in atlanta so i can catch piedmont park which was amazing

  • omg this was such an awesome show wow i cant believe this its got to be one of the most shocking performance it looked so well laid out the outro....wow the lights and everything...this performance just took this song to a whole nother level

  • i was in the fifth row crapping my pants at this point

  • hahahahahaha LOVE IT! JEALOUS! :D

  • true love

  • anybody know the chord progression for the outro?

im just too lazy to figure it out, and by lazy i mean work 40 hour weeks and go to school monday through friday at night..

  • try E G# A D D/C#

  • yeah that progression is absolutely right

  • best outtro ever

  • i cannot get enough. 4:18 ON

  • this show was bad ass, good enough for live release, I mean it's a great set, I'd pay just to get this song though(timmy, flyin' V, so damn lucky, carter, dave screamin', bad ass!)

  • i can send you so damn lucky live from rothbury if you want it

  • will somebody please give me tabs for that little solo tim reynolds does?

  • I am a naughty? ho! q

  • I was there.

  • me too...

    was unreal...

  • these guys are good

  • good is an understatement, more like unbelieveably extra ordinarilly awesome. but yes they are good lol :>

  • dave makes me WEAK in the KNEES when he raises his eyebrow like that.

  • hahahaha, girls love him and guys want to be him...I love him too, I've never been as HIGH as I was when I was actaully sober and saw DMB play this, it put me in a trance...I didn't care about talking to the girls standing next to me at the show, or the booze and weed being passed around. I didn't want to miss a single note of any song, espeacailly when I saw timmy with that flyin-V.

  • i just saw the tim and dave show in Richmond, and I could not agree with the feeling any more. A grin was on my face straight through the show.

  • I love how dave laughs at the noises timmy's makin' at 2:20, you can read his expressions all the time..that expression was like "hey that was freakin' cool" I like how dave looks surprised sometimes at good the band really is live and how spontaneuos they are.

  • they did this in NC july 2nd, timmy broke out with the flyin' V, freakin' amazing.

  • that was a great show.

  • you were there? where were you sitting?

  • i was sitting in the row that was just a row away from the rain shelter. pretty good seats.

  • I wasn't far behind you...I was right smack in the middle too, right on the aisle, perfect for when me my and friend were going nuts to cornbread

  • I heard this jam in VA beach Tim reynolds was awesome

  • It's hard to accurately describe Carter's style, but 1:11 could pretty much sum it up.

  • Wow this is the best SDL EVER!!!!!!

    I love you DMB

  • Dave looks so fucking sexy I could eat him.

  • great addition to their repertoire of jams.. they jammed this up and down for like 10 minutes night 2 of Mansfield.. rain drops going up in the background, goosebump/make out with a stranger sorta stuff

  • I have to say, this is my favorite song. Real meaning and I really just don't know how to explain it but, touching, darker thoughts, but I would have to say the best song they play.

  • wow is all i can say...just unreal...i wish they would have played this version in Toronto when they were here

  • It kills me that I wasn't @ Rothberry makes me sad about Roi

  • scottking- this song is about a car accident. haunting isn't it. Listen...

  • I swear I cried during this song at my concert, Tim's solo is so beautiful. They get more amazing every year

  • they played this at the gorge... and now im a better person. beautiful song

  • best so damn lucky ever!

  • One of the best shows i saw at rothbury first time ive seen dave and it was really great or mamby i was just rollin and trippppping balls

  • Stupid Question... Whats the actuall meanings of this song? Is it a literal accident or metephorically representation of ??

  • it is a song about counting your blessings. Listent to Dave and Tim at Radio City. How sick is the end jam!!!

  • LOL...no stupid questions my friend! I think it is more metaphorical.

  • from what i have heard in interviews it is about a car accident and counting your blessings.. if you listen to the lyrics "i hit this corner with my foot on the gass. i started sliding"

  • like others have said its not about an actual car accident... its just about how life goes so fast sometimes that you don't even really have time to look up before everything changes. its metaphorical. absolutly beautiful song! we go to the gorge every year and if you want to get the real experience you have to camp out all weekend. beautiful song! so inspiring

  • i WILL LOVE TO SING WITH YOU BRO...

  • ANYTIME!!!! Are you going to MSG?

  • I saw this in Hartford...it was good but they hadn't extended the ending yet. I saw it in Mansfield a few weeks later. I could not stop bouncing. It was as close to a religious experience as I have ever had.The notes Dave was hitting were immaculate. Plus, the band put so much intensity behind it. I'm getting goosbumps just flashing back. We will never forget you LeRoi!

  • flood1158, you make me feel better about myself

  • thats about what I though Flood1158...just so you know, you now look like a dumbass to the YouTube world.

  • RIP LeRoi...it wont be the same without you...

  • Are you really that stupid? Or can you just not read?

  • There was hands down down no more euphoric moment in my life than hearing that song live for the first time this summer

  • goooooseee bumps

  • everyone said how cool the jam at the end was so i didnt watch this until i had seen it live cuz i didnt want to ruin it. And it KICKS ASS

  • 90 times? Considering Trouble/Stay or Leave/Dodo/So damn lucky are pretty much the best songs they have put out in five+ years, it's fine with me. They have stopped playing AB intro/American Baby/Dream girl etc...

  • american baby is a sick song too

  • how many times has dave played this song on this tour like 90+?

  • he probably loves it!i know i do. I saw him in mansfield mass and he played it both nights i was happy

  • ya i was there. im a big fan but hadnt heard this song until the show for some reason. it stood out as the best song of the night

  • I was at Mansfield the second night. I couldn"t stop bouncing off my seat!

  • i love drugs

  • That show was amazing.

  • tim can do anything. he can make this song unbelievable. this was far from one of my favorite dave songs, but with the added element it is unreal. to all my fellow rothbury goers, i miss you all a great deal and im glad we had such a great weekend.

    GET WELL SOON LEROI!!!!!!!!!!

  • this is the best version i've ever heard. he did this at riverbend a few nights ago. it absolutely blew me away. tim should deffinitely stay with dmb.

  • True, Timmy def. gives them some new options, and with Butch leaving the band it was a good time to get another guitar player.

  • You can tell Tim has really opened up a lot of doors... they're doing all sorts of stuff that they couldn't have done before...

  • I couldn't agree with you more. I think this is the best they have ever sounded. I was blessed enough to have seen this version with LeRoi.

  • It's a deep loss having LeRoi gone... I wish I was in your shoes! I've never been able to see the band in person, and now Roi's no longer here.

    Lovin the covers too!

  • What a sick version of this song, I saw them do this in Charleston on the fourth of july and they didn't do the whole last five minute jam part, just solid playing from everybody in the band! and I don't think Leroy will have to look for a new job when he gets back.
