I sho' nuff woke up early this morning and this song popped in my head. So I say yes Lord, I hear your voice and I will "Hold On" just a little while longer! Thank you for posting this video. God Bless You!!
calvin mcnair was a wonderful young man he and his family lived right across the street from me,and the whole family was always singing and smiling .rip calvin
Man this reminds me of going to "Singings" with my dad and his buddies when i was a young kid in Eastern, North Carolina. We would go and see these groups along with other local groups. Those were definitely the good old days!
this is gospel music not that mess that we have out now like that dancin stuff kirk franklin have out or jay moss have they need to stop that stuff sayin that they tryin to get youngfolks involved if thats what it takes then they need to just pray for them
I love this group...when i first started playing the drums I played with them at a small church here in Florida...I was so nervous because I didnt have any experience playing the drums...I thank God for giving me that opportunity..We need more of this kind of singing!!!! alot of the music today sounds too much like the world!!!!
This lead singer is my Pastor's brother. Plus, The Sensational Nightengales came to my church last Saturday night (3-15-08). They put on a concert at my church. We were truly blessed.
This is the stuff, even though I am only 21 years old, that I grew up hearing my parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins sing. This is what made me who I am today! I love you Pop Pop and miss you alot!
Wow Mike.. everytime I see Mr Joe Wallace play that Guitar, it reminds me of "Gospel Joe" My Dad brought me up on this stuff and in turn I did we did the same with you.
Yeah, I miss my Dad everyday and everytime I
pick my Bass up in my hand I feel His spirit down on the inside of me. We will always have his spirit within us Mike.
The Nightingales, ain't nothin but the Holy Ghost anointed truth.... Hands down...

I had the chance to share the stage and even play for these great gentlemen and this is the truth... they live what they sing!!! In the industry so many aren't living what they sing and I've seen it for 10 years first hand. Thank you for how you live on and off the stage Nightingales.
JoJo Wallace Has been with the Gales 61 yr, Sug Thompson Been with the group 45yr the newest member, Larry Moore replace Brother Woodruff, Back In 97 an darly luster replace McNair
The only "orginal" members left are the two guitar players. I believe the lead singer (Calvert) died first then Mr. Woodruff back in 99 or 2000. This is not the original group that got things started from the ground. This group of men have been the lineup for the Nightingales for years. They are still singing today with some new additions, but when you think of the group from Durham, NC you usually think of the four men in the video above.
Sorry, don't want to forget Charles Johnson. He was in there for a good little while. I believe he actually sung this song with the group when they recorded it. He left the group back some time ago and started his own group called the Revivers. Then it was just the four above.
gospel is my favorite music. i am really a williams brothers nbr 1 fan. but after ordering this video and really llistening to calvert mcnair, . i have really learned to appreciate good sincere to the heart gospel singing. i would highly recommend the complete videos of any of the nightingales. i have the entire collection and am pleasantly pleased with them all. this is just good enjoyable true to the heart gospel singing. no screaming, yelling and shouting. so so sincere. very heartfelt

I grew up identifying with that big powerful
lion voice of Rev. Julius Cheeks. I thought he was the Sensational Nightingales.
