  • My god, method shaving looks like it is designed to complicate a rather simple, straightforward process in addition to creating a much greater dependence on *specific* "product". This looks like nirvana for people who aren't as interested in getting a smooth face as much as the extra complication of getting it which probably meets some psychological payoff of complexity = good. Isn't that type of thinking how we get to a 5 blade vibrating cartridge system? To each his own I guess!

  • Can you talk a bit at some point about why Enchante insists on three different products to form lather? I assume they have reasons, but a part of me is skeptical that this is just a ploy to get consumers to spend more money. Why not integrate these components into a single product?

  • This looks like so much messy work.

  • @shavefan12 yeah this is ridiculous and unnecessary..and a huge waste of good soap..

  • i was considering this process of shaving but after seeing how long and how many steps, i seriously doubt it now.

  • Dear Sir

how would you rate the Taylors of old Bond Street shaving cream?

  • Very educational and you really know your stuff.....but way to much monkey &$#!! around!

  • Hello, super video as the others you made and very helpfull. I like to know everytime I watch a video of yours th type of the sahving gear. Could you please give me more specific explanation? (the type of the paste: peppermint or eucalyptus...; the type of brushes: S100 or V200, and the white one is a Savile Row or Vulfix or... etc). Thank you very much. Best regards from Shiny Frauenbach

  • Excellent videos. You definitely know your stuff.

Something to consider is the moisture level of the bar. The moister the bar the faster the lather. So would a new bar be in order for each brush? Just something to consider.

  • I'm sure this can be fun for the shaving enthusiast, but dang... That is a LOT of time dedicated to something you have to do multiple times a week.

  • bingefeller- Personally I do not do this every day, but its because I evaluate/use a lot of products for these videos. I know of a fair amount of dedicated Method Shaving videos who do it every day. After you get the technique down it doesn't really take very long.

  • I'm curious, do you do this every day? I don't think that I'd have time in the mornings for this....

  • Great videos which converted me back to wet shaving about 6 months ago.

Question:- in "method shaving" is it possible to build the mix using the cube, activator and shaving past in a bowl? It's just that these products are hard to get here in the UK, and doing it in the hand seemed generous indulgent with a lot of lather in the sink.

  • morturn- Yes, I've built the mix in a bowl; seems to work fine.

  • Great video!

But why can't you do method shaving with the traditional lathering? I don't understand, isn't it possible to do the passes with the regular lathering methods? (soap/paste)

I love your videos! Thank you for introducing me into the world of wet shaving! I actually look foward to shaving now. I can't wait til the AM!

  • cnyc31- Yes, its possible to do the straight reduction passes with traditional lather. However, some of the other techniques, like "stretching the mix" is difficult or impossible with "regular" lather. I'm glad you're enjoying the videos!

  • ...and you get into work around 10:30 a.m....assuming you shave in the p.m.

    nice videos

  • Once you got a good routine down, method shaving can take just a little bit more time then regular shaving. The extra time is well worth it, you get a much closer shave that doesn't grow back as fast, and less irritation to skin. I would constantly get irritated skin, and red spots all over my neck... but I don't anymore.

  • Cada loco con su tema.

  • oh thank you for your great help. i havent seen an activator to buy anywhere. and i think my midrange Mühle brush is good. i love your videos i whatch every of them. thank you and greetings from germany

  • i havent understood for what the activator is for?

my english isnt goog enough. can someone explain in a few words please.

  • redratz - "Activator" is not required but helps build a better shaving mix, especially if you do not have a good shaving brush. (Übersetzung: "Aktivator" wird nicht angefordert, aber Hilfen errichten eine bessere Rasiermischung, besonders wenn Sie nicht eine gute Rasierbürste haben.)

  • This is starting to get very PRO, sometimes i'm still fighting to get the right leather with the traditional method eheh.

Thank you, very nice episode as usual.
